Just back from the Yacht Club...

and I have to say, surprisingly, I was a bit disappointed :sad1: ... it seemed as if many of the CM's weren't very experienced or very fast moving ... here are a few examples:

1. We arrived at the Yacht Club at about 4:30PM on 12/10 ... it was very quiet, and therefore, our actual check-in went very quickly ... however, even though there were 4 bellhops just standing at the bell service desk in the lobby, it still took about 45 minutes for our luggage to be delivered to our room ... (and we weren't even using magical express) ...

2. After we got to our room, we called for a microwave to be delivered to our room ... we were told, "we're sorry, but our resort doesn't offer microwaves" ... hmmm, yes you do because not only is this a Deluxe resort but it also says so on the Disney website ... also, we have stayed at the Beach Club the last two years and we have always gotten a microwave upon request ... so after calling back twice and waiting 45 minutes :rolleyes1, we got a microwave ...

3. Then I go to take the bedspread off the bed and the blanket is DIRTY :sad2: ... I don't know what it was, but whatever it was was dried on and looked gross  ... so we called housekeeping ... it took another 45 minutes for someone to come and change the bed ...

4. Then I look in the bathroom ... well, the double sink vanity is in the actual bathroom with the shower & toilet ... hmmm, usually the double sink vanity is in the dressing area outside the shower ... did we get the wrong room, I wondered? :confused3 ... we were supposed to get a Waterview room, which it was, but it did appear to be a bit smaller all around ... so we called down again just to make sure we got the room we paid for and stated our concerns and were told, "oh no, all the rooms here at the Yacht Club have the double sinks in with the actual shower .. the sinks are never in a dressing area" ... again, I was like, I don't think so  , but since we never stayed here before I guess they knew what they were talking about ... so I let it go, for now ...

5. During the same time that all of the above was going on, I also found out that there was a problem with one of my ADR's ... long story short, it had mysteriously been canceled by someone other than me :scared: ... so after about an hour on the phone with WDW Dining and supervisors and the actual restaurant, I finally get everything corrected :faint: ...

6. By this time, we're exhausted but it was time for dinner, so we made our way to Le Cellier ... it was scrumptious, by the way :goodvibes ...

7. After we returned to our room after dinner, I was still wondering about what we were told about the sinks ... I knew I was correct and it was just bugging me ... so I looked on our laptop (which I neglected before to say that it took about 45 minutes to get an internet cable for it since there wasn't one already in the room :sad2:, but I digress) ... and I checked some websites and confirmed that I was correct ... so we decided to call down again to make sure we got the right room and this time were told by a manager, "I didn't even know we had a room where the sinks were in with the shower and not in the dressing area" .... well, on one hand it was a relief to get validation that I wasn't crazy , but on the other hand, I was like, ok, then where did this room come from and are we getting what we paid for? ... so the manager did offer to check to see if she could change us to another room that was what we were used to, but there was no guarantee it would still be a Waterview room, so we decided to just stay put at this point ...

So, I know some may say I am a bit picky with things, but when I'm staying at a "Deluxe" resort and paying "Deluxe" prices, I expect good service, including clean linens and a staff who knows the correct answers to questions and requests asked the first time ... I really didn't appreciate many of CM's giving convincingly wrong answers ...

Oh and a couple last things, one afternoon we decided to get a quick late lunch at Hurricane Hanna Grill's by the pool and even though we were the only customers there, it took forever and all we wanted were pre-made turkey sandwiches :scratchin ... and then one morning, we decided to sleep in for a bit and didn't leave our room until about 10:30AM and as we were making our way down the hallway, a mousekeeper says to us "are you from room #xxxx", and we said "yes", and she goes, "well are you ready yet?" ... and we were like, "yeah" ... I had to hold my laughter until we got down the hall :rotfl: ... it was like we were getting reprimanded for leaving our room later than she wanted us to :upsidedow ... and then I went to use my snack dining credits in the gift shop in the lobby and the CM goes "we don't accept the dining plan here" ... ummm, yes you do ... just unbelievable, I must say  ...

