Me, DH, DD-16, DS-14, and DD-10 at the World from 2/27 to 3/7. Had awesome weather, and some nice meals. Here are the details:

1 day offsite: Golden Corral for breakfast - I thought the food here was very good. We arrived at 11:00 as they were putting out lunch, so we actually got both bfast and lunch foods. Hot, fresh food at an extremely good price. Everything from fried chicken to fish and pizza...to several kinds of fresh veggies and potatoes.....to wonderful desserts. Even have a soft serve ice cream machine! I think the kids ate their weight in ice cream! $45 for a belly-stuffing meal for 5.

WDW restaurants:

Whispering Canyon for bfast: Awesome food, amazingly obnoxious waitress who made it the most fun meal of the trip!!! Kept announcing to the restaurant that she was DS-14's new girlfriend! DD and I split a Canyon Skillet which was delicious; pancakes and french toast for the others. DD's french toast was served with cinnamon icing, which was Yummy! We made sure to prompt DS to ask for ketchup.....boy did he get it!!

Pecos Bill's for lunch: good burgers; great toppings bar; DD loves the wrap. We stop here almost every trip...good for a quick meal.

Kona Cafe for bfast: Poly is DH's favorite resort, so we try to visit at least once per trip. We like the bfast here, but I think they've changed the menu since we last came. No more Calabash breakfast platter! Ordered eggs benedict....they were ok, macadamia & pineapple pancakes.....delish!; and Mickey pancake....pretty good. Arrived 1/2 hour prior to ADR, but the place was pretty empty, so they sat us right away.

ESPN for dinner: Love, love, love this place!! If you like pub food (wings, burgers, nachos, etc), this is the place for you. And if you are a sports fan like DH and DD, you'll be in heaven. More TVs than I've ever seen in one place in my life.....even in the bathroom!! Ordered a Reuben sandwich, 2 bacon burgers, a grilled chicken sandwich and a kid's "double play", which was 2 mini burgers. Everything was awesome!!

Trail's End for dinner: A great buffet value, especially by Disney standards! $17.99 for adults; $9.99 for children. Wonderful soups and chili, cornbread, great salad bar, ribs, fried chicken, game dishes, several veggie dishes, and warm apple cobbler and cinnamon crisps for dessert!! Yummy!!!

50's Prime Time for late lunch: Fun waiter, funky retro decor. We had a great time here! DH and DD got chicken pot pie....wonderful! DS got chicken ceasar salad...he said it was ok. I ordered a fish sandwich which was disappointing. For $13.xx, I expected more than 2 fish-stick sized pieces of fish...and it was pretty bland to boot. Made up for it by sharing an apple cobbler with DS for dessert. This was HUGE, and could easily have been dessert for 3 people after the meal! It was really tasty!

Goods to Go (take-out window at OKW): got a couple of lunches "poolside" throughout the week. Good burgers, tasty turkey sandwich in a yummy soft roll, really good chicken fingers.

The Fountain (Dolphin) for dinner: Easily the most disappointing meal of the trip. We absolutely loved this restaurant before they renovated it. It used to be based on a 50's soda fountain with great sandwiches with names like, "Betty's BLT", "Ain't Nothing but a Chili Cheese Dog", and Swivel Hips Patty Melt". They also had a fantastic chicken ceasar salad served in a warm flatbread bowl. They've changed the entire place and it looks like they've tried to "upscale" it with contemporary decor and colors, menu items like ahi tuna....with prices to match. All menu items are approx. $5-$7 higher than on previous menu. It makes us so sad that we'll be crossing this restaurant off our list of favorites.

Ghiradelli's for dinner (Yep....sundaes for dinner!!). How can you go wrong with ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream??? Love these sundaes and with g-mail coupons, got two for free. I was absolutely in heaven because they now have dark-chocolate hot fudge. I may not need DH anymore....'nuf said...LOL! Awesomely decadent sundaes...a "must-do"!

That's about it, folks! We were in a 2-bedroom at OKW, so we did eat some meals in the room: 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners. Nothing fancy, but a bit of a $$ saver just the same.

Had a wonderful trip and can't wait to go again! I'd be happy to answer any questions. Have a great day!

Thanks for sharing your dining experiences with us :) A friend of mine went the same week and also said the weather was great and low crowds.

You lost all credibility right here. Appreciate the reviews though!

Thanks for the reviews. I'm sorry to hear about the changes at Dolphin Fountain because that was one of our favorites too. :sad2: Sounds like your other meals this trip were very nice though. :)

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the reviews. I've always wondered about Trail's End. Sounds like it is a really good place to eat.... maybe on my next trip. ;)

I have heard such good things about Whispering Canyon that I decided to get ADRs for our trip, 8/18 - 24/06. I booked dinner though and can't wait. I think that I am more excited than my DS16, well, except for the cruise.

Did your server say anything to you about splitting the Canyon Skillet with your husband? I have thought about doing that because it is so much food but I did not know if they would let you do that or not. If so, that is wonderful! If using the dining plan did they only charge you for one Table Service credit?
Thanks

good review, luv your sense of humor :rotfl2:

I dont get the comment about Golden Corral. Its a great place to eat and get alot of food.

Thanks so much for mentioning the Fountain. We went 2 years ago and loved it and were planning on going back this summer but wont now. I couldnt find the new menu on the internet yet so I emailed the Dolphin and they wrote right back with the new menu. All I can say is overpriced and yuck. What were they thinking? We will try the food at Beaches and Cream now since they are actually overall cheaper! If anyone wants the menu I can email it or try to post it here.

I enjoyed your reviews! Sounds like you had a great week! Sundaes for dinner sound good to me!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Thanks for the great reviews. I love the macadamia nut pancakes at the Kona Cafe. :)

Great reviews - thank you! :)

Are ADR's required for Whispering Canyon? This sound like a place that my family would love!

You order the skillet by the number of people who will be sharing it. So, when the skillet came to the table, there was enough for two on it (2 waffles, 2 large sausages, bacon, potato wedges, scrambled eggs, 2 biscuits and a cup with sausage gravy). After we emptied the first skillet, our waitress automatically brought out a second one. If we had wanted a 3rd, we surely could have asked for one, but we were stuffed and didn't even eat all that was on the second one.

Can't help you on the credits, because we were not on the dining plan.

What did you get the chocolate coupon I can't find a ghridelli web site.

If you go to the Ghiradelli website, you can sign up for their "G-mail". When you fill out the requested information, make sure you answer that you DO live within xx miles of a Ghiradelli store. You should receive a coupon within a couple of days that is good for buy 1 get 1 sundae! Make sure you DO NOT sign up any earlier than 3-4 weeks prior to your WDW trip, because the coupons are only good for 30 days. Also, they will be imprinted with your name, and they WILL ask you for an ID when you order at the counter. I actually signed up both my hubby's email addy and mine, so we had two coupons to use (ordered separately).

HTH's!
