Just back: gripes and opinions

We just returned from a 10 day WDW vacation. I must say, I noticed the CMs were much more friendly than they have ever been on my prior vacations. Our trip was extra magical this time and they made it that way. Can't wait to return in a year...I hope the next trip will be as great as this one.

*No flames please* Basicallly everything on that list I totally disagree with you on...but to each his own.

I'd appreciate your input. I'd be interested in your views on a few of my comments that you "totally disagree with me on". Particularly these:

- Also ready for the scrap heap is the Magic of Disney Animation, featuring a lame "live animator" and a pre-taped Mushu. Eddie Murphy's constant wise-cracking and sarcasm spoils what could be a learning opportunity and makes it simply a crass exercise.

- The beginning of the Back Lot tour at MGM featuring the PT boat is good, the rest of the tour is a big zero.

- Stitch's Great Escape was so-so, and the final segment of the Carousel of Progress has to be totally redone.

- I still say they should drop the "poacher" storyline from the Safari.

- Festival of the Lion King is good (especially the beginning), but once Timon takes center stage, it loses most of its impact.

- There should be a longer singing program at the American Pavillion.

I see the point you're making, however for me...

I'm not looking for something that I have to put that much thought into while I'm on vacation. It's an amusement attraction, it doesn't have to be educational or follow some expectation to the letter, it just need to be entertaining for me. It doesn't have to have a higher message or a moral to the story.

I take my vacation to get away from it all and to let my hair down. I'm not looking for a message that says anything more than "I'm fun!" or "relax and enjoy!"

But that's just me, again, it's different for everyone.

Many posters in this thread have related that they have never had a bad experience with a cast member. I can't say that we have either. However, we have been regulars at Disney since 1996, on average we visit two times a year for about 7 days each. During that time we have noticed a general, nothing that I can really specify, decline in the quality of cast members that we have encountered. That is not to say that we haven't met great people, we have, but, overall, the attitudes of the castmembers has declined. I don't really have a specific example, so, please don't grill me on this topic. Just an unscientific observation with absolutely no concrete evidence to support (or deny) it. In other words, do not take this as fact, it is simply an opinion.

You have stated it better than I did in the original post. I should have said that I didn't have a "bad experience", just not as consistently good...

Opinion thread's crack me up. I try my best to use this forum for information and advice based on fact, not opinion. No offense, but what you and I like might vary greatly, and if I let negative opinion's effect me, I'd never leave the house. But that's just my opinion. :rotfl2:

Thanx for the observations and comments.

I'd say about 90% of the threads here are opinion threads....

Was the tuna sandwich from Columbia Harbour House? Those are the best!!!!

How about if everyone that is riding in an ECV or w/c for convenience would wait in lines for buses and rides like the rest of us.

I was just in Disney World during the busiest time of year. Dec. 23-31. There were plenty of folks in wheelchairs and ECV's. I must say I didn't find it an issue at all. It never caused us to miss attractions or shows and would only delay the bus departure slightly. Definitely not to the point where it was inconvenient. I for one am glad that Disney has decided to make things easier for people who need a little extra assistance.

One person in our party required an ECV one day at Universal. He's getting a little older and his knees were not handling all the walking very well. So I can definitely sympathize with people who require these means of transportation. Believe me, if they could just as easily walk around the parks I'm sure they would. I know that I'll be going to WDW until they literally have to bury me in the ground, and if that means at some point I'll need a wheel chair, ECV or a throng of worshipers to carry me around, so be it. I'll enjoy it until I can't enjoy it any longer. And it will definitely not be my intention to get a leg up on every other guest. I just want to enjoy it just the same.

Please explain how one would know who was using the ECV's for convenience or not......

In answer to your question.....the ACTUAL people that were doing it would know - and ONLY they would know (unless they were dumb enough to mouth off about how they were able to pull one over on people - and some are that dumb !!).
To early responders that flamed me for this, read what I wrote please - don't read INTO what I wrote. I never made any type of comment regarding any other users of these devices nor did I imply that a mere glimpse could disclose the nature of one's need for the devices. And I say this as one that was pushing a w/c carrying a disabled family member through WDW on this past trip.

Im sure that most people in a wheelchair would gladly give you their place in the bus line if you would like to take their disability for them.

I guess I add this to make the observation that we all have different tastes, and different likes. You mentioned several things that are some of our favorites. Just because it may not be your favorite, doesn't mean it can't be mine. And vice versa.

Best Wishes for you and your family. :)

I don't recall suggesting otherwise....

What I DO find curious is that those who say "they like" a particular thing provide very few specifics as to why it couldn't be improved. For instance, Figment is okay, but could be alot better, and yet many seem to think "okay" is good enough ... or the fact that the Festival of the Lion King starts with so much promise and then kind of devolves into light kiddie faire....

Regarding strollers.... I'd rather have every kid under 10 in a stroller rather than having some of them turn into Satan around 4pm. For those who criticize strollers, the alternative is even worse....

I don't see the big deal in posting something like this. For as much money as it costs to go to WDW, what's wrong with someone having issues with things that fall below your expectations? Of course, you can't please all of the people, all of the time but I don't think there is anything wrong with the OP's opinions.

BUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN ANYONE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SMALL WORLD!!!! That's just Blasphemy!!!! :worried:

Also, I think the person that commented about ECV vehicles for convenience is getting flamed for no reason. People abuse everything and I know some people probably get the vehicles because they don't feel like doing all that walking. When we went in April, DH suggested that I should have gotten one because I was pregnant and my feet swelled up like balloons and I kept taking rests. Talk about getting flamed!!! I lost my Disney attitude for a minute! :teeth: But if I had taken him up on that I would one of those folks the poster is refering to.

Tim, who really doesn't mean any ill will, but wants his dw :earsgirl: to enjoy her trip without thinking people believe her to be lazy and inconsiderate for using an ECV. :love2:

Oh wow!! That's so lovely. What a nice man you are. Your wife is blessed to have you. Wishing you and your DW many more happy trips to WDW :goodvibes

Where is the restaurant with the great tuna sandwich located? My DH loves tuna sandwiches! I appreciate you sharing your opinions, positive or not, and I agree that a lot of what I read here are opinions and not fact. My husband may get the tuna sandwich and hate it! LOL. But it's nice to have a heads-up on things, especially the Bug's Life with 5 and 6 year olds in tow.

The "great tuna sandwish" (that would be a great name for a new attraction :rotfl2: ) is located at Columbia Harbor House in Magic Kingdom and I heartily agree, it really is a terrific sandwich in my HUMBLE opinion of course :rotfl:

Actually that restaurant in general is great (in my humb...... ah whatever!)

Columbia Harbour House, near the Haunted Mansion.

Nice-sized tuna sandwich on toasted bread, served with potato chips. There may be a quieter upstairs area there too, but I didn't check for it. My wife has some type of humus/tomatoe/veggie sandwich and enjoyed it as well. My daughter had the macaroni and cheese... so-so.