Oh well, despite everything, all in all we had a good trip and the weather was great :) ... and now that we're home we can just think back, shake our heads and have a few good laughs  ...

Wow, Sorry to hear all of your disappointments about the YC. We were just there in June and we did not experience any of those things. I do understand and yes, you do have the right to be picky. Our double sinks were in the dressing area. We connected to the internet right way and yes you can use your snack credits in the gift shop down stairs. I understand mousekeepers have a schedule to keep but give me a break already. If you wanted to sleep in that's your prerogative. I mean after all it is your vacation. Well, it's good to try new things but sometimes the old standbys are the best. Despite all that took place, I am glad that you had a good time.

Sorry to hear of your disappointments. We had a wonderful two weeks stay there in October, we were upgraded to concierge and had the most wonderful stay. Our double sinks were in the dressing area and not with the shower. Did you fill the questionnaire in on your last morning to let them know of your disappointment. I sent a thank you card when we returned back home here in the UK and someone rang us back to thank us so they do listen to visitor comments.

OP, I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay. Other than the dirty linens, I really don't see much to complain about.

I have stayed at the YC many times and the double sink vanity is, in fact, usually outside the bathroom. One time, however, we got a handicap accessible room and in that room, the double sink vanity was inside the bathroom. I am surprised no one from the staff knew to explain that difference to you (and even more surprised that any staff member told you otherwise).

Well, I think I have to respectfully disagree ... being that the Yacht Club is a "Deluxe" resort that charges "Deluxe" prices, I don't think that it is asking too much or wrong of me to expect better service or a more knowledgeable staff than what we received ... it's pretty sad when the guest seems to know more than the actual employees ... I also think it was quite rude of the housekeeper to reprimand us for leaving our room at 10:30AM instead of what was good for her ... who was paying for the room? ... and to add insult to injury, we were even leaving housekeeping daily tips ...

Oh and did I mention that the night housekeeper who changed the dirty linens told us that the day housekeepers don't always change the linens like they are supposed to? ... that was a real comforting bit of information she shared with us :sad2: ...

I am happy for you all that have had great experiences with the Yacht Club ... maybe we just unfortunately went during a bad week or something ... but thanx to all who understand where I am coming from ...

A microwave? Where do you see on the Disney site that microwaves are offered at the YC?
Here's a quote from that site on room ammenities ~

Irons, ironing boards, hair dryers and make-up mirrors in each room
In-room coffee makers and refrigerators available at no charge

Just wondering?
:confused3

I'm so sorry about your trip - I'm glad you were able to enjoy yourself anyway. I agree with you whole-heartedly. You're paying deluxe prices and you should expect cleanliness, knowledgeable CM's and a bit more promptness to your requests. I guess it was a bad week. We frequent the YC/BC and we've never had an issue EVER. But, we had some ssues at WL. I think it can happen at any of the resorts unfortunately. I hope it doesn't completely spoil your appetite for staying there again, but if it does I understand. We think WL is beautiful and we love to visit, but I'm afraid to stay there again.

Thanx PamNC :goodvibes ... even though, as of now, I'm feeling a bit reluctant from staying at the YC again, I may change my mind in the future and give it a second chance ... we just love staying in the Epcot resort area ... we had stayed at the BC the last two years and never had any problems ... this year, we just decided to change it up a bit ... oh well, maybe the staff was just taking it easy last week and off their game a little bit knowing that these next two weeks are probably going to be crazy for them and they will need to be on their toes 24/7 ... :)

I'm leaving in 30 days for YC. Staying in concierge. On this board and another board, I keep reading mixed reviews. We chose this resort for the least amount of children, and it was on one of the magazine list of 50 best hotels in the U.S.
I really hope it is worth all the dough, and we are not disappointed.

