We are just back from the worst trip ever to WDW. We had the misfortune of staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Our room was the absolute dirtiest room I have ever had. We spoke with management and were assured that our concerns would be addressed. They were not. We left a gratuity for the housekeeper with the hopes that it would inspire a better job. It did not. When we attempted to move, we were told by the front desk that they could not locate a standard room in any of the deluxes. Eventually we moved for the final night there. Every WDW guest is entitled to a clean room regardless of the level of the resort. This experience ruined the vacation. We found ourselves discussing the situation all the time. We cleaned the room a bit on our own. We spent so much time on the phone looking for a resolution to the situation that everyday of our stay was dominated by the problems. I know there are many people who will come to the defense of the staff at CBR but in addition to the filth we encountered, the inability or unwillingness of the staff to help us was overwhelming. I planned the trip for a friend and myself and can't help but feel responsible for the worst trip we have ever had.

I am sorry you had such a bad experience with the room and the staff at the CBR.

Can you tell me what village you were in and possibly a little more about what was dirty...I'm curious as I have stayed at CBR many times and never experienced this at all....I'd like to know where you were so I can be better educated.

We were in the Jamaica building. At the risk of being gross, the bathroom was just disgusting. The tub was dirty and hairy. The toilet had obviously not been cleaned and I will leave the details to your imagination! There were numerous dead bugs found in the room. A soiled towel from a previous guest was on the towel rack. The counter was sticky. It was just disturbing.

That is horrible. I just got back from a fantastic trip to CBR, in Aruba, but my room was clean and everyone was helpful. I don't know what happened to create your mess, but it's inexcusable! I'm sorry you had such a bad time.:sad1:

:scared: That's disgusting. There's absolutely no excuse for a room being in that condition and management failing to fully correct it immediately. I would fire off a complaint letter to someone higher up the Disney executive chain and let them know CBR is dropping the ball in customer service and basic standards.

Wow that's horrible! You are definitely justified in your feelings. :goodvibes

Hopefully management will look into the situation and resolve the obvious housekeeping issues.

We stayed at CBR in Sept in Jamaica 45 and our room was great, but I definitely would have been upset too if we had experienced the same thing.

Totally unacceptable

sorry to hear about your experience!

How many nights were you there and how many times were management notified?

There is WDW Guest Communications...I would opt for the written letter other than the email, but that is just me.

OH NO :scared1:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are staying at CBR in a couple of weeks and I requested Jamaica!! Hopefully the mousekeeping sprinkles a little of this...pixiedust: and our room is in tip top shape! Too bad you had to deal with that! I know of so many who stay at CBR and they never had a problem!

Thank you for all of the kind words. Management was contacted 4 times. We moved to another resort during the 4th exchange. I have written a letter to WDW guest communications. At this point an apology won't do us much good but my hope is that another guest will not encounter the problems we did. I think I am most frustrated by the lack of action on the part of the CBR. WDW is an expensive venture. I planned every last detail but this was completely beyond our control. I find it hard to believe they couldn't locate a standard room in a deluxe in January. I offered to pay the difference but was told the only thing they could find was a room at AKL with one queen and bunk beds. My friend offered to take the bunk bed but it just seemed like one more issue. I have been to WDW many many times but for my friend this was the first trip in 20 years also celebrating a birthday. I feel so responsible as the planner but regardless of our efforts to correct the situation nothing changed. To some extent perhaps I had too much faith in the cast members because I continued to believe that someone would make things right for us as long as we were reasonable and polite.

I had a gross room at POR this past trip. We just cleaned it ourselves and went about our business. Now that I look back, I wished I had complained. We had a dirty tub and toilet. We felt dirty when we were in the room.

Sorry it ruined your trip. :(

Rav, I feel your disappointment....and please dont feel badly because you were the planner.....by all means, you didnt plan for a room in disorder at a resort!

I saw your other post...glad to see you enjoyed your stay at the other resort...we love it there too:)

Hope you receive some kind of response from your letter.

