Just back--kids and clothes report

To each their own, but for the most part, people are talking about dressing up for the Signature Restaurants which are not in the parks. They are at the various Deluxe resorts.

B.

Ah guess that explains it then. That would be easier to get dressed for. But I can't even understand wanting to run all over to various resorts just for meals...seems like you miss so much park time, just for the sake of eating.

We are eat to survive kinda people...it's not something we consider a fun activity or look forward to in that way. :)

We have eaten at several signature restaurants and always wear nice clothing. DH and DS are dressed in dress pants, collared polo shirt, belt and nice shoes. I normally wear dress slacks, blouse and heels. But that's just us. I don't really care what someone else is wearing as it has no reflection on me or my family. When I made our adr for Narcoossee's in April, I was told by the CM that they allow business casual which I already knew. Then she asked how old my DS was and I told her 11. She told me that "skater" attire is not allowed. I was a little dumbfounded as she does not even know my son. Don't automatically assume that because he is 11 that he dresses a certain way. I politely told her that Narcoossee's has nothing to worry about. And besides even if he were a "skater" who cares. That's his choice and there's nothing wrong with it.

What a bizarre comment for her to make! I would have been tempted to ask why she thought helmets and knee pads might have ever crossed our minds as dinner attire.

I think that Disney should enforce their dress codes. First of all they have very few restaurants with the business casual dress code in place, so it's not like every meal must be dress-up. The people eating there know about the dress code, since I know they are told when they make ADRs. The dress code isn't even that strict! I mean, how hard is it to just make sure you're not wearing tee-shirts and shorts that night?

I agree. Disney has a MINIMAL dress code for the Signature Restaurants. It is not business casual it is resort casual. All terminology aside Disney clearly explains this dress code when an ADR is made so there really is no excuse no to follow it unless you are a walk up. I think it is driven by $$ more than anything else. If you show up in a Motley Crue t-shirt and flip flops your money is just as green as someone in a suit and tie. I fear that Disney is afraid to turn some one away for fear of losing a check. It would be great to hear what the official policy is from someone who works at a Signature restaurant. I am certainly going to ask about the policy if I run in to any really poorly dressed people just to see what Disney says.

That's what I thought also and I started to chuckle because my son is far from being a skater kid.:lmao: I normally would have said something but she wasn't nasty about it and I had a lot more adr's to go.

not sure what the problem is with tank tops on women...I don't have a problem wearing them to signature restaurants. Of course they're not the same ones that go to the parks.

I agree if they are tasteful and dressy that is fine. They are trying to prevent "muscle t's" My wife wears some sleeveless shirts that are very nice and completely appropriate for the Sigs. That being said if it is a t-shirt sans sleeves leave it in the room. :hippie:

we ate at citricos in november and didn't notice many kids or sloppy clothes, but we were eating in the back room (by the window overlooking the marina)..
i find the back room much nicer, quieter, more spacious than the front room...

when we were there, everyone was nicely dressed (including the one table that did have children -the two girls were in their sunday finest)....
but again, this was in the back room....i really didn't pay attention to the front room, other than to remark how much more crowded together the tables seem there as compared to the back...

We always were our best clothes to the signature restaurants. My girls wear skorts and nice shirts, our problem are the crocks. We only pack crocks, water shoes and sneakers so our choices are limited. Not to mention trying to find sandals in the winter. In fact even in the summer I have to special order online nice plain white sandals. My older daughter is a size 6-8 clothes but a woman's size 5 1/2 shoe!

Since I was paying attention to them, there were plenty of crocks there, no socks, and mostly on adults. The majority of children had sneakers (nicer ones meaning new and clean) and all were dressed in nice shorts and shirts. I didn't see anyone in T-shirts or jean shorts.

We went to Yachtsman last week and loved it BTW.

I know I'm given the spiel when I make ADR's but does the concierge pass that along when they make it for their guests?

I always take a nice pair of sandals with me for the signature restaurants, otherwise, the rest of the time I'm in crocs.

I agree with you, it depends on the top.

At the 3 signature restaurants (Yachtsman, Citricos, California Grill) "business casual" was taken to extremes, even for me. I'm a fan of the very relaxed business casual dress code, but I'm not a fan of sloppy. While we saw no hats, bathing suits or torn clothes, we did see cargo shorts, gym shorts, gym style grey t-shirts a few sweat shirts, lots of tank tops on women. One man at Citricos had on what looked like a white undershirt!!!Shoes ranged from flip-flops to sandals to crocks to VERY worn tennis shoes. Very few folks seemed to have on any socks. One lady we saw in dungaree shorts had the bottoms "frayed" in "LIL Abner style.
And these were the signature restaurants!! Dress was almost exactly the same at Raglan Road, Yak and Yeti, and Mama Melrose--restaurants with NO dress code. You would have been hard put to tell the difference.

Kids were everywhere of course. Most at CG, then a large # at Citricos, not too many at Yachtsman. Mama Melrose was swarming with kids, as was Raglan Road. Yak and Yeti had their fair share too.
V&A had no kids and everyone was dressed "to code". One gentleman arrived with no jacket and was given one.

I am with you on the dress code, but---what is wrong with CHILDREN at signature restaurants? Hello, you were at Disney World! Did you not expect to see children? :confused3 My kids will be with me at California Grill, Narcoossee's, Hollywood Brown Derby, Citrico's, LeCellier, and others when we go in April. They will be on their best behavior, and will be properly dressed. I hope you are not there, because I don't want their evening spoiled by someone who doesn't think they should be welcome there. Children are not prohibited from going to these places!! What is the problem?

I don't have a problem with children at restaurants as long as they are well behaved, (meaning not screaming, climbing over the seats, or poking me or other patrons,) but I find your post rude, he did not say he had a problem with children, he was just commenting on the amount of children at the specific restaurants. Why do you have a problem with that post, I saw nothing rude in it.

I never said the poster was rude, please reread my post. I didn't mean to come off as rude myself, but the OP did mention that children were everywhere, and it did seem that OP did not expect children to be there. Sorry you were offended! Have a happy day!! :goodvibes

You may just want to edit your post since it does seem, to me anyway, a bit offensive. Also, the OP did have "kids were everywhere, of course." in his OP, so my guess is it was more an observation then a complaint.

I already apologized to you if you were offended (please reread my first response to your post directed at my post), and I won't apologize again. I don't argue with other posters, either. So, I will not respond again on this matter with you, and I won't edit my post just because another poster tells me to. I come here to learn and to post opinions, and I did that in my first post. If any other posters were offended I apologize to you all. Please reread my original post.

There are adults who enjoy WDW and love kids but even after a long day with them myself I need a break and these are my own beloved children!!:lmao:

So if there are people who would prefer a quieter experience there isn't a place that prohibits children. I believe as long as you pay for them V&A will let you bring children. They just try to discourage it and the prices do that to most adults.;)

If there are those guest that need a quieter dining experience, lets face it, more kids = more noise, there aren't many onsite options. Somehow I think the daycare down the street is a little louder than the nursing home next to it.:rotfl2: An extreme analogy perhaps.
