Hi, We just got back from SSR. We were there 11/26-11/29 in a studio. The only complaint I have is that it was too short. It was a last minute trip that we booked about 30 days out and we were glad that a studio was available.

This was our 1st trip staying at a DVC resort. I purchased a resale at BCV and we're already planning something there for F&W next year.

We arrived at SSR at 1:30pm and were happily surprised that our room was ready in the Grandstand section. The check in CM pointed out the features of the resort and the walkways to the main building and DTD but we just didn't have time to explore the resort. We spent our 2 days in the parks and we didn't see much of the resort itself. The resort was beautiful but I do think it's a little too remote for us. We really prefer the Epcot resort area although SSR would be a good choice for getting away from it all.

We only used the buses to MK and we really didn't wait more than 10 minutes tops. The room was in good shape although I think that the cleaning service at ALL Disney resorts has slipped. Probably due to either outsourcing or cost cutting.

We enjoyed our stay and we would recommend SSR. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

It sounds like a great trip! From the thread on wanting booking areas at SSR, you hit the jackpot and got a great location at the last minute!

Was there something in the parks that you especially liked?

We really got lucky with our room. I think it was a great location and if we had been there longer I know we would have really enjoyed the quiet pool and the grounds itself. It really struck me that for such a large resort it was very quiet which was nice. I was thrilled that it was ready at check in because we had just gotten off of a 10 day cruise in Ft Lauderdale and I was VERY sea sick the last day and that morning.

We were really trying to concentrate on both the new things in the park or the special holiday extras. For many years we've always gone to WDW the 2nd week of Dec but we've decided to try the last week of Oct '08 for F&W and the Mickeys not so scary party.

With that in mind we saw the Osborne lights which I always enjoy. This was the 1st time we've seen them with the dancing light effect. We made sure we saw the holiday illuminations (we sat for 1hr in drizzle because that was the only night we could see them). Of course we ran over to try Expedition Everest for the 1st time. The GF was beautiful with the holiday decorations. I had wanted to visit all of the deluxe resorts to check out their holiday displays but of course we ran out of time.

Isn't that first stay as a DVC member cool? We had our first stay as member this past summer at BWV. We had stayed before, but this trip was just different. We had such a good time and the stay made us even feel better than we already do about our purchase!

Glad you had a good time and wish you many more GREAT vacations in the future! :goodvibes
