Just back - got fat - the places we blame

We just returned from our trip to WDW. We were there for 10 days, and basically ate our way through the world (I gained 6 lbs, my DH 8 lbs.) Needless to say we are now eating rabbit food, and reminiscing fondly about all of those wonderful restaurants. Here is where we ate:

Character Meals

Cape May Cafe - We did this twice because we were staying at the BCV. Great character interaction. Loved Dottie our waitress. Good buffet.

Crystal Palace - A bit of a zoo. Check in is a bit of a wait, and was on our prior trip. Food ok. Characters rushed and had to stay for 1 hour to see all of them.

Princess Breakfast (Epcot) - Loved it! Good food, great service. Best character interaction. Saw Jasmine, Mulan, Sleeping Beauty, Belle and Snow White. We met Jasmine the day before in the Morroco pavillion, and she remembered my daughter's name (impressive!). We have done Cindy's breakfast in the past, and this one is much better.

Theme Park Restaurants

LTT (MK) - Always good and restful. A nice break from the heat.

Rose and Crown (Epcot) - Food was fine, nothing to rave about. Our server was really sweet, but messed up our order a couple of times (why don't they write down the order?). I think we will pass on this one on next trip.

Japan (Epcot) - Teppanyaki - Fun! Food was typical of this type of restaurant. We were seated with another family at random who was from our area! Too funny. The chef was great and very entertaining.

LeCellier (Epcot) - Yum! Wonderful food! Loved the cheese soup, and very tender steak! Good service.

BC/YC

We stayed at the BCV, so we tried the restaurants here:

Beaches and Cream - I blame the management of this place for at least 2 - 3 pounds of our weight gain! We used carryout for treats (try the orange dream!) and for dinner one night.

Hurricane Hanna's - Fine for pool service. The fruit boat helps to make up for the sins at Beaches and Cream. Why does this place close so early when Stormalong Bay is crowded in the evenings?

Yachtsman's - Good meal. Steaks not as good as LeCellier. Probably would skip on the next trip. Dessert sampler is yummy and fun to try.

Room Service - These people did a great job, especially with special requests for a picky preschooler.

Fort Wilderness

Trails End Buffet - We love this place. Good buffet at reasonable price, and a good lunch escape from the MK. We also enjoy the petting farm and pony rides.

Hoop Dee Doo - The food is ok, but the show is lots of fun. Service just ok. I think other tables around us had more animated servers.

Boardwalk

Spoodles - Good food. Very loud. Whoever is managing this place should be replaced. We waited forever with a PS to get a table. There was a big crowd in the waiting area. There were also many, many empty tables in the restaurant. They guy who took us to our table had a bad attitude and should look for work elsewhere . I do not know if they were short-staffed or what was wrong, but to take it out on the patrons is not good for business.

Big River Grill - Good service, good food (big salads for lunch).

The best...

Palio - OUTSTANDING. Great food, great service! Loved it! The musicians that came to the table were delightful!

The Worst

Rainforest Cafe (Downtown Disney)

Terrible service with a lousy attitude. We ordered an appetizer, salads and an entree to share, and they brought all of the food out at once. The server got really rude when we asked that our entree be removed and served after the other things. Save your money, time and calories.

Thanks for the reviews! All of the restaurants you chose sound wonderful!!! I was just there in April, and can't wait to go again in October! I better start thinking about what PS's I am going to make! :)

Your thread title is hilarious! Thanks for the informative reviews.

Thanks for the reviews..

We will be eating at many places you ate at in just a few weeks....better get the Slim Fast now for when we get home! LOL:p

Teppanyaki - We're going there for the first time. What did you have? Was it good entertainment? How long did the meal take?

Thanks for your info.

Thanks for your reviews! We too prefer Le Cellier over the Yachtsman.

Thanks for the fab reviews. I've gained 6 pounds reading them!!!

Thanks for the responses!

In Japan, we had a variety of meats (lobster, steak, chicken and scallops). All very good. Lots of white rice, veges and noodles. No one had room for dessert. With regard to the time, we all drank too much wine, because no one remembers how long we were there! I would guess 90 minutes. ;)

Thanks for the reviews! Le Cellier and Beaches and Cream are two of our favorites, too!

Loved those cheesy-oniony potatoes here..... they were probably good for a pound of weight.

Thanks for taking the time to post your reviews--they were great! :)

What is in the dessert sampler at the Yachtsman? Sounds interesting!

Also, what day and what time did you dine at Spoodles? We have a PS for our upcoming trip at 5:30pm for a Thursday, and I'm wondering if certain times or days are worse than others. Thanks!

Our PS at Spoodles was on Saturday at 7pm, a busy time. We don't mind waiting for a table, even with a PS, but the restaurant had several empty tables. I am curious what went wrong that night. The food is good. I hope you enjoy it! :) My 3 year old loved it, and when I asked her which restaurant she wants to go back to she said "Spoodles." She thinks it is funny that it rhymes with noodles (her favorite food!).

At the steakhouse, the sampler was made up of small portions of the dessert offerings that night. There was a white chocolate cheesecake (to die for ;) that probably accounted for 1/4 of a pound weight gain. Another slice of something sinful with nuts, and a slice of a chocolate dessert. There was also a cone standing upright that was filled with what appeared to be raspberry sorbet (I saved myself for the cheesecake and a bite of chocolate, my DH inhaled the rest!). There may have been more. When you eat like we did on this trip, at some point it all becomes a high calorie haze!;)

Enjoy!

Great reviews! Love the humor!

Palio sounds like a winner. What did you eat?

:MJS,
Thanks for the info! Saturday night at 7pm is probably a busier time than when we are planning to dine at Spoodles, so hopefully we'll be okay!

At Palio, we split a risotto with grilled veges appetizer (yummy!). It was prepared to perfection. I also had the caesar salad and my entree was veal with spinach. The veal was very thinly cut and wonderful! My hubby also had a salad and a seafood pasta dish that he said was excellent!

This restaurant is outstanding!

Cute title for your thread...caught my attention. Thanks for the reviews. We've eaten at the Yachtsman and loved it, but are definitely trying Le Cellier next trip!
