Well, we just got back from the Nick Hotel for two nights and we had a great time. The pools were outstanding, our room was great, and the kids had fun which is why we stayed there. We were surprised as we got a free upgrade to a SpongeBob suite without asking. The character interaction was wonderful. Now for food: Surprisingly enough it was good!!!!! I was scared about this as I read bad reviews, but it worked okay for us. The character breakfast did have some negatives...(runny eggs) but other than that, it was great. We did have dinner one night at the Nicktoon Cafe and it was awesome. For $19.95 you got an all you can eat dinner and it included:

Alaskan snow crab legs (HUGE)
Salad (caesar/house)
veggies
Turkey
Roastbeef
mashed potatoes
a pasta bar which had spaghetti, fettucine alfredo
Bread and alot more which I can't remember right now.

Overall, the hotel was great. However, the public areas are showing wear and tear and it's only been about 4 months since the grand opening. For example, alot of the elevators are all scratched, the arrows pointing you around are peeling, and the mall had an area of floor that had to be redone.

This did not effect our stay, but it was noted.

Let me know if you have questions!

Hey Spidey.....glad you enjoyed your stay. We leave in 10 days for 2 nights at The Nick Hotel and were wondering if the characters are just walking around the hotel, or do you have to go to the Character Breakfast to meet them? Also, are there DVD players in the suites?

Thanks for the info!

Shannon

No, the characters do not roam around the hotel, however, when you check in you will get what they call a "script." It tells you what is going on at the hotel for the week. They do have meet and greets in the afternoons at the "mall." We saw all the characters during the days we were there at those times and at breakfast. They have Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Dora, Blue, Cosmo and Wanda. The suites do not have a DVD player or a vcr for that matter. At least ours didn't.

How much is the regular breakfast buffet where the kids are free? Did you try that? Also, do they have a restaurant where you could just order off the menu instead of a buffet?

Thanks!

Hey Spidey, were about to enbark on a 7 night stay at the nick hotel.Just starting to wonder if were not going to miss out on all the DIS magic by staying of the WDW property. Is there any truth to this bear in mind we have a WDW pakage and for the most part will not explore any other theme parks.

Thanks!

The regular breakfast buffet is 9.99 per adult and the kids do eat free. It's your standard fare, but not bad at least not for us.

Now, as for the Disney magic. The hotel is great, but you can't compare it to "Disney resorts." ...or you may be disappointed. It's a different kind of magic. I remember saying to my wife "We could have stayed at the Yacht Club for what we are paying here...." But the kids loved it and that is what mattered, plus we did have a suite vs. a room. It is a great resort and I think you will have a great time, but don't compare. It's a different experience. And if you really are homesick for Disney, you are so close to the parks and DTD, that you can be there in minutes.

Have fun!
