We are just back from our Spring Break trip (Me, DH, DS4, DD15months). I am a teacher, so unless I have been on maternity leave, we have to go during peak time. This is a quick review of our wonderful trip!
Food:
We tried some new restaurants, all of which we LOVED! We will be visiting all of the following again on future trips to the world!
1. Via Napoli - We shared a large margherita pizza and it was amazing! Probably the best meal of the trip.
2. Skipper's Canteen - I had the appetizer arepas for my meal and was seriously good! Enough for a complete meal for sure and only 9 dollars!
3. Mama Melrose - My husband's flat bread was better than my mussels. But, his was so good that we would not hesitate going back.
4. Beaches and Cream - We ordered ice cream to go once (yummy!) and then ate there again for lunch and were pleased both times! My son turned 4 on our trip and they announced his birthday to restaurant, gave him a balloon and made him a Mickey whipped cream sundae. It was a great experience!
5. The giant Mickey Rice Crispy Treat from the Main Street Confectionery was a HUGE hit! It was so good and soft, and everyone in our party (total of 8 when we met up with my sister) were able to share it.
Our Stay:
We stayed at the Swan and Dolphin (Swan) and loved, loved, LOVED it! The walking access to HS and Epcot was perfect! Our kids used this time to take naps and DH and I enjoyed the views of the boardwalk and beautiful resorts. We had a view of HS Star Wars fireworks from our window, so we watched them in our room almost every night.
The Parks:
Although the crowd levels were high, we were able to do everything we had hoped for with no issues thanks to FP+ and arriving at rope drop each morning. A few stops made this trip extra special for the kids.
1. Meeting Mickey at MK - We got a FP+ for this (some people on the boards recommended getting one, others did not) We are so glad we did. This Mickey is special because he TALKS! My son is also train obsessed and Mickey and DS played trains together. It was so perfect! Mickey also sang Happy Birthday to him and DS still talking about it today. It is a memory we will cherish for sure! I actually teared up a bit.
2. The PP line was really cool! I would recommend it if the wait is 30 minutes or less. We rode it early and enjoyed seeing the bedrooms, and the playing with the shadow magic.
3. SDMT - My son was finally tall enough to do this ride! He loved it! We did rider swap on this and he was able to ride it 4 times.
4. Going to Disney Springs on a Wednesday versus a Saturday makes a huge difference in crowds. We will be planning a mid-week visit on the next trip again for sure. The dance party there was so much fun and WPE was had plenty of open tables and shorter lines than we were used to.
5. We left the parks each day around 2:00 and returned around 4:30. This works wells for us with little ones. We also avoid the craziness of the afternoon crowds. The kids come back for the evening rested and happy.
Usually a week long trip seems long enough, but this time, we just weren't ready to come home!! As always, we can't wait to plan the next trip! DS is already asking when we can go back! I hope it will be soon!
