Just back last night from the Poly Concierge. Lukewarm review.

I know what you meant, floridafam. :D

I consider club level and concierge to be pretty much the same thing. I have stayed club level at many hotels and some consider it to be nothing but a coffee maker and mini bar in your room (which is on a "preferred" floor).

Yes, it is different everywhere.

I think WDW does a pretty good job with their concierge services and Ritz does an excellent job with theirs.

I knew you knew what I meant

Thanks guys!
While I liked the nice bonus of having the food there, we had gotten the Silver package so used our wishes on Breaksfasts and Dinners and only used the lounge for a few cookies and coffee in the morning. OH, and yes, those TASTEY treats in the late evening! Happened to see them putting out BBQ ribs one night on our way to another dinner. OOO, that looked good! My impression of what I was expecting was just a little help when I need it. that's why we wanted it. AND we THOUGHT we'd get back to the hotel for lunch but we never did. Lordy Lordy...I'd never ask them to buy me underwear!!!!:rotfl: that one killed me!

Thanks for you support. Don't think we'll ever have the $ to stay concierge again. Which is what made it more sad. :( But wadda ya do.

Merry Christmas and Happy holidays to all!!!!:goodvibes :faint:

But the only person I ever had actual contact with both verbally and via e-mail was Tara. I was beginning to this she was fictional and that the whole planning staff was in essence "Tara".

I was under the impression that the CMs use pseudonyms. Didn't Safari Steve say he was "Doug" when he worked on the dining department? Last week, when we checked in at the YC "Carlton" said his name was Tom too when he saw that my son's name is Tom. Afterall they are "cast" members. The reason for this long-windedness is that maybe "Tara" is fiction. Your "Tara" sounds so different from the "Tara" I dealt with in May. Perhaps they have a generic name for each resort itinerary planner; it does sound better to say "Hi, Tara" than "Hi, Itinerary Planning Person.":teeth: What do you think? Truth or the beginning of Disney Concierge Conspiracy Theory?:hyper:

They use their own names unless someone in the same department or area has the same name, then they choose a pseudonyms.

ppony...I'm so sorry to hear about your stay but as I have indicated in past posts I had the same problem in August and was very disappointed with the staff. I didn't think to go to the desk in the main building which I probably should have because I may have received better treatment. Jon, the manager of the concierge, just apologized to me over the phone and that was it.
You can express your opinion in two ways...you'll get a postcard in the mail within the month asking you to take a survey regarding your stay . In the comments section be sure to express what happened to you and you will get a phone call. I did and spoke to management in the Disney executive offices. As an apology I was sent $100 Disney Dollars which I felt was nothing considering the price I paid for Poly concierge for 11 days.
You can also go to the disney site and send an e-mail to guest services and someone will contact you.
I think those of us that have been having problems need to express it to management in order for the Poly to fix the problem.
It's a real shame because this year I am not staying there and will be trying the Swan for the first time.

Actually, concierge takes on a different meaning depending on where you stay. Many higher end hotels have a concierge desk that serves all guests. They arrange airport transfers, print off maps/directions and make dinner/show reservations. I doubt they would fetch boxes for you or buy gifts before your arrival to have sitting in your room when you got there. No free food either.

just a thought about service at other hotels...I recently stayed at a very nice "real world" hotel in a standard room for about the same price I would stay at POR ( through priceline, usually around $300 a night)...not only were they very sweet, did everything they could to make our 1 night stay pleaseant but we were not staying club or concierge and they did some of the things some have complained *didn't* happen for them....some places just try harder and it shows. this can happen anywhere, WDW or not.
