Oh wow, what a vacation.
First, the room. Since we were French Quarter refugees paying a really low rate, I felt certain we'd be getting a "construction view" room by the ice maker. Still, I faxed a request for something with a patio or balcony near the feature pool. We're from Iowa, so I made a few one liners about corn and hogs. We wound up in Samoa, room 1607--just a few steps from the Volcano Pool! It was so great.
Dh loved all the space in the room and the big bathroom. My only complaint would have to be the possessed exhaust fan in the bathroom. It would turn itself on when you walked in (motion detector, I suspect), but instead of running for a short while and then quietly shutting itself off, it would kick into high gear--sounded like somebody starting an outboard motor in there. So, usually right as one was drifting off to sleep . . . VROOOM!!! I called maintenence, but it probably wouldn't act up for them because it was still doing it our final night. Oh well, it adds a little humor to the trip. We told the kids one of the ghosts must have escaped from the Haunted Mansion.
The transportation was great. Can't beat the monorail and being able to walk to the TTC was terrific. I was nervous about the bus service because I'd been reading here that it was slow, but we never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus.
All in all, it was a fabulous stay. Dh is deluxe convert, and of course, the kids want to stay at the Poly again.
