I just got back saturday from WDW and thought I would share my DME experience for those wondering how it works. Keep in mind I travelled solo with no kids and some info is specific to Caribbean beach resort.

1. booked trip on Dec 7th for a Feb 5th departure paid in full.
2. Got DME info in the mail soon after but did not get yellow tags until 15 days before departure.
3. Flew NWA arriving MCO at 10:15am on Feb 5th(sun) went directly from gate to ground level to DME desk.
4. There were 6 castmembers stations serving a single line, one for cruise line guests. waited less than five min for my turn and it took two min to complete work (have your DME booklet that had the yellow tags ready).
5.They direct you into a specific que line depending on which resort you are going to. I was going to CBR. By this time its around 10:35am.
6. There were only about 6 of us at the time so they combine us with, I think, the CSR line. waited 10 min for the bus and another 10 min before we left the airport.
7. Although run by Mears, you cant tell it was a Mears bus by looking at it.
8. Ride to WDW takes approx 30 min. got lucky and CBR was the first stop.
9. waited 5 min at checkin for my turn and took 10 min to do work. Asked at booking for a specific room number and got it. room was ready immeadiatly at approx 11:45am
10. Had to wait 10 min for internal resort shuttle(carry on luggage only is permitted) to get dropped off at the aruba bus stop. In room by noon.
11. left room at 3:00pm for 3 hours and, luggage was there when I got back(they say 3-5 hours).
12. On the morning before leaving for home,I left room at 7:00am and there was already a envelope hanging on door knob telling me when the DME bus will be at the check in house the next day. My flight was 11:40am so they put me on the 8:30 am bus. Knowing that, I had to call luggage service and arrange for a van driver(not internal bus) to pick me and luggage up at my room and take me to checkin/out. They usually pick you up 30min before the bus arrives.
13. Because NWA is not one of the airlines that allow you to pre checkin your luggage at the resort, you simply have to take it to the DME bus yourself and check it in at the airport yourself as you would normally do.
14. DME buses do run every 30 min and they were on time.
15. Never had any problems with delayed or lost luggage.
16. It took 20 min in line to check baggage. The security line was fairly quick that morning leaving MCO. I got to my gate a full two hours before my flight. But then had a 3 hour flight delay!

Hope this can help someone. Remember every situation is different, dont count on this being the same for you!

It sounds like a good overall experience! We are going for 10 days in April and for the 1st time in many years are thinking about not renting a car. After reading Mousesavers opinions on the subject and some good reviews of DME this just may be the year to try it. THanks! :sunny:
