Just got back from 4 nights Poly and 4 nights CBR and wanted to share some thoughts.

First of all we stayed at the Poly first which I know was a big mistake but due to our friend's arrival date and budget we had to do that one first. This was our first time at the Poly and we absolutely loved it. We booked a gardenview room but when we checked in at 6:00 Friday night we were upgraded to concierge which was wonderful. The room was beautiful and clean, the beach area with the view of the castle was breathtaking, and the transportation to MK and Epcot was outstanding!! We loved taking the boat!!

Now on the other hand we were not happy with CBR! We have stayed there before and thought it was fine but this time we were in Barbados building 16. It took us at least 15 minutes to walk to the pool and food court so my refillable mug only got refilled twice. The bus transportation was awful. We had to stand almost every time we got on a bus and it just seemed to take forever to get anywhere. Even Epcot and MGM took half an hour!!

I will definitely not stay at a moderate after a deluxe again, no matter what kind of rearranging I have to do and I will scrimp and save every penny I can so that I can stay at the Polynesian every time I go to WDW!!

Just curious - how did you get an upgrade to concierge? Sounds great!!

Hi DisneyFan. I'll bet you wouldn't have been so disappointed in CBR had you not done the Poly first. Which proves something I've often said, "Once you go deluxe, you can't go back." In fact, I posted a thread about that a while ago and I got man many responses. Some folks agree, some don't.

We've been staying deluxe since 1999 and we can't go back to moderate. We just won't. Once you're use to the convenience offered by deluxe resorts like the ones on the monorail line or the Epcot Resorts, it's well worth the money. I like the inside corridors and they sit-down restaurant choices too.

Don't feel bad - just go deluxe.

I have no idea!! I didn't ask - didn't even hint. When we checked in the CM was checking us in and all of a sudden he said " Oh, I need to find you a room" and then he left the counter and was gone for a really long time and when he finally came back he had a big smile on his face and said "You just got an upgrade!". Needless to say I was shocked and thrilled!! I really wished we had been staying there the whole 8 nights instead of switching, but we may not have gotten the upgrade if it had been for that many nights.

I agree!! The whole time we were at CBR my kids kept saying they missed the Polynesian and wanted to go back!! We spend a lot of time at the resort when we are there so I really think the price of the deluxe is worth it for us. I can't describe how cool it was to see the castle first thing every morning and at the end of each day. We loved the Polynesian!! I don't think I'll ever be happy anywhere else!!
