Just got home last night from our first stay at the Poly. Try to be brief but it's hard!! Arrived on a Friday morning about 11. Room was not ready & they put us in Tahiti which I asked for but then really didn't want. The CM looked & looked & there wasn't anything else except a room without a balcony which wasn't an option for us. David the manager that day overheard us with the CM & offered to move us on Sat. am to the exact room location we wanted. Maybe it didn't hurt that he was from a town only two towns away from where we live. Either way, he took care of it with a smile. All the CMs these last 5 days were great with plenty of smiles & alohas. Our first room was 2044 in Tahiti, which while it was nice, I just wasn't feeling it that far away from everything. DH & I love to walk the grounds wherever we stay, but I just felt like I needed to be more near the action. The room itself was fine-clean & very spacious, 2 sinks...The slider to the balcony was HEAVY-even for DH. Okay on to the best part of my stay. My NEW room. Sat afternoon we went back to the front desk, & David (our guy!) told me that our room in Fiji was ready. Room 3307. Third floor facing luau cove. I can't tell you how happy I was. It was perfect for us & totally made my whole stay. Yes, the room is smaller than Tahiti with only one sink-I could care less. The room was very clean & smelled great. Housekeeping was great all week & for those of you who care, yes 3 towel animals. I will post plenty of pics once I get settled in.
As far as the rest of the resort, the grounds were beautiful & very clean. Not many lovebugs at all, but alot of crows hanging around the Hawaii building.?? Pools weren't crowded at all & we always found a chair. We ate at Kona & Ohanas-great, friendly service at both. Great seat at Ohanas too -right in front of the castle. Didn't use Captain Cooks but it did seem busy. Loved walking to Grand Floridian on the path & of course you can't beat the monorail to MK.
So overall thoughts-a great stay. It took us a little while to feel like it was our resort, but I think that was due to a later check in the first day, followed by a room change the next. I would definately do it that way again. Just loved that room! We are booked for POR for May 08, but I was already looking at prices to change back to the Poly!! Don't get me wrong, this won't be the only place we stay now. It's ALOT of money for what you get, it's not a luxury resort. I think for us we will only stay there with a code. I don't think it's worth almost $400 a night. But that being said, we really liked it & will return. Any questions, feel free & the pics will be coming soon!! Okay this wasn't brief!! Had to give all the info I could
