I went on our trip with an open attitude about FP+. I guess I'm back with a Fastpass Neutral opinion. This post mostly focuses on scheduling more FP+ after your first three have been used. I didn't have any problems using my first three at all. You definitely need to schedule these before park arrival, though, due to the limited number of kiosks (see below).

My number one complaint is finding kiosks once your first three passes have been used. They are marked on park maps, but are kind of tucked away under awnings and such making them harder to locate. THEY HAVE TO ADD MORE KIOSKS/CMS PRONTO, especially in MK. We spent two days in MK. The first was Tuesday -- low crowd levels, very easy to work the system. We used a total of 7 FP that day, but could have easily pulled more. We went back to the hotel for an afternoon break. I was able to walk up to kiosks and choose rides with immediate availability every time on Tuesday. Friday was a different story. The crowds were much larger, of course, and the kiosk lines were LONG. The FP program the CMs use was glitchy that day and more than one CM showed visible frustration with their iPads. We had a very hard time booking extra FP for all four us using one band. For some reason we were linked together perfectly all week and then on Friday they weren't working that way anymore. Multiple CMs had to scan and rescan more than one of us to get us four FP together on the same ride. We also were not able to pull any immediate use FP that day like we did on Tuesday. FP were available for the rides we wanted, but typically the window opened 90 minutes after visiting the kiosk.

While standing in the long kiosk lines on Friday I asked three different CMs what are you going to do this summer when it is really busy? One positive CM said that without lines she wouldn't have a job, one CM responded that he'd like to see kiosks at every ride, and one very honest CM said she is going to cry, LOL!

Tiering really stinks. At HS we took TSMM because my kids won't do ToT or Rock N Roller Coaster. I didn't try to get more than three FP there. At EP we took TT as our Tier One choice. After using three I tried to get Soarin' and couldn't. That was at about 1:30 on Wednesday. No one in my party was willing to wait 75 minutes to ride it, so I missed out on that ride this trip. I really wish they would get rid of the tiers. If anything it shows that these two parks needs more rides!

A few times I got messed up by changing FP on my phone. It is hard to explain without walking through the screens, but at least twice I wanted to switch a reservation to a different ride. At first it looked like I was changing to a new ride during the same time period. It wasn't until after I hit "done" that a different time popped up. At EP I tried to change a 1:00 for Nemo to Spaceship Earth. It showed my change to Spaceship Earth as 1:00 - 2:00, but after I hit done it came up as 3:20 - 4:20. That time was unusable because we were going to be in the World Showcase by then.

Also at EP we got stuck in Mission Mars during a breakdown. Because of that we missed our next FP and there was nothing we could do about it. I would have changed it on the fly on my phone, but in the bottom of MM I didn't get cell reception.

Finally, I found being tied to the times of my first three FP somewhat stressful. I made the mistake of booking Peter Pan, BTMR, and lunch at BOG in that order. We had to run back and forth across the park to make these times. That was my mistake, but still stressful. I'd be remiss if I didn't say that we did spend two days at Universal. Their Express Pass is very expensive and there is no way I would pay for it, however, I feel like our days were more enjoyable there because we weren't tied down to any ride times. Also crowd levels were very manageable. We all seemed to have more relaxing days there, enough that I would do a split stay next time to take advantage of their express pass as part of their hotel priveleges. Their express pass is not timed. You can walk up to any line at any time. Without a doubt I would pay for that kind of pass at MK.

Having said all of the above, though, in no way would I say FP ruined my vacation. Tuesday at MK was great, Animal Kingdom and HS worked out fine, I experienced a few glitches and missed out on Soarin' at EP, and Friday, a busy day at MK, was glitchy. We did, however, ride all three mountains that day with our first three FP so that was great!

Oh, and I wanted to mention, the FP return lines do often look long, but we never waited for what would be deemed an unacceptable time. Usually when the line looks long it is because a party going through the scan point either doesn't know how to match up their band to the scanner, entered the wrong line or had the wrong time for their FP return. The problem is usually quickly remedied and the line gets moving again.

We just got home today also from being there last week. We liked fast past plus. We like that we didn't have to rush and be there right at park opening.

