Cast - myself, age 39; DH, age 40 (and world's oldest boy); DD's, ages 12
Next day, Fri, is MK day! Had intended to be right there at opening, but we were just too pooped out from the night before and couldn't get our act together! So we actually didn't get into the park until ten. For those of you who are stressing about no EE and early closing, don't bother. The park did close at 7. Nevertheless, we rode all the rides we wanted to (SM, BTM, SpM(twice), JC, HM, POTC, BL, AE, IR, SW and a couple more I don't remember), saw Spectro and the fireworks. POSTED WAIT TIMES ARE NOT ACCURATE. We saw wait times of up to 45 minutes and we did not wait longer than 15 min. for anything. Longest wait we had was for burgers at Pecos Bill's for lunch. (30 minutes.) Loved MK! It was a little odd, though, having it be familiar and at the same time, not familiar. The coaster type rides here are superior to DL, but we like POTC and HM better at DL. And DL really excels at the minute little details and touches. Of course, this was just a quick trip, so we'll have to come back and find some of those little MK details ourselves next time.
Sat we headed for Epcot. Same as for MK, wait times were less than posted times. The exception was TT. We went on first thing in the morning and waited 40 minutes, but we were warned that usually happens. We went on a second time at about 7pm and only waited 15 min. Had a wonderful lunch at Le Cellier (no PS) and had no wait to be seated. Epcot is great! Too bad Disney didn't elect to make DCA another Epcot. One of my DD's bought a parasol from a stall in China and the CM wrote her name on it in Chinese characters. She treasures it as her best souvenir!
Sun was MGM day. Again, no waits longer than 15 min. Took the backlot tour and saw what they are setting up for Osborne lights. It looks like it will be spectacular! Too bad we were there just a bit too early. Had a delightful lunch at the Prime Time Cafe (no PS, waited only 10 min to be seated). Our server, Topher, was hysterical. I warned my DD's to use their best table manners if they didn't want to have to get up and sing "I'm a little teapot", like the man at the next table! Being on their best behavior didn't save them though! There was a 12 yr old boy at another table and Topher kept admonishing him to quit staring at the "cute twins"
(he wasn't) and for my DD's to quit staring at the "cute boy"(they're weren't). All three were becoming more embarrassed by the moment. He finally had them get up and dance the twist together. Of course all the adults were in hysterics! One of my DD's announced later(and her sister agreed) that she would have to "file that away as the most mortifying moment of my life!"
Mon was AK day. Unfortunately, we had be be off to the airport at 2:30, so it was only a quick morning trip. We went to KS first thing and waited about 10-15 minutes. (My DH and DD's loved it, but I admit I found it peculiar. We have a great zoo and wild animal park here at home and I found the idea of live animals as part of a true Disney style ride not quite to my liking.) Everything else (KRR, Dino) was a walk on. ITTB is great! We all loved that! Had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Food was okay and the restaurant was loud, but the kids loved the atmoshphere.
So, we'll have to start saving our money and come back and do it all again! (This time at a Disney resort - we did a lot of drooling and oohing and ahhing at the resorts we got glimpses of...sigh.) We had a great time, so don't let any of the naysayers put you off! Just go and have fun. We did! Weather was perfect, mild temps day and night, not a drop of rain. Couldn't ask for a better trip. (Well...maybe...more time and...an unlimited budget.)
One last note - the interactive pins are really fun! We bought them our first night at WoD so we could have them for all four days in the parks. They work especially well at Epcot. The only drawback is you walk around with your chin on your chest wondering when it's going to go off and have a tendency to run into people.
Oops! Sorry!
Thanks again everyone for all the great tips.
