Just back from the Riverside

Just noticed you gave the building. Was it room 3448? That shows on portorleans.org as having accessible *features*.

I feel silly for continuing with wondering, but I'm super-curious. :goodvibes

And, frankly, we're a month out from our trip and I want to know all I can! :flower3:

Okay you are freaking me out because that was our room number.

My family and I stayed at POR from 8/25 to 9/1. We were in Alligator Bayou building 34. We were close to the West side transportation. The walk to the food court was a hike but knowing that we were closer to transporation was more of a plus for us.

As for the room. The decor was wonderful. The downside was the bathroom. I didn't like that the toliet, sink and tub were all in one area. It made it harder for our family to get ready in the mornings. Some of the other resorts we have stayed at the toliet is separate from the sink. Housekeeping was great. We got a cute towel bunny.

We ate a few times at the food court for either breakfast, lunch and dinner. At all times the food was good as well as the service.

My DS and DH used the main pool once and the pool by our building just one time each.

My DH and I did the horse carriage ride and we thoroughly enjoyed that.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at POR just as much as we did 7 years ago. I would highly recommend it.

We were there from 8/21 to 8/28 and stayed in one of the royal rooms at Pattrice(sp?) place. We enjoyed the hotel. Our toilet and shower were separate from the double sinks. The sinks were an extension of the room with a curtain to close and the others were to the left. I thought they were all that way.

We used both the main pool and the quiet pool next to us. Used the quiet pool more since it was a lot closer. There were never more than 10 people or so in the pool. I think we used it at least an hour or two each day.

I agree that the food is good and the CM's were all very eager to help and excellent. We stayed at POFQ before and actually prefer that food court. They have a few different things we prefer and we like the decorating a little better, but no complaints about the POR.

DD had her hair wrapped. It is expensive, but lasts several months and she is happy so worth it. We did the carriage ride a few years ago and agree it is a nice ride. We also rented a boat and drove down to DTD. It was fun going up and down the rivers.

The only negative is that we paid to fish at the fishin' hole and I am pretty sure the fish have been caught so many times, they can tell when the worm is on or the hook or off. We fished and never even saw a fish. If we threw a worm in not on a hook, you could see the fish come up and eat it. It would be OK if it were free, but it was $18 for the kids to fish and not even a bite in 20 minutes. I would not recommend the fishing.

All in all a great trip for us as well. Glad you had a great vacation

Thank you so much for posting your review. Quick question for you about the Carraige ride. Did you book that when you got there or did you reserve it before your trip? I read that you can fit more then two people, but I havent read of any families doing this together just couples. Wondering if you think more can fit besides two?

TIA! :goodvibes

We did it as a family of 4 as well. We booked it about a week before our arrival when we did it. They will accept walk ups if there is no reservation at the time, but I recommend reserving if you don't want to miss out.

Thanks for the review! We're checking into POR in a couple of weeks in a royal room, we are excited!

The royal rooms are fun. DD loved the decorations and theming. I won't spoil it by describing the room. Hope you have as good a time as we did. The beds are very comfortable, more so than any other I have stayed in WDW.

When we stayed there years ago my boys fished and caught nothing, yet we could see them too. My DS wanted to do it again but was hesistant because of the last time with no bites. The way trip went this time we were up and out in the morning at the parks.

Sounds like you all had a nice time too. Too bad we are back to "reality". LOL!

If you look at the por site and look in building 34, that's the room with accessible *features*. It's the only one in that building on room 2. So it was a version of an HA room, which is why it had that bathroom. All/most other rooms at POR have the separate vanity area.

Hi fellow POR visitor last week! You might be one of the great families we met from Michigan! Loved that we enjoyed cooler weather in Florida than in Midwest. Hah! We're not crazy to go to Florida in August:)

Glad to hear your trip was a success overall. We were in the mansions and when we did the horse drawn carriage the driver took us through Alligator Bayou. We want to try them next. And we also had a fun time during the ride, the driver was very entertaining.

We knew going into it that there would be some walking when we chose this resort but we are big time hikers/walkers so even after a full day at the parks it was no problem for us.

We also had great housekeeping and towel animals each day (but not having them is NOT a deal breaker for us).

When we were there we woke up to two mornings in the mid 30s. The pool and poolside bar was closed for those two days. But we are not big time into swimming so it was no big deal.
