We drove to Disney from lower weschester county, New York.
We left on Friday, July 2, at 2:30. We hit a little traffic in southern Jersey and Delaware. We stopped in maryland for a quick bite to eat and drove straight through, only stopping for gas.

We arrived at the Polynesian at 8:45 am. We were doubtful that our room was ready. We requested a non smoking room in Tahiti, 3rd floor, balcony. I debated for months on which would be better, balcony or patio, I still wasn't sure. Well, much to our surprise, our room was ready (thank goodness) and we got a first floor room in Tahiti - room 1037 to be exact. We went to the room and freshened up and then went to Captain Cooks for breakfast.

We then went back to our room and unpacked. I tried to get my girls to nap but they were too excited. My DH and DS fell asleep so I put the girls' bathing suits on and took them outside to the beach. I could definitely see the convenience of having a first floor room with kids. They played in the sand while I sat and watched them from the hammock (which was right outside our room). They put thier feet in the water and before I knew it, a "police" boat pulled up warning me that there is a steep drop and to make sure that they didn't go in much further. After about an hour and a half I could no longer stand the heat so we went inside and I gave the girls a bath/shower. By then everyone was awake and we all got ready to go the Magic Kingdom for the very first time!!!!

We took the ferry to MK and as soon as we gave our tickets for the park, the skies opened up and it poured. I wasn't too upset b/c I know that it pretty much rains every day, and hoping that it was a quick shower. I put on the kids ponchos and we waited under a covering...and we waited...and waited... Finally it slows down a bit - enough for us to walk through the park. We go get something to eat (counter service) hoping that it would stop by the time we were done. Well, it didn't. We attempted to walk through the park, but it was too much with the kids, and we were all tired. So we took the ferry back and all went to bed early. Tomorrow is another day....

Your report started off so upbeat...I hope the rain didn't go on for your entire trip and ruin it:( Your kids must've been in ecstasy being at WDW for the first time:earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy: I hope you had a wonderful trip...can't wait to read about your second dayprincess:

I was thinking the same thing - great start and then the rain uhhhnooo! I hope day two was better weather for you all. Can't wait to hear more!::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Hope day 2 is a little better. Sounds like you got a great location for a room. We usually go in aug. but after all the rain last aug. we went in april this year. We will go next april too when its metro ny/nj spring break. Might want to think that time frame next time. Definetely lots less rain and not so hot. But the Poly is our favorite too. Hope the Poly made a believer out of you.
