Just back from Silver Lakes Resort!

Spent a week at Silver Lakes just outside of Disney and can't wait to go back next year!
If anyone is planning to visit and anyone wants info, feel free to reply! It was very, very good!!

We are heading down on the 17th, are than any locations that are better than others? What type of unit did you stay in and could you describe it. How long was it getting to the parks, did you always go by Animal Kingdom or did you drive on US 192? Any info you can provide would help a bunch. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the long delay...was away from computer for awhile!! Silver Lakes was wonderful. I know it's right adjacent to Animal Kingdom, but you'd never know it. (Someone did say if you go to the top of the 5-story section, you'd see it clearly.)
We stayed in "the 100 building"....the older section, but as far as I'm concerned, it couldn't have been better. In fact we spoke with a couple who bought at Silver Lake and they said while they were "pursuaded" to look at the newer section to buy, they insisted on buying in the old section...(which obviously has been renovated.)
We had a top floor condo...(2 bedroom, 8 max they call it). You walk in and you're in a long dining room/living room combination. Very spacious with a nice television and pull-out sofa (where our 13-year-old son slept.) Kind of around the corner as you walk in is a large and well-equipped kitchen. A washer-dryer is tucked away behind folding doors.
Then there are two bedrooms. The master actually had a separate area with a dressing area/jacuzzi. It really was great.
The pool area was outstanding....it's like 3 or 4 large swimming pools all connected in a well-designed and landscaped way. The cabana at poolside was great! We loved it....a breakfast buffet if you want ....and everything from chicken sandwiches/salads/chili/hot dogs. They also have various frozen tropical drinks....with alcohol for us...none for the kiddies!
You pull out of the resort...and drive about a half-mile to get to 192....then it's a left turn and about a mile to the Disney entrance! It couldn't have been better or more convenient...you're on Disney property in a couple minutes!
I admit, this is the first time we've stayed off site and I have no knowledge of any other place....but honestly, we've already promised the kids that next year, we'll go right back...(and hopefully get the same exact room.) Oh...forgot.....you also get a screened-in porch out the back of your unit with a table, chair and paddle fans!

Sounds wonderful. I passed by them while in Orlando in April.

RCI...time share group. Beware....they try to book you when you check in...and leave messages periodically thru-out the week...to give you a "tour" for the purpose of buying into the place.
We simply declined and they were good about it!
