Hi All,
Just back last nite. We arrived last Friday evening and stayed 4 nites at the Royal Pacific. We loved the hotel (actually found it much more relaxing and inviting than the Hard Rock-we stayed there 2 years ago).

A couple things...
1. If you can stay on property DO IT! The Front of the Line benefit is well worth the cost of the room - IMHO!
2. If you have them bring all the discount cards you can...we had the Fan Club card, AAA and when we went to get our tickets at the concierge desk they gave us a Destination Orlando Card that was good for 20% off in the parks, etc. What I would do is take all three out and ask which gets me a better deal!
3. If you are a Lowes First member and rent a cabana you get a very good discount - we rented a cabana for 2 days and instead of $75/day it was $40.
4. Have dinner at Tchoup Choup at RPR FABULOUS!!!!!!!
5. Pack with zip lock bags. I bought the 2 1/2 gal and put our clothes in them, squeezed the air out and zipped them up. That made security at the airport so much easier and the agents really appreciated it.

I hope to be able to do a trip report soon...having surgery next week so things are a bit hectic!

Any questions...ask away!
Cora

Welcome back, Cora!

Thanks so much for your post. I have a thread on the resort board right now about whether I should keep my reservations at the RPR or switch to the HRH so I was very interested to read that your preferred the Royal Pacific.

I do have some questions for you:
1. Did you take children (if you have them) with you and if so, which resort did they prefer? And how old are they? (Mine are 8 and 5)
2. Did you get the Entertainment Rate at RPR and if so, did you get your Lowe's First welcome gift?

I woudl love to hear any other info about you want to share about the resort!

Thanks again,

Nicole,
We had our 9 yr old son with us and he loved it! There is this great boat at the pool that spouts water and has these water guns on it that the kids shoot at each other, etc. He never once missed not having a waterslide. Also there is a volleyball net in the pool and he had a great time trying to play that! With regard to the pool, as a parent, I found I could keep an eye on him much better at RPR than at HRH.

We did not have the entertainment rate as we had a package through Southwest Vacations. Even with that we received our Loew's 'gift'.

Hope this helps!
Cora

Welcome home! I stayed at HRH 2 years ago and am trying RPR this time as well!

This is the first I've seen that the Loew's First gets you a discount on the cabanas. That was for the full day? Did you reserve the days you were there? Or did you reserve ahead of time? How did you know about that?

Thanks!

Thanks for the extra info, Cora!

I think we've decided to keep our ressies at RPR for now. Either way, I know I'm going to be wondering what the "other one" is like so I'm going to stick with the one we already have and maybe talk my dh into another trip in the future to try the HRH! ;)

I'm glad to know it's easier to keep an eye on your kids in the pool at RPR. There's nothing worse than that heart-stopping moment when you don't see them in the water!

Thanks again, Cora and good luck on your surgery!

Disney Debbie,
I booked my cabana a day before we left but added an additional day while we were there. When I booked I asked if there were any discounts and I mentioned I was a Loew's First member.

Trust me - you won't be diappointed in RP. I love it. I just wish I could get the $99 rate that was common last year. By the way, you can always walk (or boat) over to HR to check it out.

I just called to rent a cabana for July. I was told there is no discount with Loew's First. I decided to rent the cabana for a half day (8am-3pm). It is $45 for a half day. There was only 1 cabana left, so I'm glad I called today.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time! I can't wait to read your review. We will be at the RPR in July, and hope to have an even better time than last year's HRH visit.

What entrees we the best at Tchoup Chop?

What is the cabana for and what is the Lowes gift? We are Platnium Lowes members. We are planning to stay on site for our first visit in Dec. Thanks!

Each of the hotels at Universal have cabanas near the pool that you can rent for the day. They come with 2 lounge chairs, a refrigerator, ceiling fan and have a small patio area. You also get a set amount of soda and water in your fridge but you can ask for more of one or the other.

The Loew's gift is an item that you choose at check-in. I will probably leave something out but the choices are a fruit bowl, bottled water, wine or milk and cookies. These are delivered once during your arrival day (except the fruit which is the next day after 2p - at least that was at RPR). You make this choice at the same time you select what newspaper you want delivered to your room. Since you are platinum you may want to check the Loew's website since I know you get even more benefits.

I wonder where you can get the Destination Orlando Card before leaving for Florida? Visited the DestinationOrlando website but they say they don't have a card.
