Woweeeee, I had a super fantastic time staying at Wyndam Palms it was awesome! I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw the resort. It's very nice.

We booked the timeshare rate $35 thru Hotelkingdom. We did the timeshare and were treated like royalty. No pressure at all, very nice sales people that were pleasant and no high pressure tactics. Made some great friends there too. Even check-in was a breeze and had great service the whole week we were there.

Our room was the 1 bd deluxe villa, with the 52" big screen tv. We were located on the 3rd floor facing WDW and could watch the fireworks from either our screened in balcony or from the whirlpool tub which was a blast!!!

The bldg we were in was #18 and right next to the pool/kiddie pool with the mushroom fountain. We were able to swim most anytime in the day or evening.

Of course we spent time at WDW, Downtown disney, City Walk and SeaWorld. But we really loved staying in a villa/condo. I have stayed onsite many times and in all sizes of hotel rooms, but this is soooooooooooooooo much better. Our room was extremely large and I kind of felt guilty since there were just the two of us staying there. But it was so nice that it felt good to be pampered that way.

There are plenty of restaurants down 192 both for breakfast and dinner. The fact that you are so close to WDW is amazing. Easy to get to and fast. All in all, our stay was fun and would love to go back.

If ya'll have any questions just ask!

:wave2:

We stayed at the Wyndham Palms for 8 nights last year. It was a nice condo to be sure...but we did not pay the extra $ for daily housekeeping - big mistake! When I was making beds and cleaning the bathroom, while DH was on the couch with the remote in front of that huge tv, it did NOT feel like I was on vacation! From now on, it's a resort for me on every trip!

wdisneelvr,
I agree Wyndham Palms is awesome. We stayed in a 2BR Villa recently. I wish I were back there now. As much as I enjoy staying on-site, it'll be tuff staying in a Disney hotel again, where an entire standard room would fit into the master bathroom at Wyndham Palms.

I thought Wyndham Palms was nice for the price and definitely nicer than a cramped hotel room, but we had the building furthest from any pool-- what a hassle to drive to the pool. We'll spend the extra on a nicer condo next time. The new Hilton on I drive looks like it will be great! Hoping for new resort specials.

I agree tigger, we loved it and wouldn't hesitate a bit going back there!

We had no problems with housekeeping, we never needed it. We were hardly ever there. LOL I made the bed and we washed towels when needed. We didn't use any glasses or dishes in the kitchen, we always ate out.

I just couldn't believe how much room was inside of those villa's. I was totally blown away!!!

:)

Sorry you found the drive to the pool to be a hassle. We stayed at a condo pretty far from the main pool, and it only took 1 minute tops to drive there. It was quicker than walking to the pool at most of the Disney resorts. Perhaps the complimentary golf cart ride to the pool that they offer would have been more enjoyable. As far as staying at a nicer condo, I've tried a few, and Wyndham Palms is by far the nicest. I wasn't aware that Hilton had built condos on I-Drive. Where are they located?

That sounds like a beautiful place!

I have a few questions ---

Can you tell me about the timeshare presentation - how long it was, what time they offer it, etc...We'll have our 2 kids in tow.

Any idea what a 2 bedroom costs per night?

Also do you know how much extra it is for the daily housecleaning service? Is it something you could have them do every other day?

Thanks for a great report and for answering the ???s!

:) :) :)

Yes, because we were in building 26 (the furthest from the pools), the drive to the pool was a big hassle. Really, we used the pools much less than we would have because they were not close-- no late night swims, etc. The golf carts stop running at 8 p.m. during the week, but run a bit later on weekends. When they were running, my kids enjoyed the golf cart rides.

My sister stayed in one bedroom of the condo both on this trip and the last, and friends who live locally visited us, and we all agreed that Vistana Villages was a much nicer condo develpment-- hands down. In all fairness V.V. is also much more expensive. I don't know if you could find a two bedroom for twice the price as the Hotelkingdom prices for the Wyndham Palms.

They are building a new HGVC in Orlando.

