Disclaimer:
My boys are strollerless 51 weeks of the year and have participated in a 5k walk this spring in which they basically ran because they didn't know any better.

Last year I took our Sit n Stand LX, but with both boys then 3 and 5 it was too heavy and cumbersome to turn so that one is in the box in the garage. I highly recommend this stroller for children that meet the weight requirement, but we were pushing the limits last year.

After much research for our trip this year, I purchased the INSTEP Safari TT (Turn Technology). It is a jogging type stroller, with 16" rear wheels and a 12" front swivel wheel.

I tried it out at Baby Depot by placing my 59 pound 6 yo DS in it and pushing him around on the aisle and the carpet. I have a bad wrist and this stroller was very easy to steer with little effort.

We drove to FL. so we just put the unopened box in the van and my DH assembled it when we arrived. The assembly was easy as the wheels are quick release.

We used this stroller everyday. With both boys sitting cross leg the older child could ride in front and he's 51 inches tall. Not recommended at high speeds or for long periods, but for strolling the parks, it was a nice option as we had a couple of scorchers and you always want to know how much stress your stroller can take in extreme conditions should your babies have a meltdown.
:D

The most extreme situation we had was after Blizzard Beach when they both fell asleep at the same time while waiting for the bus. Both boys were able to lie on their side and nap and the stroller was still easy to maneuver and turn. Mind you, this is a single stroller just roomy. It is very difficult to time naps since my Kindergartener does not take naps at school (we used to!) and my preschooler does.

Therefore the Preschooler goes to sleep after lunch and the 6 yo goes after school, around 3 p.m. This was pretty much their routine during vacation too, so having the stroller allowed them to nap at different times. As you know, sometimes all a child needs to recover is a short nap of 30 to 60 minutes and even with Disney Transportation, you can spend that much time getting out of the park especially if you are not staying at a monorail resort or spending the day at MK, as the other parks are served by buses and boats. (I think the term "Park Hopper" is very deceptive)

I checked the stroller daily for stress fractures and tears due to the abuse and it showed no signs of wear. It was definitely worth the $127 we paid (shipped) and performed so well that I have decided to keep it (as opposed to yard saleing it) for next year's trip. We saw quite a few of these strollers at WDW so use in the parks is not an issue. The front wheel sits under the leg rest, more like a traditional stroller. The swivel front wheel allows for easy turning (it also locks) and rolled easy even on sand at the Y&B Club. I was able to store 2 insulated medium sized insulated coolers in the basket under neath no problem. There is also a pocket on the back that closes with velcro that I was able to place cameras and autograph books and cell phones in.

The handle adjusts to several positions although there is no height adjustment. My Dh is 6'2 and he did not complain about the height or weight of the stroller. There is a lever that goes across the handle and when pulled back on, it collapses the stroller in half. There is a carry bar underneath. The back wheels are large but we were able to get on the trams, monorail and busses fairly quickly without releasing them. We like to take the ferry over to MK so we could leave the stroller upright and keep our stuff in the basket.

The tires are Pneumatic (bike tire inflatable) so we carried a small air pump that I bought at the $1.00 store but we didn''t need it.
I would recommend making sure the tires are properly inflated if you plan on placing a heavier child in it.

The pro's of having the stroller, greatly outweighed the cons of packing it and carrying it on transportation. Using FastPass has changed the way we tour the parks and when you are at Space Mountain and need to get to Thunder Railroad for your fast pass time, the last thing you want is your 4 yo to have a melt down.
The few times we were in a hurry to get to the other side of the parks to catch a show or fp time the stroller worked out great.

My DH commented on the many spankings he witnessed at MK last monday (IT was HOT!). Not saying that this stroller will stop you from beating your kids (only child welfare can do that)LOL but we were a much happier family with it and our kids were free to ride any time they wanted.

Thanks to all who have posted their stroller experiences, as I scoured the boards when shopping for mine. I hope this helps someone else.

Wow - thanks for that report! I hadn't considered getting a stroller to hold both boys but am rethinking. I would guess my 30lb 17 month old could sit in it fine ? Sounds like you had a great trip!

Liferbabe - Wow, sounds like you got the stroller of all strollers. I couldn't agree with you more about bringing your own stroller. Yes, you can rent them in the parks, but what about the walk from the parks to the bus or parking lot?? We ended up carrying our 38 lb 2 year old a lot, but having our own stroller was a lifesaver.

Can you tell me where you bought it? Online??? Thanks!

Thanks so much for your report LIFERBABE!!

