Just got back from a 2-bedroom at VWL. Room location was absolutely fantastic (1st floor rooms 1508 & 1506 -- couldn't get any closer to main lodge if I tried). Super close to bus stop and a short walk to watch the water pageant. Crowds at the parks were not too bad either.

We were scheduled to check out on Fri 11/9 and fly back to NJ on a 1pm Southwest flight. At 4am, DD7 woke up vomiting and, I'm not kidding, did not stop until 5pm. Needless to say things were very hectic. There was no way I could put that poor kid on a plane in that condition. I drove the rest of our party (my sis & her family and my DM) to the airport so that they could at least make the flight. VWL housekeeping was fantastic about bringing us new sheets and more towels and extended out checkout until 1pm. By 1pm, she was still vomiting and begging to go to a doctor. Southwest couldn't put us on a later flight and had no available flights on Saturday or Sunday.

Our only option at this point was to drive our rental car back to NJ. However, DD7 was still in no condition to leave. Sarita at the front desk was absolutely wonderful in helping us. There were no available studios in the villas, so she charged us points for a villa studio, but moved us to the Concierge level! What a godsend!

The staff up there were so great about getting us ginger ale and bananas and whatever else we needed. They gave us info on the Florida Medical Centra-Care walk-in facility which is where she was diagnosed with strep throat. After getting back several hours later, it was so nice to be able to grab a quick bite to eat. None of us had eaten all day so some soup and a hot meal were awesome.

Can't say enough good things about VWL and all of their staff!

BTW, now we are completely spoiled and want to stay concierge every time!

glad you still love VWL - but hate to heard about your kid getting sick. that is probably a parent's worst nightmare.

glad that Disney was on the ball and came up with a great solution to your and her problems.

Oh!!!:grouphug:

But the best thing that I get from your post is how great and caring the staff was to you and your DD!

Sorry your little one got sick. But glad to hear that the lodge took such great care of you. I've always had great experiences with everyone at VWL and WL. :)

Regarding the WL, it reminds me of my son who got very sick in 1996 with Ulcerative colitis 3 months before our Christmas vacation. We tried for 2 rooms to help him out with all the washroom visits etc but since it was Christmas time, they were not available. Thank God that his condition improved and that we could still go, but I will never forget their concern for him. When they found out that we had an early flight from Toronto and would arrive at 9:30 in the morning, they made sure that our room was available when we arrived. This continued for the next four Christmas vacations. I think the hotel reps name was Jude Griebel.

tgropp, I'm glad to hear you had a good experience too!

BTW, I faxed a thank you letter to the hotel yesterday naming the CM's I could remember.

Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter getting sick. It's a bit scary when some one gets sick and your far from home, even if it is Disney. Hope she's felling better. Glad you enjoyed the lodge and that the cm's were helpful. I've always thought they were great.

I am so sorry your DD came down with strep throat!:sad2: Thank goodness they took care of you guys. When my daughter came down with rotovirus last year, the staff at SSR was wonderful as well. Fortunately, it was just a 24 hour thing and we were able to make our plane.
