Just returned last nite. Loved the hotel...so much more than the Hard Rock and we were Club level at the Hard Rock and not at the RPR!

The ambience, staff and general warm feeling was great!

We rented a cabana for 2 days and the hotel comped us a day since they closed the pool area at 5p on Sunday. In addition, around 5:15p on Sunday there was a knock at our door and a staff member was delivering (to all those that were not part of the private party at the pool) a lei, an apology from the management and a lovely aray of chocolates/fudge. The presentation was beautiful and the whole gesture left such a good feeling with us!

If you rent a cabana and are a Lowes First member it will cut the price almost in half. We paid $40/day instead of $75.

The Islands restaurant was wonderful! Breakfast was great and dinner was amazing. Tchoup Choup was to die for! And the poolside dining was very good.

We were upgraded to a waterview room. We had a nice view of the pool but I think the view will be obscured very soon as the palm tree in front of the window is growing quite fast! LOL

Our room was on the lobby level in Tower 1. We found this very convenient.

Any questions...ask away!

DH used the workout room and found it excellent.

Cora,

Thank you for the wonderful information. I am so excited for our upcoming trip.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the information on the discount for a cabana rental! I was thinking about renting one but now that I know that there is a discount available for Loews members I'm going to make a reservation and suprise my family!! This is a surprise trip for our DS and his best friend!!

I am so glad that you had a wonderful trip!

Hope youl have a great time! Enjoy!

What time did you check-in? Was your room ready? Were there many small children at the resort? We have girls ages 1-6. Thanks!!!

We checked in at 6:30pm so yes, our room was ready. I do recall seeing quite a few small children.

How did RPR compare to the hotels you have stayed in at Disney. I know a lot of people don't like to compare them but what do you think?

I'd love to hear more details about your trip. Did you order room service? Did you find the food to be expensive?

What Universal hotels have you stayed on Club Level at? Did you enjoy your experiences?

Thanks:D

I just called to rent a cabana for July. I was told there is no discount with Loew's First. I decided to rent the cabana for a half day (8am-3pm). It is $45 for a half day. There was only 1 cabana left, so I'm glad I called today.

Florida Fam,
We belong to DVC and our home is Boardwalk. That however is not a fair comparison. We've stayed at WL, AKL (concierge), Poly (concierge) Dolphin, Coronado and Dixie. I would find it comparable to WL and the Poly. However the club level at HRH could not compare to either AKL or Poly. AKL & Poly far surpassed it! We've only done club at HRH. Although I find that it is comparable to the Poly I found the atmosphere at RPR more welcoming.

Cora,

We know the RPR is pet friendly. Do you know this is handled for guests with severe allergies?

Any info on this would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Deb

Deb,
I have no idea...so sorry.

Pagemaker - I'm pretty sure I've seen somewhere that they have designated "pet" rooms - just like "smoking" rooms. If it makes a difference in whether you stay there or not, I'd call the hotel directly and ask.

thanks for the help gals. I will call them directly to find out and let everyone know.

Deb

FYI, at the RPR, Tower 2 is designated the Pet Tower. Towers 1 and 3 don't have pets. When we checked in, I mentioned that we have allergies, and they made sure we weren't in Tower 2. Hope this helps!

Wow...we were in Tower 2 and didn't even notice that it is designated for pet owners. Well...they did a great job!! Didn't smell nothing...maybe cause I didn't see nothing and we were there for 5 nights!! Maybe Tower 2 but on a certain floors only.

I don't think many people travel to Universal with their pets. You'd have to leave them in the room so long when you went to the parks. I only saw 2 dogs the whole 5 days we were there and both were in the lobby. We fly to FL and prefer to leave our dog home since it would be so confining there. We're never in the room for long.
My son did have a friend visit with his puppy while we were there(the friend lives in FL and just brought the pup to show him to everyone.)

Glad to hear you like Tchoup chop. another women recently posted it as horrible! I have reservations for June 26 and hope to have a great meal.

Cora,

Please forgive my stupidity,.....but what is this cabana that you guys are talking about renting. What's the info

Thanks,

Steph

Just curious about the discount on the cabana. Please let us know how you got it! Great deal!

I also loved this resort. Thanks for the review!

Robinrs,
I just asked and I told the woman that I was a Loew's First Member.
