Just back: gripes and opinions

I don't see the big deal in posting something like this. For as much money as it costs to go to WDW, what's wrong with someone having issues with things that fall below your expectations? Of course, you can't please all of the people, all of the time but I don't think there is anything wrong with the OP's opinions.

BUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN ANYONE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SMALL WORLD!!!! That's just Blasphemy!!!! :worried:

Also, I think the person that commented about ECV vehicles for convenience is getting flamed for no reason. People abuse everything and I know some people probably get the vehicles because they don't feel like doing all that walking. When we went in April, DH suggested that I should have gotten one because I was pregnant and my feet swelled up like balloons and I kept taking rests. Talk about getting flamed!!! I lost my Disney attitude for a minute! :teeth: But if I had taken him up on that I would one of those folks the poster is refering to.

I wrote the ECV comment...
Thank you - I appreciate your comment. As for your comment about getting an ECV for yourself, I think you should have. People can use them for whatever they want - it is the individual's perogative and bill. I take acception to the people that use it and then try to intentionally get preferential consideration and the negative consequences it ultimately has on people that do not. I did not mean any ill will or to start a fight.

...it really is a terrific sandwich in my HUMBLE opinion of course

Actually that restaurant in general is great (in my humb...... ah whatever!)

I know what you mean Deb!! I get the feeling that I have to write "in my opinion" after everything I write !! Isn't it kind of obvious that if I write it then it is my opinion?

I work in a business and company where opinions are actively solicited and cherished. Maybe that is why I have no problem expressing them. I guess I was kind of taken aback when folks on the board felt the need to continually remind everyone that "it was only my opinion", as though opinions are of little value.

On the contrary, opinions (when backed with information, specifics, and detail) are the best thing this board has to offer!!

Columbia Harbour House, near the Haunted Mansion.

Nice-sized tuna sandwich on toasted bread, served with potato chips. There may be a quieter upstairs area there too, but I didn't check for it. My wife has some type of humus/tomatoe/veggie sandwich and enjoyed it as well. My daughter had the macaroni and cheese... so-so.

If someone had told me before we'd gone that I'd be ordering a tuna sandwich while at WDW, I'd have thought they were nuts. But, I had a cold and not much appealed to me. I just wanted a nice basic sandwich. It was very yummy! Hubby had the fish & chicken basket and said it was really good too.

Ah yes I sooooo love that fish and chicken basket. And opinions are one of the things that makes the DIS boards great. Do I have to agree with everyone........noooo but I do appreciate others opinons it gives me a bit of a heads up. And if you think something should be change by all means WRITE Disney and let them know. I'm sure they apperciate thoughts on how to make the happiest place on earth even happier. :thumbsup2

Oh and on EVC and wheelchairs my grandmother (if I can talk her into it) uses a wheelchair and what I hate is seeing people ABUSE the chairs making them into ride attractions to play on. :furious: The are for people with disablities or having trouble getting around they aren't toys. I think that maybe what the poster was talking about.

I agree! I have started saying In my opinion on here now too. I shouldn't be embarrassed to share what I think  --no one should. We should all recognize an opinion for what it is--one person's thoughts and beliefs. :goodvibes

The Tram is a good example. Stinky diesel engines operating in FRONT of open air passenger conveyors is just a really bad idea. Its not really an "opinion" per se, its kind of a fact. The level to which it might bother someone is a matter of personal preferance, I suppose, but from an engineering standpoint and a customer health standpoint, the Trams are decades and decades behind what is generally acceptable. If we want Disney to remain great, suggesting that folks should "use WDW transp and don't get near the trams" is beside the point.

rrsafety, I want to give you a little added info on this topic. I moved here almost 2 years ago fromt he 6th largest city in our beautiful country. In Phila, and 4 of it's surrounding counties, you must get an emmissions inspection for your auto, along with the required state inspection every year (hybrids are exempt from emmissions). In the state of FL there are no inspections required. NONE. No emmissions requirements either. Basically, if you have a car that may be ready for the junk yard, BUT it runs, you can operate it. This bothers me quite a bit, as I drive quite a lot around here. I don't hink you see this so much on Disney property, but if you travel on any of the toll roads, I-4 or any local roads around Orlando, you'll start to notice. Maybe you need to seend a note on this topic to W's brother Jeb.

:)

While I am being mostly serious, I really think that the problem is that the emmissions are not controlled in this state - if they were I think it would be a betterment to the state.

just my opinion. :)

-How about if everyone that is riding in an ECV or w/c for convenience would wait in lines for buses and rides like the rest of us.

We just got back from a trip where 2 people in our party had to use ECV's (DH has a torn ligament and needs surgery, MIL recently had foot surgery as well). I thought they were the biggest pain in the rear! It drove me nuts to get in the park and have to wait 10 minutes for them to get their ECV's while everybody's walking past us getting on rides (yes, I am like a little kid when I get in the parks, I'm impatient to have fun). On several different rides we had to wait for elevators for the ECV's. It was just plain cumbersome. I can only recall a couple rides where having the ECV's saved us any waiting time (wait times were really short last week anyway, so it wasn't an issue). I feel blessed that my DH's situation is temporary and we won't need it next trip. I can't imagine paying $35/day for one of those things if you didn't really need it for some reason.

I'll tell you what was annoying--you wouldn't believe the number of people who would see DH or MIL coming and walk right out in front of them. Those things don't stop on a dime, people! Obviously sometimes people didn't see us coming and that's fine, I'm talking about the people who did it on purpose. Some people seem to pack everything but their brain (and manners) when they go on vacation!

- ok on the subject of disney trams i agree with you. they should invest in elctricity but that could also sky rocket the prices of disney tickets to mantain this. that wouldnt be to good :sad2:

- The figment topic now. I think personally figment is wonderful. im 16 years old and it still is one of my favorite rides now at EPCOT :thumbsup2 . along with the globe. Yes i agree i like the old figment better. The new one is kinda strange useing the 5 senses but i can see how they tried by throwing us into the dark and hearing a train. Hearing and then imagineing that a train is passing by us. Also, in the upside down room where its like "could you imagine if we had to walk on the roof?" stuff like that. all in all i think its a really good ride :rolleyes2

-Alright about the cast memeber now. you have to remember where you are. You are in the Magic Kingdom. He was just trying to make your leave more memorable. Ive never heard him but i have heard cast memebers shout random things out and I for one join along :rotfl: . Its the magic of it all.

- I think the cast memebers are very friendly

-never have had problems on winnie the pooh or peter pan. Except that whenever i go peter pan is always an extremely long and boring wait in tight cramped areas :scared:. thats the only problem i have with peter pan.Winnie the pooh usually goes pretty quickly and the wait line is usually very neat to see and look around.

- Im a huge stitch fan and when i heard of the stitch ride i begged to go to disney. I guess im one of the few who think this ride is awesome and amazing. I love the effects and its great. :stitch:

- It tough to be a bug was extremely intense. I was 8 when i first experienced the ride and i cried along with my sister who was 4 at the time. It was scary to hear everything and watch all that come towards your face. Now that im 16 im ready to try it again but with great fear. My sister now 12 refuses. :guilty:
