We have found our new favorite place in the "world"! My dh loved the resort so much he is now talking about buying into DVC (crossing fingers!). We were there just for the weekend to celebrate dd's 5th birthday. This was our first stay at WL and I can say that it definately won't be the last.
We arrived around 10:30 am on Fri. 12-10. Our room wasn't ready yet, so they gave us a card with a number on it to call later on to get our room #. After we were done checking in, they asked which character was dd's favorite. We told them any of the princesses. When we got into our room later that night, there was a card from Snow White and balloons wishing Kirstin a happy birthday! She was so excited that Snow White had signed a card just for her.
We had room 4032. We could see the castle from our room (through the trees though). It was hard to see during the day, but when it was lit at night, you could see it perfectly. We also could see the CR, and the monorail. On our last night we watched "Wishes" from our balcony, and could even hear the music! We had no problems with noise, all the cm's were very nice, and the resort was beautiful! Any questions, ask away!
p.s. We also rubbed Humphrey's nose in memory of FloridaCat....my dh was wondering why I was crying in the lobby! :earboy2:

The Wilderness Lodge is a great place to stay and I'm glad you had a great trip.... and KIRSTIN'S MOMMY...well done on the Humphrey's nose thing, I bet FloridaCat was watching and got a kick out of it.... a real memory!

Welcome back :earboy2:

I will be visiting the WL in Feb. with my DH, DD 3 1/2 and DS 5. I am worried about the room size. My kids fight a lot and I am afraid that the close quarters will make things worse. Are there any must do activities at the WL for us to try?
Tara :flower1:

I have the same concern as Tara. Our kids are 6-1/2, 5 and 1. WL tells us we can fit in the room with the baby in a pack-n-play, but I'm worried it will be too tight quarters. My kids love the "wilderness" them so we're leaning toward a FW cabin for the extra space but I'd really like to try WL. Any advice from those who have stayed at WL with multiple kids? Thanks.

Yes, I'm curious about the room size too--did you happen to have bunk beds, and if so, did that open it up a bit? Also, was your room considered a 'woods view'? And, did you try any of the restaurants or room service? Thanks! :D

:thewave: I stayed in the room right above you on the 5th floor.. That is a woods view..did you see the otter in the otter pond, I DID!! WEEEEEEEEEE.

We loved seeing the castle and the wishes fireworks at night. I absolutely adore the WL. I really cant wait to go back again.

they have the wonderful electric water parade at night. My son and I love to rent the bikes and ride over to ft wilderness and go to the petting zoo.

I found the room to be just fine in size..but that was only myself and 12 yr old son.

Stayed in only a King bed room at WL, but would recommend the cabins for 3Mouseketeers. The cabin has a full kitchen (even dishwasher and microwave) and you'll be able to enjoy the living room area and TV once the kids are asleep. There's also the outside deck area. Children seem to always love the petting zoo and the playground near the marina. We stayed in the 2100 loop and it was fine for us.

We stayed in 6012 and had a great view. Just high enough to see everything. Watched Wishes many nights from the balcony. I thought the room was big enough, but it was only me and DS. This is my favorite, but it is not the favorite of my purse strings. We will have to wait for a short trip to stay there again. :sad1:

Yes, we had bunk beds. It did seem to make the room open up a bit imo. I thought the room size was fine, but this is coming from someone who has had 3 adults and a child in a pack-n-play at ASMo. We ate breakfast at Whispering Canyon twice, it is so much fun! Also had take out from Roaring Forks one night, it's about the same as counter service in the parks.
Starz723: I saw you in the gift shop on our last day! We were there buying some last minute things and I heard you tell the cm your room #. Did you run into any more DISers while you were there? I didn't see anyone that I could identify as a DISer, although lots of people were wearing lime green. I was too shy to ask them, it seems like a popular color this year!

We were in room 6026 last week and had a wonderful view. DD and I fell in love with the Wilderness Lodge.

Thanks for the post
WE are going in January and will be our first stay at the WL. Almost moved us 2 days ago to teh Poly but everybody seems to love the lodge so we are sticking to the original plans.

I will have a few lime green mickeys displayed when I go and maybe a new DISers tee shirt as well.

Holler if you see me , balding on top and built somewhere between pooh and Brer bear........... :D

We are at VWL now and were just wondering the reference is?

PS, glad you loved WL, and maybe we will be 'Welcome Home'-ing you soon!

I am so glad you have a good time there. Our first stay prompted us to buy into DVC as well.

I think a LOT of us rub Humphreys nose. When we were there last time they had it roped off because they had to repaint it.

I know each and every time we pass by him we rub his nose for luck. :)

Having stayed at the WL and had several room types, I would recommend the bunks as well. We only have two Children but the bunks we great. To gain a little more room we pushed the bunks up against the wall and it opened up the room alot. If you can afford it, the Junior Suites are the best (I don't think they are called that any more)but there is a living room area with doors to the bedroom. It was really nice having the extra room.

Just became a DISer--can't WAIT to go to the WL this Jan 9-12! We have requested bunk beds--my daughter, who will turn 8 the week before our trip, will flip if there are bunks in a hotel room! :Pinkbounc Glad to hear that everyone has had such a good time at WL!

We bought into the Vacation Club prior to our trip to the WL. The whole facility really made us feel good about our choice and we have never had second thoughts since.

The WL was the first place we stayed with our son. He was 4 months old at the time and it was a great experience that I will never forget. I hope all of your future trips are as enjoyable as this recent one. Have a great holiday season.
