Just wanted to give a mini report to share our observations/experience. DH and I, May 7-18. We go every year for F&G, but missed last year due to a family illness.

Overall experience: fantastic!

Magic Bands: Convenient. Was nice not having to dig out a card for purchases or park entry.

Fast Pass: Mostly good. I was able to make them 60 days out, change them online, or change times on the go in the parks with the app. We did not use the kiosks to make new/additional FPs. I made two FPs for SDMT during our stay. We rode it two additional times via standby. Both SB wait times were under 30 or 40 minutes. It just depends on when you go (evenings were shorter). We bided our time and caught shorter wait periods.

SDMT: my new favorite ride. I'm a coaster wuss, don't ride RRC or EE, but I do like BTM and Barnstormer. SDMT was, to me, just a bit challenging, but very fun. I was able to put my hands in the air (like I just do not care):) for the first time ever on a coaster. Smooth, curvy, very fun.

Absolutely loved the Star Wars fire works show. We didn't do anything else for SW Weekend as we are not diehard fans. The movies are entertaining and enjoyable, but we're not fanatical about them. But the fireworks were "out of this world". Great shells!

Loved the new Illuminations lasers.

People: at times a bit crowded, but we rolled with it. Everyone was pretty much nice, well behaved, and enjoying themselves. All good cast member experiences and interactions.

Flower and Garden: Missed having HGTV speakers, but the ones we did see were informative. Loved seeing all the little instructional gardens throughout Epcot. Hope they keep doing those. Of course, all the flowers and landscaping were beautiful. Loved the food booths too!

Tours: we did Gardens of the World, Magic Behind our Steam Trains, and Segway Wilderness Experience. Oh, and Behind the Seeds, where we had a "tour date" because it was just DH and me and the intern. Love them all! Had great tour guides, very informative and knowledgeable. For the Segway tour, there were only three of us, plus the two guides.

Construction: We didn't explore DD West Side, just from the new bridge over to the Marketplace. Really like how the walkways are opened up with the new bridge. Good improvement there. Walls at AK were a bit distracting and limiting, as people have said. Park didn't have the wild feel we're used to. But we did like how the viewing for the front of the ToL was opened up. I do miss all the trails around the tree. Seems like they are all closed off expect for ITTBAB path and the main east to west path. I remember other paths that meandered through the woods. We do like FoLK's new location, a good extension to Harambe. Didn't get to see new Harambe Marketplace, as it wasn't opened yet. Darn, just missed it, but it'll be there next time. MK construction seemed mostly out of the way. New hub is nice.

Overall we had a great time, ate lots, did lots, even with standby lines we felt we were able to do a bunch. Did we do everything? No, but we aren't pushing to. We're "live in the moment" type of people and we enjoyed every moment. We do all our favorites, and the rest is bonus. And yes, there were many occasions where we still felt the Magic. pixiedust:

Coronado Springs: our home. CMs were all nice. A little saddened by the changes in Pepper Market (we didn't mind the small gratuity when they got our drinks and bussed our tables). Less choices for food than before, but the food was good. On our arrival night, I had the tacos, which were fantastic IMHO. Also later had the nachos which were also really good. Didn't try the other entrees (burgers and such) as we weren't eating there that often. Breakfast was pretty standard. We ate a couple breakfasts there, but mostly cereal in our room (money saving tip).

Another money saving tip is that DH and I shared and split some meals. Allowed both of us to try different things and stretched the dollars. Especially with the F&G food booths. Splitting those little things allowed us to try more of them.

Hope this helps you all with your planning. Just wanted to share that a great time is still possible. We're positive people, so we keep up a good attitude. The magic will find you.

I love reading the "just returned" posts. They're always so helpful in planning. Thanks for sharing your experiences!!

Glad you had a good time. I'm always jealous reading "just back" threads. Makes me want to go tomorrow. Thanks for sharing some of the magic

Would love to hear more about the Segway tour at Fort Wilderness. We had this booked one year, but then cancelled. We did the Around the World tour at Epcot (which is no longer offered) and really enjoyed it, so I am curious what the Wilderness Segway tour is like!