That is really unacceptable. :scared1: I'm so sorry, and I hope you are contacted by management. Please let us know if you hear anything.

Thats horrible customer service! During our last stay at CSR we were booked into a very dirty room. The bathtub was full of sand, wet towels were on the floor, dirty toilet.....you get the picture. Not a great sight when first entering your vacation room. I called right away and told the front desk what happened and was told they would send someone to clean right away. We waited an hour and no one came so I called again and asked for the manager. The manager immediately moved us to a clean room and refunded us for our first night stay. Our next trip we wanted to try CBR, but now we may reconsider!

OH MY GOSH! This happened to me at the Poly. I transferred rooms and guess what, it was only half as bad. I had a rental car and went to walmart and cleaned the room myself. I am not a freaky clean person. I have a two year old, so you can imagine the grime in my house from him alone. I spoke to management three times and all they did was get me turn down service. Like I needed turn down service, I just wanted a clean room. It has forever put a bad taste in my mouth for them. I have a hard time justifying staying in a deluxe now, for fear I will have to do my own cleaning. I know how this can ruin a vacation if you are a planner because at the very least, you expect a clean well functioning room. Right now I am in between picking resorts for this September due to not wanting to pay more, and not getting too much less. CBR was my next choice, but I guess I'll go back to Pop. At least they were clean!

If misery does indeed love company, then I'll let you know that we, too had a VERY dirty room at CBR for one night (too many) in 2008.

We decided to drive straight through and stay at CBR one night before our 8-night stay at the CR. We had driven about 14 hours (had been up since 3:30AM) and arrived (exhausted) at around 7:30PM.

We got to our room and it was the filthiest hotel room I have probably ever stayed in. We only paid $100 with tax (had a -40% off pin) and were only staying one night, but that was defintely $100 too much and one night too many.

We found rubber bands for braces strewn all over the room, our bathroom was like yours, the carpet was filthy, the bed was sagging in the middle, all surfaces were dusty and dirty, well, you get the point - it was NOT clean. We were very tired, needed to eat and just get to sleep so we endured the one night after I cleaned-up as much as I could stomach.

We got up very early the next day (I couldn't sleep all night) and drove over to the CR as fast as we could.

Suffice it to say, we would NEVER stay at CBR again, even for one night or for free. That's a memory that sticks with you forever.

I'm sorry that you had to endure more than one night and that you wasted yours and your friends' money on such a dreadful experience. It certainly wasn't your fault.

I've always wished that WDW had consistent, across the board (high) standards for housekeeping. It's a shame that it's acceptable, at any WDW resort, to have sub-standard levels of cleanliness. We had a similar experience at the Poly in 2007, but were able to transfer after 3 nights to the CR and salvage our trip. Even the rooms that seem fairly clean aren't very clean when you really scrutinize it:magnify:

I am sorry you had such a bad experience!

I have to say...I stayed @ CBR in 2002...and I would not stay there again. The bathroom was not the cleanest in my room either. The faucet did not work well either.

:( I am so sorry to hear no one was of help to you either! That is so not cool and does not sound very Disney like!

I stayed at the AKL in Dec, and our housekeeper left black hairs all over the bed and bathroom everyday so gross. Everyday we had to go around with tissues collected her hair. and There was dust everywhere too

GROSS!

We stayed one night at POFQ in December, before moving to another resort, and when I pulled back the comforter...(always take them off) there were 2 long black strands of hair on the blanket underneath!:scared1:

I called housekeeping...2 wonderful CM's came..stripped down BOTH beds...received all new bedding and brand new comforters.

I didnt contact management cause they resolved the issue..they were as nice as could be...and couldnt believe my DD3.5 said thank you and hugged them goodbye! lol

Room was clean other than that!

I am so sorry you had a bad trip. There is no excuse for the room to be in such a bad condition. You should definitely write a letter to disney to make them aware of the problem, so they can make sure this doesn't happen again.
