Got back 9/17, stayed at OKW and was very impressed at the room. This is my new favorite resort (thanks stlrod!!!). Everything was more or les a walk on during the early hours, midday 20 minutes, and evening about 10. One thing that I didn't like was while we were in DTD waiting to board the boat to our resort a group of loud and obnoxious kids (about 10-15 of them) were spitting on the ducks in the lagoon. No parental supervision anywhere. This really made me sick!!! One started off and then the rest followed suit. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Great to hear! We're scheduled for OKW for 10/30 through 11/5. We were originally going to WDW in December and had BWV ressies, but my wife's pregnancy caused us to move our trip up, and all the rooms at BWV were taken. I've been worried about whether we would enjoy OKW.

OKW is a great resort, a not well known gem! In the mid-90s, we were offered a reduced rate to stay there and didn't. But we drove through and kept thinking "Boy, am I glad we didn't stay here!" It just didn't hold any appeal. Two years ago, we had to stay there as it was the only resort with availability that week. We loved it! Now it's the only place DH will stay!

Glad you had a great trip. Did you by chance do EMH PM at MK? Would love to hear about how crowded they were.

Yes we did EMH at MK AM and PM. DO THE AM!!! It really feels like you have the park to yourself in the morning. Did Philharmagic in the morning and I could have sat anywhere. Less than twenty people in the theater! Rode Big Thunder Mountain 3 times in a row; walked right on each time. The evening magic hour was crowded; CM's didn't even bother checking for bracelets; 20 minute waits on Space Mountain, Astro Orbiter.

So glad you liked my "home" so much. I'll be going "home" in 2 weeks....hope you left the place nice and tidy for me! ;) Kathy

MKPat - I asked this on the board last week...but no one was really sure of the answer.

Did you by any chance go into Goods to Go for breakfast? Do you know what they offered? I'm on the dining plan and looking for a breakfast option at OKW. WHile the brochure says that Goods to Go does offer breakfast, both the counter service and the snack column are checked. I was curious if there will be eggs, pancakes, waffles available at Goods to Go. Did you try it for breakfast?

Thanks for your help :goodvibes

Goods to Go really isn't a sit down restaurant... It's what it's name implies....I think they just may have bagels, muffins, etc the can "go"! Olivia's is also located at OKW if you are looking for a bigger breakfast like eggs, waffles, etc. But the great thing about OKW is you have a fridge/kitchen so you can do an easy breakfast in your room. Can you save your dining plan for lunch and dinner (not sure how it works), or do you have to have one of the meals be breakfast? Just a thought..... Kathy :earsgirl: You can also check here for all menus around the "World" (they didn't have breakfast listed at Goods to Go but I know they have a little something there...)

Hey, 2disneybabies. As you can see above, we will be at OKW at the same time. Maybe we'll run into each other!

Hi tjevans
That would really be cool!!! I would love to actually meet someone down there from the boards...it is nice to have soooo many helpful people here to come to with questions!!! I have learned so much here!
Just you, your wife and son, right? how old is he? ours will be almost 4 when we go!! Hope to see you there!!!!!

Can I just ask a quick question to you...maybe you didn't encounter this or even use a pull out couch...but I just read on another thread that you can request an "egg crate" you know, to make the pull out couch more comfortable. Do you know if this is true or even...did you use the pull out couch and how comfortable (or uncomfortable) was it???
Thanks so much!!

We never used the pull-out couch, I don't know.

OKW has recently replaced all of their pull out couches...they are nothing like your regular sofa-beds....I can't describe it, and I have never seen them anyplace else, but they are a thick foam mattress over a wood frame...doesn't sound great I know, but they are the most comfortable sofa beds I have ever slept on...no more pokey springs or bar in your back...you can't even feel the other person turn over....they are so comfortable...I would love to have one at home.

They still have the regular sofa beds at BW and BCV (not sure about SSR and VWL).

And yes, they will bring you an egg crate on request...but it would be a lot of trouble for the sofa bed, because you would have to take it off every AM and store it and remake the bed with it every night.

Try those new beds before you call for one though...they are too cool!!

Also remember, OKW has 2 queen beds in the studios...where the other DVC resorts have 1 queen and a sofa bed in the studios.

We're staying at OKW for the first time 11/27-12/4. I was already really excited but even more so now after reading your post! I can't wait! :Pinkbounc

OKW is our family favorite. We have spent three weeks there over the last couple of years. My wife and I are staying at Beach Club Villas October 15 -21 because we have not stayed there before. My Daughter and her childhood friend are meeting and will be staying there during the same time. You can not go wrong with OKW and Olivia's is a great place for dining.