We stayed at the YC concierge in June and had a Jr. Suite which was very spacious for the 3 of us. It overlooked SAB. We had a great time and we'll be returning there in 2010. Don't mean to be a damper but as far as the least amount of children, I have to disagree. Maybe it was the summer crowd and it was our first time there but there were plenty of children including my DS11. It's most likely due to the fabulous pool. You are going during the winter time and most children are in school. I still think you will enjoy the hotel. Have a great trip.

Sorry about the items you experienced. We were there in Oct and had the best experience ever...cannot wait to go back! The Mousekeepers noticed that I used the H2O products every day so they left me a TON of them with a little note...very nice of them! The only negative thing was the bed, it felt like I was sleeping on a bed of rocks.

CMHand you'll have to let us know how it works out with the Yacht Club and the amount of kids. I'm definitely interested. DH and I stayed at BC in May and it was loaded with kids and wished we had stayed at the YC instead since it seemed like more of an adult hotel. Have fun on your trip. :goodvibes

I completly understand your dissapointment. Though I am wondering if the Mousekeeper was more just asking you if you guys were done so she could go in and clean. I know when I was there with my niece and nephew, sometimes I would leave but my niece and nephew remained. Maybe they were just asking if it was safe for them to go into the room. Just did not ask the right way.

I Have never stayed at the Yacht club or the Beach club for that matter. Someday I would like to. How do you like the Beach club?

For deluxe prices, I think you deserve deluxe service. Period. I'm sorry you went though all of that and you should definately let Disney know of your disappointment - and be specific, like you were here.

I'm glad you didn't let any of it put a damper on your trip.

We just came back from the YC yesterday and were a bit disappointed as well. No where to the level of the original poster, but the whole place seemed a bit shabbier. We were in room 2074 and there were lights out, a sprinkler collar in the bathroom hanging down, edges of the wallpaper starting to peel, nicks and paint missing on the door frames. Nothing major... just starting to look shabby. There was also a stair tower near us that was filthy and had lights out as well for the entire 8 days we were there. Then to top it off, right outside that entrance was a handrail that was broken and it caught my shorts and tore them.... Now they were older shorts and were ready to be retired... but this just helped our disappointment along.

Now for all of that, we love the YC and have stayed there many times. It does appear that the rooms are getting near the end of their refresh cycle so it wouldn't surprise me if they are schedule to be renovated soon.

The housekeeper was probably not reprimanding you. She knew you were in the room and did not want to disturb you. She probably just meant to see if you were leaving the room for the day. Some folks complain because the housekeeper comes too late so they really can't win.

Dirty linens are never acceptable. I would complain about that, as well. The sinks? I could live with the sink in the shower, but I can see how you would be disappointed because you were expecting something else. If I were on that Dining Plan, I would be taking the rules with me EVERYWHERE. Seems like so many people get grief from CMs who are not familiar with it.

I totally understand what you are saying about the housekeeper and wouldn't have minded at all if this were the case; however, the housekeeper's tone in asking us was definitely sarcastic and one of disapproval for us leaving later than she probably would have liked us to, that is what I didn't appreciate ... but we figured, maybe she was just having a hard day, so we continued to leave daily tips anyway...

yeah, the dirty linens were pretty disturbing to find  ...

What was frustrating about the sink situation was that we were given misinformation about them "NEVER being outside the shower" and being made to basically feel like I was simply crazy for ever thinking such a thing:crazy: ... I just wanted to make sure we got the right room and what we paid for ... it is a little easier to have the sinks in the dressing area, especially while getting ready in the morning, but we managed :) ... hey, maybe if the sinks were where they were supposed to be, we would have been able to leave the room earlier and on time so the housekeeper wouldn't have gotten so upset with us  ...

Our double sink was in the bathroom with shower....seemed a little cramped considering my last cruise ship had a seperate sink and dressing area.

We were on the 1st floor, and had a great view and liked being able to walk out from our sliding doors.

I wonder if it was 1st floor rooms that had the double sink in the bathroom
