I've responded to a couple of threads and asked questions about the Liki Tiki in the past. Now that I'm back, I thought I'd share our wonderful experience. I was not expecting to like the Liki Tiki, not so much because of the resort, but because of the location. We own DVC and always stay onsite. If anything, I'd say the location is really the only draw back. We just got home last night and had a wonderful time. We stayed in one of the townhouse style units that sleep six. There is a king sized master, a second bedroom with 2 twin beds, and a sleeper sofa in the living room. Not wanting to have the kids downstairs we put them on airmattresses in the bedroom while DH and I took the twin beds. (We were guests of DH's cousin, so they got the master.) The second bedroom is tiny, but would be fine if you weren't stepping over a sleeping 5 yo. The kitchen and living room area were more than adequate, but I really loved the screened in patio. We sat out there every night until 11 or 12 enjoying the weather and our adult beverages!
The resort itself had a ton of daily activites as well as the water slide area that the kids loved. DH and his cousin enjoyed the pool bar too! Some of the activities they had were arts & crafts for the kids, tye dyeing, kareoke night, luau night, all you can eat fish fry, Mary Kay pampering session, excersize class, and a ton of other stuff I'm probably forgetting. We didn't attend any of the activities, only observed them and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
As I stated before, the location is a pain. It is ALL the way down 192, almost to Rt. 27. On a positive note, there is a MASSIVE Super Walmart right on rt 27 that was never really crowded and always very clean and neat. We did bypass some of 192 by taking Black Lake Rd. to Sherberth Rd. to get into Disney, but we still had to travel 3 miles or so on 192 in the traffic. In the morning that could take 20 minutes or so. There is also a ton of construction going on at that end of 192, is it ever going to stop? Is the tourism and retirement industries in Central Florida really able to handle all the new construction planned? And if it's crowded now, what's it going to be like in 10 years?
Anyway, if you have any quesitons please feel free to ask!