Are you really saying you put one 50 pound child in this and another one also??

I'm only asking because I have been looking for a stroller to take for what will be in Dec our 6 yr old DD but she's too big--especially height wise for most of the strollers.

I was able to look at this one on Baby Depot but it said the weight limit was 50 pounds. If you used it for two and did'nt have any problem we would just be using it for this trip for 7 days in the parks. Our DD weighs around 54 pounds now so she could be a little more by then. What was the total weight you had in this stroller at the parks with your two??

My only other ?? would be if there is enough length for her feet -- she's pretty tall.

We agree to having your own stroller -- it's so much easier and you can carry a few things like a collapsible cooler. You said you had 2 of these in the basket-- I read alot of reviews on this that said they could'nt keep anything heavy in the basket or it would come off. Did you have any problems with this???

My only other concern is the price-- We would never spend this much on a stroller especially since we would only be using it for this trip and then would never use it again. I wish it was'nt so expensive!!

Any help you could give me would be great and if anyone knows of any other strollers that would acccomdate our big girl I would love to hear about it!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I purchased this stroller from the military exchange website, but I test drove it at baby depot (burlington coat factory).

Princess, I was in the same predicament with older children and only needing the stroller for the 1 week. I weighed the cost based on the double stroller rental, even though I purchased a single. I figured any excess I spent I could recoup by selling at a yard sale and more if I ebayed it. I really needed a smooth turner due to my wrist and didnt want to wait to try out the rentals, because then it would be too late.

My boys had their physicals the week we left, that is how I know their exact height and weights. It was useful to know what they could ride also.

My 6 yo is 48 1/2" and weighs 59 pounds. My 4 year old is 41" and weighs 37 pounds. There were several times when they both sat cross legged (Indian Style is the less correct term) in the stroller with the seat fully reclined they could sit little one in the back and larger one in the front. They were more than comfortable and I have a cute picture of them sitting like this as dad pushed them down Main St. and they are both reading Park Maps!

The other picture I took was at the suggestion of the scrap book ladies when they were asleep on their side in the stroller together. They were snuggled up and neither seemed to mind and they had a nice nap.

I read the reviews also and saw where others had problems holding items in the basket. We did not run with the stroller so that may be an issue at higher speeds but never did I have a problem with items falling out of the basket or the basket tearing under the stress. We had one collapsible filled with drink pouches and water bottles and the other held snacks.

When my older child rode we reclined the seat back and he sat further back so his legs wouldnt stick out. The 4 year old was not a problem at all. The Tires will flatten with the weight but we insured they were properly inflated and the ride was still smooth and I could still easily turn this stroller with one hand while pushing 2 kids and the back pocket and under basket fully loaded. None of this is recommended by the manufacturer, but it was my $127 and I worked the wheels off this stroller and was very impressed with the way it held up. If it had broke down on Main St. I would have left it and understood why it broke down, but it didn't and that's why I was so impressed with it.

After looking at other top of the line strollers (mountain buggy etc), I thought I would take my chances with the Instep and I'm glad we did. We will more than break even on the next trip and I won't have "stroller stress" like I did this year. I will probably take a stroller until my youngest turns 7 which would give us 2 more years.

Instep does make a double version of the Safari TT, but the company has been bought out by Schwinn and the double was sold out on every site I looked. If you do a google search for Safari TT you may find more information on when the manuf. will start shipping again.

Another reason I like to have my own stroller is that I am just cheap! I don't like the thought of renting, paying money and having nothing to show for it. I like tangible items that I can sell or trade when Im done with it. I'm getting better, but its a process!

Well now - are you going to post some of those cute pictures? I'm trying to picture my two daughters sleeping in a single stroller (or riding in one) and it is cracking me up!

I'm not sure if I should start another thread or just add on to this one, so please humor me - my girls are 6 (46 inches/54 lbs) and almost 3 (but petite - not sure of height but she weighs around 27 and wears 18-24 month size clothing still) -
I know they will want to ride in a stroller - heck - I'll want to be riding in it myself after a week! We have a double baby jogger, but it's wide and cumbersome, imho - a friend in my moms' group has a Sit and Stand that I can borrow - I have no idea how well these work - you mentioned the weight limit? I don't want to break her stroller while we are there - we have our own regular Evenflow Travel System stroller that we don't use and I'd rather break something of ours -

Any suggestions? And does anyone have any pictures of the strollers from Disney? I'm picturing those hard plastic jobbies like they rent out in the mall - LOL

Carol