The Fort Wilderness Segway tour is even better than the one at Epcot, although we enjoyed that one too, several times. At Fort Wilderness, you ride a different model Segway that has off-road tires (big ones!) that allow you to go off the paths. The tour starts in the same way as at Epcot, where they teach you how to ride and make sure you are safe and in control. Then you go on a fabulous tour through the campground, quick stop at the stables to see the horses, then off on the path to Wilderness Lodge. About half of the tour is on paved roads and paths, and about half is through the woods on dirt/sand/grassy trails. Along the way the tour guide talks about Florida nature, Disney history, and a bit of other fun facts. We enjoy this tour and highly recommend it. Lots of fun. Say Hi to Forrest for us. Really nice guy.

When will construction walls at AK be down? I guess no time soon?

Any tips for navigating around them?

Great report, love reading these! It's so nice to do a trip where you don't feel rushed to do it all. That's how I'm hoping our next trip in July will be.

Planning on booking the Magic Behind Steam Trains tour for my 10yo son and my DH. I've heard it's great but I think my son wants it to just be something he does with his dad.
Glad you enjoyed it.

i don't mean to judge, but personally, as the adult and the one paying, I'd be doing that your if you're interested in it too regardless of if DS wants to just do it with dad.

Thanks for the report! We'll be going during F&G next year ... anything we should not miss?

Hi... Just curious on what has changed. We leave this Sunday for Coronado Springs and it has been 5 years since we were there. I do not remember a gratuity being charged? The food was good from what I remember.... Would love your feedback!!!

We really enjoy the little individual display gardens throughout the park. Hoping they continue that, as we always learn some new technique or display method. The food booths are great! Check out the festival center (old Wonders of Life pavillion) for speaker talks, Master Gardeners, etc. There's a nice little film that tells how they put the whole festival together, from planning to planting.

The layout of the food area has changed since we had been there two years ago. There used to be a "market" feel to the place, with cooking stations around where the open area is now. Now all the cooking is done behind the counters, more "food court" style. Somewhat fewer choices than we remember (no calzone at the pizza counter, Chinese station is gone). But there is more space to move around now, less congested feeling. They also used to greet you at the entrance, give you a card that was stamped with your food choices, seat you, and get your drinks. After you ate, there were people there to bus your dishes and trays. A 10% "gratuity" was added to your bill, which we didn't mind for the service we got.
All this is gone, you get your own table, drinks, and bus your dishes (although sometimes there were people there that helped you out).

The food is still good, freshly prepared. We enjoyed the few meals we had (breakfasts and dinners). I didn't care for the scrambled eggs with cheese in them, but there's also a choice to get them without the cheese. Tacos and nachos were yummy! The beverage cups all come with an RF chip to regulate refills (I think you get 4 within a certain window of time--couple hours I think). Oh, the desserts were yummy too. LOL. We'd go back at night and get a cake or something.

Look for the little alligator that hangs out by the bridge. We also saw a big turtle/terrapin swimming around.

Enjoy your time!!!

We really enjoyed the Steam Trains tour. Lots of history about Walt and Roy, the trains themselves. You learn all about how the steam trains work, how they get them ready every morning, how to light them, etc. You go back to the roundhouse, and get to go into the cab of the engine in small groups and the tour guide explains the parts and function of what's there. Very neat!

I've read construction will be ongoing for quite some time (til next year?). You can't really go around them, just pass them by. A lot of them are decorated with scenes, trees, characters, Walt Disney quotes, etc. So at least they're interesting. They're most noticeable on the paths from Flame Tree, past Finding Nemo, over towards EE.

Thanks. I wanted to share that we did experience some magic. I'd been reading a lot of negative posts lately, so I'm happy to report that the magic still exists! CMs were wonderful. Whole experience was fabulous.

Believe me, if I really wanted to do it I would but at the price ($50+ per person) I think I'm okay with just letting the two of them go. If I go, then my daughter (12yo) would want to do as well, so another $100 shelled out for it. Nah...instead we'll find something else to do that morning while they are taking the tour and since they can take photos I'm sure they will share with us later!

I booked it for my son and husband over the weekend. I'm sure they are going to have a great time!

Dang it, the trails are still closed? Does anyone know if they will be open in November? They were closed last time I was there and I was hoping they'd be open this year.

OP, Glad you enjoyed your trip.
