Just Back - LOVED WL!

Well, we just bought BLT this summer and have several trips planned. We really wanted to go for a weekend prior to our week-long October trip, so at the last minute, we decided to go for it. We were long since out of points, so I thought about buying more as we will likely add-on in the future anyway. Unfortunately, there really wasn't anything available for this past weekend (at least not in studios) so we booked a cash reservation. We ended staying at Wilderness Lodge and fell in love with it I cannot wait to go back! We'll see what we think of AKL first, but otherwise it looks like the aforementioned add-on will be at VWL. (Just wish it expired in 2060 like BLT!)

You should see WL when it is decorated for the holidays. Absolutely gorgeous. Glad you enjoyed it there. Our first contract was at VWL.

We recently bought resale at VWL and won't be there for our first trip until December of 2011. Glad to hear you had a great experience there.

I am glad that you liked WL. It is a fabulous resort.
I own at AKL and my sister at VWL so we get the best of both worlds.
I think that you will find AKL has a similar feeling in the lobby, great theming and awesome pool. I love the relaxed feel and that I can get away from it all there.
VWL is great for the proximity to MK - being able to take the boats is a plus. I also like being so close to Fort Wilderness.
I would check out both and then make your choice - but either way I think that you will be happy.

We just booked at WL today for our adult only trip in Jan. We're not using points since work is picking up the hotel bill since I'm going for a conference. We originally were going to stay at CBR, but with the 40% off, it was only $300 more for the 5 nights to stay at WL. Dh really likes WL so we went for it. Can't wait.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Wilderness Lodge!

We have stayed two full weeks there - once in 2006 for our Honeymoon and then we took my parents there for a week in 2008 - they had a blast and we did too. More than likely that was my Mom's last 'vacation' as her health isn't good and not getting better - so it was the perfect place to make a weeks worth of memories that will truly last a lifetime - and for longer than that thanks to Photopass!

It is just my humble opinion that Wilderness Lodge is THE most beautiful resort on all of Disney Property. From the topiary animals to the beautiful landscaping to the magnificent lobby - and the awesome restaurants - to the AMAZING pool and Fire Rock Geyser!

We LOVE Wilderness Lodge and we think you should too!

We are currently booked at VWL for our annual Mardi Gras vacation, and are on a BLT waiting list.. These are the last two WDW resorts that we have not visited yet, so it is truly a win-win situation for us!

I had always wanted to stay there and am still really hoping our WL for Ocober comes through so we can stay there again soon (although it looks like EVERYTHING in October is pretty locked up). I agree witht he previous poster that the lobby of AKL is very similar to VWL so I am anxious to go back again when we stay at Kidani and get a good feel for the resort. As previously mentioned as well, I have heard VWL is very popular at Christmas time due to the decorations. I think it would be fabulous to be there with the decorations out and the cooler days of December. Hmmm, maybe we can plan a third trip to Disney this fall????
