Just back, hate fp+ system

We have been going at least once a year and had our routine. This new system stinks. I made our selections before leaving and made them between 11 and 2 so that we could get more fp. You had to wait in very long lines to get the additional fp. We also found that we backtracked so much. We alśo found that the wait times were not so accurate. Mydisneyexperience was not so cooperative. Also you could not get fp to the main rides on the same day.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering want it was going to be like to get that 4th FP. I guess I will look into getting a different app for the wait times and such.

yeah - really not seeing the point of this at all.

I can see limiting people to 3 in advance, but i don' t get the making you wait to get more in park that day until you use those three and making you wait in line to use a kiosk when i have the app. As someone else said - how to I get a fast pass for the kiosk.

I think this is all about making people spend more days in the parks so they can do all the rides they want to do in each park

I hate to hear that. We actually loved it and found it very easy. You don't have to wait in a long line for the 4th fast pass, you can do it from your phone. ( I thought, but when we went we still had our room key for more) I do wish they would open it up for all attractions and not limit the eticket ones.

Interesting............. we got back 2 weeks ago and FP+ was great. We had no trouble adjusting our selection on the iphone. I agree that the kiosk lines are long. We were able to get 7DMT, Splash, BigThunder all in one day. Our 2nd day at MK we did 7DMT again and FOF FP which was awesome. Able to ride Splash multiple times......without FP.......crowd level was low.

Though it makes me want to spend less time. We are adding more Uni/IOA days to our next trip b/c we feel their park is just more relaxing and enjoyable. I want my youngest to get a full dose of WDW so we will hit the parks, but we would be more willing to spend extra days if I felt it was worth our time. I don't feel that FP+ will make it worth our time...I hope I am wrong, but we were FP- super users so it seems like FP+ is a big downgrade. I won't go into our trip with a bad attitude, because I know we will still have fun, but just won't be spending as much time in WDW.

I corrected my post. I thought I had read that, can you not?? When we went in Nov of last year we still could use our room key after our three.

I still really loved the system. I hope they keep adjusting things to make it even easier for us.

We were at MK today, a very busy day and we were able to change our jungle cruise FP to 7dmt. We changed it at 1:00 and our FP was for 4:25, I really like fp

We were there in early September and it was our first trip with the new system. Before going I hated it. But when we actually started using it, I found this past Disney trip was our most relaxing. Our zigzagging across the park was eliminated. For example at Epcot in the past we'd door bust Test Track for a fast pass, head to Soarin to ride then back to Test Track to ride. That's been eliminated as we now door bust Soarin and do the attractions in that area then make our way to Test Track for our FP+ time. When we wanted addition FP+ there'd sometimes be a person or two in front of us! but never a long wait. I know we went in a very slow time though.

My most annoying kiosk visit was at AK while a woman talked to the CM about what FP is, what attractions she might enjoy, etc all while leaning on the kiosk. The other line moved 4 people and this lady and a CM were talking on, but not using the kiosk.

Other than that we had success with 4th FP. I left EPCOT around 2:45 to head to hotel and stopped at kiosk. Scored test track for 9 ppl for later that night. Also was able to switch splash to space mid day after we had ridden splash a couple times with little wait.

I also changed our last day from HS to MK around 10 the night before and got Splash, space and Jungle Cruise (DD7 wanted that).

The MDE app went down once and lines at kiosk were so long we almost missed an Ariel M&G for a little one and her mom - luckily I got on a kiosk 10 minutes before and sent them on their way. Need to find a better solution there. I had printed my stuff before leaving but changed a few on the fly when we saw the 4 1/2 wasn't interested in thrill like rides.

Some FP kiosk lines can get extremely long. The good thing is that there are multiple locations throughout each park. So the key is to get to the ones that aren't out in the main areas. Some kiosks can have a line of 40 people but if you walk 5 min away to a different one there might not be anyone in line.

With backtracking, that should be all about how you plan your FP's. Figure out what rides you want to do and plan them out on path to go to the next one. If you don't, it's definitely a pain backtracking to get back to rides at specific times.

The wait times on MDE for me always matched the wait times posted. The Wi-Fi in the parks can be iffy, so most of the time I switch it off to update times for MDE. I can load everything else normally fine through their Wi-Fi, but MDE seems to take a stronger connection or something. So maybe that was your problem and you were seeing wait times from last time the app updated for you.

I preferred the old FP just because I hate how much planning in advance you have to do. Shouldn't have to select FP's 30-60 days out, I liked it better the day of. But I don't think FP+ is nearly as bad as some make it to be

We were at Disney last week June/first week of July. We made our FP+ for morning times and never had a problem pulling a 4th or 5th one. We even left MK one day and went to Epcot and immediately got Test Track. Fora 4th we pulled Little Mermaid, Pirates and several others. We looked around to find the most off the beaten past kiosks to add more. We even had friends join us one day and were able to find times to match our times to theirs.

Anyone have trouble getting HS big ticket tides day-of? We are upgrading after check in, and then heading to the park. I used my base tix to do MK FP since these seem to be the most difficult.

Yes it's great that you can change the times of your three pre-booked passes.
Yes it's great that you can book your three rides in advance and can avoid the stampede at rope drop to particular rides.
The tier system stinks - I don't want a fast pass for the second tier rides - in most cases they are not needed.
The one park limit - stinks, but it makes sense. If you did not do this people would book the big ride at each park for every day.
Not being able to get an Epcot pass at a MK kiosk is ridiculous -although sometimes you can????

What is the point of not being able to get your fourth+ fast passes on the app?
Isn't this the whole point of the app..at least when it is not crashing.

I do see a lot of potential with the system if they ever get it right, but currently all I see is millions of wasted dollars.

We were there from 9/13-9/27, it was our first time using FP+. I have to say that I really liked it. My family are not morning people so in the past when we got to the parks, headliners like TSMM would only have return times that were really far out. It was so nice to get there and have a FP during the day.

I made sure to plan them in a route I knew would work well with our touring. It was also nice to have them on the magic bands and not have to dig out the paper slips.

We used the kiosk twice. We got a BTM FP about an hour before park closing. Got RNRC around lunch time.
