Just got back from WDW this past weekend! ?I've been writing a trip report (see link at bottom of profile) but thought I'd post here as well.

Stayed 8 days at the world with two rooms, one at the Poly Concierge and one at the WL.

Initial reaction: WL was amazing...never stayed here before but visited several times. Love the new rooms and just fell head over heels in love with the lodge.

Unfortunatley, our 4th time staying at the Poly may be my last..I was absoloutely disgusted with the service and quality of the room. We've stayed here 3 straight years before and never had such problems. Had problems and it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to pay attention to our concerns. Details in trip report...but we can talk about it here too if you like,

Any questions?

Cheers,
Josh

I stayed at Poly concierge too, and that was to be my last time there as well. I also had a hard time getting any help from the concierge. Most people love it, I was not one of them. Glad you enjoyed WL though.

Yeah. They've always treated us very well, called us by name, helped with reservations, always had time to talk and just really tried to make you feel special.

But this time, we had some MAJOR problems with our room (broken and dirty toilet, and the worst A/C problem ever...) and everytime I asked for help it was as if I was a huge pain. Like I was nothing but a bother.

I've written a 4 page long email to wdw guest communications and hope that they contact me. It was easily the WORST Disney experience I've had to date. My aunt, sister and fiancee were the ones actually staying at the Poly, but I was on the ressie as well. Luckily, my cousin and I stayed at the WL and had a great time.

Cheers
Josh

We stayed Poly concierge a few times also and decided enough was enough. Sorry you experienced some of what we did on our tries there.:guilty: We had some apathetic CMs at the desks and in the lounge, rude guests in the lounge, broken things (when we checked in - in August, our AC was dead....the chocolate postcard was a melted glob on the bed, LOL)

I am always surprised by the differing experiences DISers have - even w/in days of eachother. There were a couple "FABULOUS Poly concierge stay" posts lately and they almost convinced me to give it ANOTHER try, haha!!

I have never had a good Poly concierge experience. :confused3 I like the resort & that atmosphere, but probably won't stay concierge if we give it another go.

Lives4Disney :)

We weren't too thrilled with the service at the Polynesian either. You pay way too much to stay at what WDW says is a "Deluxe" resort on the monorail line, but get lousy service. However, when staying at the Wilderness Lodge, you pay much less, but you get extremely good service and nicer rooms IMO. :)

Feel like I'm butting in here, but...was it the resort & service on a whole that you weren't happy with or was is more of a problem with conceirge? We will be staying at the Poly for the first time in Sept & you have me a little worried that I'm wasting my money!! We aren't staying conceirge, hence the question! Any other details-tried to find your trip report & couldn't so here I am with the questions. Sorry your stay was a bummer.:sad1:

Not butting in at all.

Our big problems were -- mostly with the service in general. Our AC was broken on arrival, our toilet didn't flush right (took 2-3 flushes to empty the toilet and it was dirty with a dried yellow stain on the back, as if some ambitious fellow and missed his mark) I asked to have it fixed on multiple occasions and it was like pulling teeth to get help both on these matters...both from the concierge and the front desk. Certainly not worth the money.

It ruined the trip for my aunt, who tends to enjoy relaxing at the resort more than the parks.

Hope that helps...oh and my Trip report should be the link in my signature "The Last Hurrah"

Cheers,
Josh

In my case it was the service, I liked the resort enough. I have allergies to food and for months before my trip thought I had it arranged with the Chef's at the Polynesian. When I arrived, everyone sort of knew but... I had a hard time with the Chef, I did not know what I could get or he could make me and he did not offer any help. He more or less told me to let him know if I was going to be there because if he made something and I wasn't there it would be a waste. OK, I could understand I didn't want to waste food, but it was the way it was said. Then I got to thinking about it and what happens to the left over food from the offerings? Do they save it or dump it? Isn't that a waste? Why would the little bit of food I would have matter that much. I could put it in my refridgerator and it later. So with hurt feelings, and feeling I was totally left out I went to the concierge desks. I told them my story (it is much more than I am describing) and asked them to help. They told me I would have to talk to the Chef:sad2: I had already done this, I finaly gave up and only had lemonade and coke through my 8 day stay. I did finally get to talk to another Chef, and she was wonderful and quite helpful. Unfortunately, it was on our last day. We also had a safe that was not working. I don't know who's fault it is, but they came about 10:30 pm to fix it and we had put the do not disturb sign out. It was our first day there and we were tired. The next day we went to the concierge desk again and asked about the safe. They told us they sent someone the previous night and would have to get someone up again and they didn't know what time they could get there to fix it. We ended up carrying all our money with us through the parks. I take about $2000.00 for food and such. It was a little nerve racking. I think it was the lack of concern or helpfulness from the CM's. I am not hard to please, but this was the worst concierge I have been too. We had our room flood at the Boardwalk once and the concierge CM's were wonderful. I felt like they cared, and they managed to get food offerings for my allergies. Well this is long, but that is why I will not go back to the Poly, and I used to love it.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

The Poly is my absolute favourite place to stay in Disney...that being said I would not stay concierge again. My husband and I stayed concierge for our honeymoon and found that it didn't match our needs. We love eating in the resort resaturants (Citricos, California Grill etc...) and if we ate the nightly food offerings it would ruin our meal.

