Hi everyone,
We just returned home from our first use of our DVC membership we stayed 8 days at SSR and everything was awesome. SSR is fantastic, the layout is great, and we stayed in room 1603 1 bed room in Congress Park facing DTD\PI. We were very close to the quiet pool and within walking distance from the Carriage House and The Main pool. A few things I noticed that were posted about on this board like, how far of a walk it was to DTD or the Carriage House were mostly on the money. Im only 5 foot 8 and a chunky 200 lbs so walking, although not a chore is usually not my first choice but I walked with my 7 year old DD to the Carriage House from my building in 6 minutes and to DTD with my DW and DD in 8 minutes so the distance of the walks were absolutely fine. We didnt use the boat service so I cant say how long of a walk that would have been to the dock. Ive also seen posts about the plainness of the buildings, the only thing I can say about that is, huh?. I think SSR looked great. I liked the concrete open halls as they seemed to open things up on the walk to my room. I thought they were a nice touch. It was also nice to able to stand in the halls enjoying the sunshine and say hello to people as they walked by and still be able to have the sun on you. The rooms themselves were great too. The only thing I disliked about the rooms was these ridicules ceiling fans that were activated by a motion sensor and did not have a shutoff like most do. Since Im your average 39 year old male, visits to the bathroom at 3am are a common occurrence but those damn ceiling fans would go off and were just loud enough to wake my wife. So for 7 nights I played Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 3: Trip to the Potty, moving slow enough so the fans would not go off. Needless to say, those sensors are pretty sensitive and my mission failed nearly every night. The pools were great too but I do echo most in saying the main pool is too small. The quiet pool was good size but that main pool is not going to cut it. Great slide, my DD and I loved it but when the resort gets a few more visitors watch out. The Artists Pallet was ok. We like to have burgers and chicken strips for quick bites at lunch but were not on the menu. The food we did try was great though. But for us at least, wed like to see a simpler menu. Overall we had a great time at SSR and are planning our next trip to SSR for next July and are working out the numbers to see if we can take another trip this year in November. Thanks to everyone who posts on this site for providing us with so much information and guidance that made our purchase of SSR a very easy affair and we hope to see you Home during our next trip..
