Only because all of our favorite meals are usually the least favorites on these boards, and alot of the favorites on these boards were our least favorites!!
We were there June 21 - June 27.
It was me, DH, DS,DD and DD's friend.
We usually visit the world about 2-3 times a year, and this was dd's friend's first trip ever.
We were staying at the AKL,so our first meal of the trip was at The Mara.I really like the atmosphere and convenience of this place, but DH and I both found the food less then tastey. We both had a hotdog and fries. You can't mess up a hotdog right?...Wrong!
The kids all had chicken strips and fries that they all enjoyed, so we were happy with that.
That evening we had PS for Boma. This was the first evening of our trip, and we wanted to start it with a nice dinner at our resort.Unfourtunatly we checked in on a Sat. which seemed to make it especially crowded at Boma for the 7:00 dinner hour.It wasn't that crowded at the same time other nights during the week.Maybe a lot of locals out for dinner on a Sat. night??
DH and I both liked the food, but I have to say at least for me it is not one of my new favorites. The kids liked it OK,but didn't really have much to say.If we're staying at the AKL I'm sure we'll eat here again, but we won't make a special trip for it.
The next morning we just had cereal in the room before heading out for EE at the MK.While we were there we had a citrus swirl from Sunshine Tree Terrace. It's frozen orange juice swirled with vanilla frozen yogurt.DH and I both ordered one,and while we both liked it,we wished we had gotten one to share.
The kids all had the chocolate and vanilla swirl which they said was great.
We then took the monorail to Epcot for the day, and had a PS for lunch at Le Cellier. We have always had dinner here in the past ,so this was our first experience with lunch. Our PS was for 1:00pm and we had NO wait.We walked up,and they took us straight in. We enjoyed the bread as always, but we all tend to favor the multigrain and sourdough over the pretzel.
I had the open faced steak sandwich topped with arugala, tomato jam, sauteed mushrooms, and fried onions.
If your like me you're wondering what in the heck tomato jam is.
I'm still not sure, but it had a very fresh tomato taste with just a hint of sweetness that blended very nicely with the marinade on the steak.
I thought it was great,Dh liked his,but though his steak was a little tough.
The kids all had the JR. steak and mashed potatoes. Their steaks were TERRIBLE. Not only were they extremly undercooked, but the were tough as shoe leather. We'll definatly be ordering them something else next time.I wish we would have then, but they were satisfied eating their mashed potatoes and bread,so we let it go.Even the server noticed how undercooked they were though.
For dessert they had the chocolate mousse. It's so adorable and tastey too! My DS loves the maple cookies they use for antlers, and our server brought him a few extra.
DH and I had our favorite....the maple creme brulee...YUM YUM!!!