Ramseytrio,

When I was there in March, the cleaning fee was $35 per request which included cleaning bathrooms, kitchen, placing the dishes in the dishwasher for you & turning it on, replace towels, make beds, take out trash, etc. That was the price for a 2 bedroom cleaning, not sure if it is different for a 1 or 3 bedroom.

momof2inpa,
if you would ever want to stay there again, you can ask for a villa closer to a pool, depending on the time of year you go, they will try their best to accomodate you, we asked for a certain location & were accomodated. my sister asked for a villa in our same building the day she checked in even though she checked in after us & they placed her in our same building just a couple floors above us.

In my opinion, even if you requested a daily cleaning, the rates found on hotelkingdom.com for a 2 bedroom per night + the $35 cleaning fee per day would beat the nightly rates in quite a few HOTELS (just a little bitty hotel room) in the Orlando area. I dont understand why people complain about not having daily cleaning service with the nightly rates that are offered here, pay the extra if you want someone to come & clean for you, you sure pay for it hidden in the price when you rent just a hotel room & dont have anywhere near as much space as a 2 bedroom 1500+ sq ft villa at Wyndham Palms!

Actually, Vistana Villages and Wyndham Palms both run promo specials throughout the year. I've seen a 2 BR villa at Vistana for as low as $79.00 per night. Hotel Kingdom recently offered a Wybdham Palms 2BR villa for $88.00. Both are nice developments, and a great alternative to expensive on-sight resorts.

Tigger Woods,

Where do you finds those specials for V.V.? I really would like to stay there.
Thanks

Cinamin27,

I requested weeks in advance to be near a pool and again at check-in, and again after receiving my villa assignmnet. They would or could not accomodate. We did have a three bedroom, so it may have been more difficult, and we did arrive on Columbus Day weekend. When I made my original request, the person on the phone said, "Pools are within walking distance of any building." From this site, I knew that was not true. Oh well, we made the best of it, but we will not do it again.

Tigger Woods,
Last Nov. we stayed at V.V. in a two bedroom for $119 per night, but I watched for months and could find no cheap rates. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Do you have any suggestions? My next trip is September, 2005.

Most of the deals I've found at different times of the year were on Hotelkingdom.com

I think you are right about the 3 bd villa and requesting a room closer to a pool, they are harder to get. We were there on Columbus Day weekend as well but our bldg wasn't at all crowded. You can never tell with timeshares where you are going to end up.

If it wasn't for the fact that we are moving to Orlando in a few months, I'm sure we would have bought into the timeshare. The villa's are the biggest I've seen yet.

Getting really excited now. The bags SHOULD be packed, but aren't yet. For those recent visitors of the Wyndham Palms, could you tell me what we need to pack for the villa?? Do we need coffee filters, and if so what type? Cleaning supplies? I know we will need to make a stop for some groceries, and was hoping to do so on the way to the villa. Wondered what we would need to avoid a second trip to the store.

Thanks in advance for your help. :Pinkbounc

Don't know how long you are staying, so you still may need some items.

Our villa had:

1 sm bottle dish soap
3 sm garbage bags
1 sm dishwasher detergent
2 sm boxes laundry detergent
1 roll paper towels
2 rolls toilet paper
1 box tissue paper
1 broom/dust pan

The full size kitchen is stocked with glasses, cups, plates, bowls, silverware, knives etc.

The bathrooms had:

4 extra large bath towels
4 lighter weight bath towels
4 hand towels
4 wash clothes
2 med. bars soap

Just what I needed to know. We are only going to be there for 5 nights then moving to the HRH for our last 2 nights. What they supply should be sufficient.

Condosavers.com is one place that has offered some great promo rates for V.V. in the past. Like HotelKingdom.com, they will feature a property occasionally. Right now, the cheapest rate I can find on the web for a 2BD villa at V.V. is 135.00 per night. Wyndham Palms is coming up at 130.00 per night.

I have been waiting to see how you liked it!! So glad you did! We were in building #18 also, and we also saw the fireworks from our balcony!

And just so the rest of you know, when we ran out of paper towels or toilet paper or garbage bags, I just called the housekeeping/maintenance number on the phone, requested more, and they usually had it at our door in 10 minutes.
