we were at ssr from 6/30-7/8-we stayed in grandstand area. weather was great, not too much rain at all. temps were lower than usual for us as we always go this time of year.
now for the bus fiasco. first did not notice any freeloading ddd people at all. usuallly have had them on all previous trips, so perhaps they are not giving the ssr bus info out anymore? who knows.
there was a bus attendant at our stop throughout the day recording all the buses, destinations and times. So basically you could ask and get an idea of when another would show up. The wait times were minimal at ssr, although a bit lengthy from the park ends, I guess it just depended on luck because sometimes we showed up for our bus and it came quickly. I think they are trying to resolve this issue but bus driver told us it is a outdated program and they are trying to fix it.

Glad to hear they are aware and working on it. It was hit or miss at our BC trip over Memorial Day weekend.

We were at SSR 7/3-7/6 and had great bus service again.

And you are right about the DTD people not using the SSR buses. First trip in two years I didn't see hoards of them using the buses.

I'm SO glad they are working on this problem because it has kept me away from my home resort and pushed me towards BWV!

Are they using the free parking at DTD and then taking the bus from SSR to the parks?? I did notice a few people on our last trip that didn't look like they were staying at SSR but didn't think much of it.

Yes and there was a time it was promoted because they don't have any busses directly to the parks and SSR is the closest to DTD (meaning fastest transfer). I've never been negatively impacted by it but I've heard drivers suggest it (with SSR specifically). In addition, you get foot traffic from some of the non-Disney hotels located in the DTD area. I ran into a friend of mine staying at one of those hotels waiting for a bus to the parks. He didn't bother me since he's a DVC member but I know others have used the same method without that connection.

Maybe it's time to treat DTD like the mall it is quickly becoming: Free parking and bus transportation away from DTD with validation from one of the restaurants or room key.:rolleyes1

It really is not a big deal until the fireworks are over (last bus), then you are crammed on the bus with your kids, and a bunch of people who parked at DTD to avoid paying for parking at the parks. I hate to say it but they need to start asking to see your key to the world card to board the bus. (That is what the original policy stated anyway)...Going in August, last year there were people ALWAYS getting on and off at Congress Park. Some were so blatent I actually heard a woman ask the bus driver as she boarded at MK , "this bus goes to the area closest to DTD right?!!" Ugh.... Don't even get me started on the pool thing too!!!

We were there 7/2-7/7 and agree that the bus situation was fine. We only used it to go to MK and one night to EP. We wanted to see the MK fireworks on the third so we to the bus to the MK (short wait), monorailed over to Poly and watched them from the beach. After the show we walked to the bus station at Poly, waited a couple of minutes and then to a bus to Downtown Disney, from there a short walk to our room in Congress Park. It all worked out great.

The longest wait we had was returning from MK on the 7th, we just missed the bus and waited about 20 minutes for the next one.

I'm glad it's getting better. We went in June and the bus situation was terrible. There were people at the stops monitoring & writing down when busses came, but it wasn't really helping. Sounds like they're working on improving it though.

when we were down in june a heard multiple bus drivers say, this is the downtown disney stop, when stopping at congress park. everyone in my party didn't know why, so thanks to you, i knew how to answer it.

there were a lot of families that used SSR bus that took off for DTD.

not really right in my eyes. if disney doesn't mind it (majority of SSR fans do), they should offer a free shuttle for those who park at DTD.

We made a quick side trip after Daytona on July 6 & 7 and had no problems with the buses at all. We did have some long waits in February but this trip was great!:thumbsup2

We were there the 1st-8th and went to Daytona also! It was great, never been to a night race. We live 10 minutes from Pocono Raceway.

This was our first time too AND we have only gone to POCONO!!! We are from Long Island and have gone to several Pocono races and wanted to try for a big-time night race and we had so much fun at Daytona that we are thinking about going to the Daytona 500 before our February Disney vacation:love: Sorry to change the subject:thumbsup2
