Just back only one problem.....

Hi, We just returned last night and had a wonderful stay. I have only one gripe. Our last night we went to epcot for illuminations and were planning on eating there. Everywhere was packed! Since we were staying at the YC my husband suggested I get a spot for the show while he ran back to the YC and found out about eating there. He checked with the YC galley and they said they were not booked up and that they stopped seating at 9;30. We watched the show and sprinted back to the YC. We arrived at the YC galley about 9:25. TONS of empty tables! The hostess tells us they are not taking anymore walk ins. Now we didn't make a reservation because she told us they were not overly booked and we were sure we could get there before 9:30, which we did. Now my husband says VERY nicely could you just squeeze us in we just ran from epcot and she says she remembers he came in earlier to check about eating. So she says she will ask her manager. She comes back and says my manager says Beaches and Cream is open til 11:00. Now I am thinking so what we want to eat here at our resort and not to mention Beaches was sooooo packed from the crowds after illuminations we never could have got in!! We ended up ordering room service which cost an arm and a leg and had to wait over an hour and a half for it. Our chili was cold and the french fries soggy! The guy who delivered our food said it was crazy with all the orders. They had some convention going on. Now you would think if the YC was sold out they might keep the YC galley open past 9:30 on a friday night??? I just wanted to vent a little since I thought they could have tried to accomadate one of thier guest a little. We ate there 3 times that week and spent quite a bit. Oh well live and learn. Next time I'll make a PS.

Wow, I'm stunned that they would not accomodate you. I can't imagine they would turn buisness away. I've always had such excellent service at the YC Galley. I'm sorry.

I was a little surprised too?? Everything else was wonderful and we would stay again in a moment. Its just when you are tired and hungrey with two little kids you just want to sit and eat.

We ALWAYS make a PS no matter how full or empty we think where we want to eat will be.

It's a bummer what happened to you, but my advice (late, I know) would have made a PS when your DH checked while you were looking for a spot.

That would have prevented YC Galley from denying you as a walk-in. You would have had a PS.

That stinks! For future reference, save yourself some "sprinting" and dial *88 from any pay phone on property and it will connect you with Disney Dining. It's a lifesaver when you're on the opposite side of the park of where you want to eat.

i am not meaning to stir anything up here but i am not suprised that you werent seated 5 minutes before closing time. i work in retail(supermarket). on my late nights just after closing i always have a few walk ups come to the closed door and knock and ask if they could come in. i almost always say no. i cannot do that for 2 reasons:

1) i have a crew on a schedule and it is my responsiblity to get them out and on their way home at their scheduled time. age and labor laws require i do this. besdies what boss likes to pay ovetime

2) insurance purposes. what most people do not realize is that in some instances any accidents occuring to customers after posted closing times will not be covered by the company's insurance company. i did not know this until i was told that i cannot allow any customer to linger after the store is officially closed. any accidents that may happen after closing time not covered by their personal insurance will surely result in a lawsuit.


sorry your day ended on a bit of a sour note. i dont know if any of this played into the managers decision not to seat you but it may have.
