My family and I stayed at POR from 8/25 to 9/1. We were in Alligator Bayou building 34. We were close to the West side transportation. The walk to the food court was a hike but knowing that we were closer to transporation was more of a plus for us.

As for the room. The decor was wonderful. The downside was the bathroom. I didn't like that the toliet, sink and tub were all in one area. It made it harder for our family to get ready in the mornings. Some of the other resorts we have stayed at the toliet is separate from the sink. Housekeeping was great. We got a cute towel bunny.

We ate a few times at the food court for either breakfast, lunch and dinner. At all times the food was good as well as the service.

My DS and DH used the main pool once and the pool by our building just one time each.

My DH and I did the horse carriage ride and we thoroughly enjoyed that.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at POR just as much as we did 7 years ago. I would highly recommend it.

Glad you had a great time. Our family also enjoyed the carriage ride on our last trip:) We have not stayed in AB since the remodel and I thought the layout of the AB and mansion rooms were alike? I know in the mansions the tub and toilet are in their own room and the double sinks(which we love) are outside of it. I thought all of value and Mods are setup this way.

I wish the sink would have been on the outside. it would have made getting ready a bit easier. All in all it worked out because at home all 4 of us share a bathroom so we we are use to making it work.

Sounds like you had an amazing time!

Is the sink in the bathroom in the AB buildings? I thought the vanity area was outside the bathroom in all the moderate resorts. We haven't stayed at POR, only POFQ. My DD loves the POR main pool though (waterslide appeal lol)

How much is the carriage ride now? We were meant to do one last year with friends but I ended up getting really sick on vacation and it just never happened so it's been banked as a must do for next trip.

I wonder if you got a handicap accessible room? Because the POR website's AB page (http://www.portorleans.org/alligator-bayou.php) shows that the vanity should have been separate from the toilet/tub area.

Was there a murphy bed? That would help to indicate if it was a HA room, because if it did NOT then it's a HA room.

I know it seems to be picky to wonder about these things, but according to everything I've read you should have had a separate vanity area, so it doesn't seem you got a typical room! (and it would be good to solve the mystery for your future trips if that's a sticking point for you)

No murphy bed and it couldn't have been HA because we were on 2nd floor. The bathroom area had a door and in it left to right were tub/shower, double sink and then toliet. No other doors or curtains for privacy just one big bathroom.

In our room that we had the bathroom was one large room that was behind a closed door and it had the tub/shower, double sink and toliet. In all other mods we have stayed at the vanity was/is on the outside of the bathroom.

As for the carriage ride, it was $45 for about 25 minutes or so. We took the route of the french quarter. The other route was the AB and since we were already staying there and saw it, french quarter was a better pick. Nice ride and intresting conversation with driver.

We were in AB this past may and the double sinks were outside the bathroom. We were in building 15. I am thinking you must of had some kind of modified room if not HA.

I just stayed in Alligator Bayou and the bathroom was toilet and tub/shower with a closing door - double sinks were outside and had a large shower curtain/drape to close it off from the bedroom. Very handy getting ready with two teenage girls!!!! We were in AB14 and had a 30 second walk to food court and a 1 minute walk to transportation. Also, had a murphy bed, but it was for the little ones, our petite 13 year old girl didn't like the size of it.

We've stayed at POR many times and our room has always been as described above.

We are staying here in April and I always thought the sinks were in the vanity area separate from the shower and toilet? Anyway, we are going to do the carriage ride too, we are excited about that :thumbsup2

That's odd. I've stayed in the AB section about 5 times and the sinks were always outside of the toilet/tub area.

Thank you so much for posting your review. Quick question for you about the Carraige ride. Did you book that when you got there or did you reserve it before your trip? I read that you can fit more then two people, but I havent read of any families doing this together just couples. Wondering if you think more can fit besides two?

TIA! :goodvibes

We did it as a family of 4 last August. We booked about 2 weeks before our trip.

We booked our carriage ride when we checked in for same night. They gave us a choice of around POR or POFQ so since we were stating at POR we chose to go down to POFQ. Lori was our guide & she was amazing.

Just noticed you gave the building. Was it room 3448? That shows on portorleans.org as having accessible *features*.

I feel silly for continuing with wondering, but I'm super-curious. :goodvibes

And, frankly, we're a month out from our trip and I want to know all I can! :flower3:

Thanks for the review! We're checking into POR in a couple of weeks in a royal room, we are excited!

We stayed at POR in April and our room was exactly the same set up

Booked carriage ride the evening I wanted it. The carriages were out and I just went up to ask if there was anything after 8:30. We wanted to do late evening. We did 9:00. It can fit up to about 4 adults comfortable.

Any chance you took a picture of the room that shows this? Can you post it?