We also love the Fiji building. We would walk to the GF many evenings and enjoyed the proximity to the path.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will have a great time on our DS3's first time to WDW and the Poly this September.

I have always loved the Poly too...I was just really upset with how our needs we responded to. And its not like we were being demanding or difficult. We just wanted a clean room with functioning parts and a livable environment. I don't think that is too much to ask for a $500 a night room.

I hope you have a great time too!

Cheers,
Josh

Thanks for your honest report. We too did not have a good Polynesian Concierge Experience either. We had a locked safe, hole in wall, broken sliding door and broken electrical outlet when we checked in. Never got the chocolate postcard. Barely got an aloha after the lst day, maybe a quick nod as required etc. How can the cms get to know you when they have to pull double duty inside the GCH desks too? For the price you pay the service definetely seems to be lacking. We split our stay with the Dolphin and this time just did the Swan and saved over $500 because there were no ap discounts at the Poly. I think Disney needs to improve their customer service big time. If we stay at the Poly again it will also only be a garden view room and not concierge. Sounds like you had a good time at WL, maybe I can convince the family to stay there. Hope disney responds to your e mail. Keep us informed.

I will definately update you guys if I hear from my email...I would certainly expect it. If I don't hear something within 2 weeks I plan on calling. I'm really upset about it and I'm planning my honeymoon for next may. Always planned on going and staying nice at WDW, but if they want my business down there in May, they need to step up and make ammends on this last trip. Otherwise I might just upgrade to a longer crusie and say forget it.

I hope not though...I love WDW too much. I'm just really disenchanted by the problems and treatment.

And if you need help convincing your family that WL is awesome, I'll be glad to speak up for you! DC and I loved it there! Fantastic. Might now be my favorite resort.

Cheers,
Josh

This December my family and I are staying at the Polynesian Concierge (Or Club Level since that is now the correct way to say it.) and all I can say is I hope that our experience will be a lot better then what some of you have experienced, because there have been others who have posted that they had amaizing stays there and how the Cast Members were very helpful.

Hello!

I read your TR...Fantastic! Thanks!!!

I cannot believe you all had such problems at the Poly and in Concierge!! That is totally unacceptable for them not to get it fixed RIGHT AWAY.

Can I ask why you and DC did not stay in a room at the Poly by the ladies? Just curious....

Thanks..hope you continue to read and enjoy.

As for DC and I...he was a late addition to the trip and by the time he found out he could go there weren't any good rates left at the Poly...so we found AAA rates at the WL. It was mostly a fiscal decision.

RE: CR Fan 4 Life...I hope you have a great time. I genuinely love the Poly...I've just really been disheartened. I've never had an experience like this there before and was flabbergasted when it happened to us. But even more so, the way the CMs were in general was as if they didn't want to help anyone....the whole place felt different this year compared to the last 3.

Cheers,
Josh

I know we can't comment on the Cast Members at the Polynesian since we have not stayed there yet, however I do remember someone had a post where they did not have some nice things to say about the Cast Members who work at the Atrium Club at the Contemporary. Now when my family and I have stayed there they have always been so nice and helpful, so I just figured that one person did not have such a good stay there. So I am hoping that we will have good luck at the Polynesian and what happened to you won't happen to us and to anyone else who will be staying there in the future.

Gosh, I hope they do better in December. I have the concierge booked for our visit and I am expecting a nice stay. We stayed there years ago (4 or 5) and it was great. I am nervous, to say the least.

More than likely you'll have a great time and love it. Our trip was a fluke and I was just really upset by the service and response to our problems. It was a literal nightmare.

Like I've said above...I have loved this place for years and until now, its been my favorite resort. But this trip just felt different...and thats not good.

Cheers,
Josh

We leave in two weeks for I believe, our 18th stay there. We like the location of the Hawaii building and the convenience of breakfast and the fireworks viewing. We ask the CMs for absolutely nothing. We make all of our own plans before leaving. I have noticed a significant drop in service over the past 3 or 4 years and were it not for my children loving the Polynesian so much, I would choose another resort. We have definitely been less loyal to the Poly over the past few years. This year we've been at the Dolphin, the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary and the Boardwalk Inn(me at a conference). In the past, I would have stayed only at the Polynesian. Obviously, there are still a lot of plusses to the Poly or it wouldn't be so popular. For us, that tropical theme says "vacation" every time. If expectations are realistic, I think that most people will have a nice time. Take care, Threehearts