Thanks for all the information! I had read on another thread that other people experienced the same thing you did- that when you try to change the experience, it isn't pulling up a matching time necessarily - and got much later times. I wonder if this is something you should try to do at a kiosk instead?

Glad to hear we weren't the only ones in MK on Friday that noticed the really long kiosk lines! In addition they took away some kiosk locations (they were there Wednesday and on previous trips and gone on Friday - specifically one in Liberty Square and one by Tink's Nook). Every FP+ kiosk/ people location we saw was very crowded/ long lines in the afternoon at MK (we were at DHS in the morning/ early afternoon).

I couldn't get any rides to change via our ipad - it either froze up or told me there was nothing available.

Hopefully Disney will start to allow guests to pull extra FP+ from their phones to help ease the wait at the kiosks. :confused3

Thanks, OP for the detailed report of how the fast passes worked. It's helpful in knowing whether to switch our times for an earlier time for our upcoming trip. I think I'll keep my afternoon fast pass times because in the summer months I feel we'll struggle getting anything for a 4th fastpass at a decent time.

The long lines at the kiosks would probably go away if they let you make the additional FPs on the app. I'm hoping they make that change eventually.

Is tiering in effect for the additional FPs you can obtain at the kiosks after the pre-booked three are gone?

For instance, if TSMM is one of your originally booked three, can you obtain another one for it at the kiosk after you use the three (assuming one is available)?

Thank you for the report. I feel like this is one of the few FP assessments I can read and find helpful..not just get stressed.

We were there in early April, the extra FP+ was still a wish so we didn't get to do that, however I found your review very similar to how we felt, we are park hoppers so we went at RD to MK and then scheduled FP for afternoon park, like EP or DH, then did this vice versa, this worked well for us, we were able to do everything w/o problems. ,My iPhone a few times had a hard time changing things in the fly. I think it was the MDE app more than my phone so that was a little frustrating. We spent one day at Universal and wished we would have done the express pass but you are right way to expensive. It was really busy there the day we went, we were ok with it since we had been there six months before and it was less crowded, the single rider line is a good tip at Universal and Disney if your party is ok doing that. This was really great for HPFJ at Universal and Rockin roller coaster and Everest at Disney. Overall FP+ was not as bad as people we're making it out to be so for people worried about it go and enjoy and don't get to caught up in the negativity, if anything it is a plus. Look at it as a chance to at least do three great attractions a day with a very minimal wait! We spent more time this trip enjoying non ride type attractions. We thought bowling at splitsville was so fun on a rainy morning, the appetizers were great there, and we had a coupon in our booking info, worth checking out!

Once you are on your 4 the fp you can get any ride that is available.

Yes, this is a change they must make before summer.

You're welcome! :) I just wanted to share what we experienced while we were there. So many threads make it sound like your vacation will be doomed due to Fastpass. We enjoyed our trip immensely, but there are definitely improvements that can be made to the system.

This is what in hoping for as well. What the pp had stated with their experience on Friday is exactly what I'm afraid of, having to stand in an extremely long line to add more FP. Being able to do it on the app will be so much more efficient.

I am hopeful that Disney will address this - it is really sad looking for that 3rd FP in HS or EP. Rides like spaceship earth and figment are not rides that should need a FP!!

The only reason that there is tiering is so that more people can have a "good" ride to choose. That's why I hope they never tier in MK - it would destroy all the good they've added back in.

The idea of them tiering MK scares the mickeys outta me.

slight hijack -

But I have a quick question about getting that 4th FP

do you have to have actually used all 3 of your scheduled FPs in order to be able to pull the 4th?
Or are you eligible just as long as the time windows have all expired?

Used or expired. If you USE it you can go to a kiosk immediately and get a 4th. (Ex your last one is 11:15 - 12:15 but you ride at 11:20) if you don't use a pass it just has to be expired.

Yes, as soon as you use all three or they time expire you can book another. We tried to use all of our FP+ within the first 15 minutes of availability to maximize our use of the system. Also, you can scan through 5 minutes before your FP time begins, so if it is for 11:45 - 12:45 you can head onto the ride at 11:40.
