Just back from Portofino

Hi, we have just returned back to chilly old Engalnd after spending 12 nights in Florida, the last 2 of which were at the PBH. We stayed here last October in a Deluxe room with a lovely view of the Villa pool. This time we opted for a Bay view and I thought the room was just as nice and there really is no need to spend the extra on a Deluxe room. However I was disappointed with our view this time. We were right by the boat dock which was convenient, however there was a large palm tree right outside out window obstruting the view of the bay and to be honest we may as well have had a garden view room. Other than that however we had a fantastic stay and cannot fault this hotel.

I do have a quesion i am hoping somebody can answer fo me. Aa couple of times when we missed the boat we got the rickshaw guys to take us to the parks. There is a sign in the carriage bit stating that these guys work for just tips and we really had no idea how much we should be giving them. We started off with $5, then thought this wasn't enough and next time gave $10 and then felt bad when we saw another family give a $20 tip. Does anybody know what the norm is so that we know for next time as we will definately be back?

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay....as far as rickshaws... we give at least $5pp...figure, it's good money to make for less than 15 minutes of work! Just use good judgment & give whatever you feel like.

We just got back from the Portofino too. Perhaps we ran into each other Great stay with even greater weather!

We never used the pedi-cabs as we are a family of 5 and would have had to catch two cabs at a time, so I can't help you with the tip question.

We just missed the boat and we looked over to the one rickshaw. I ask him where his buddy was...if he was here we would take the rickshaw. He said no problem and all four of us got on his rickshaw...mind you are two children are 4 and 7. We had a blast and her said we were alot lighter than most of his rides even though there were four of us. We also gave rickshaw guy a $10 tip which I would perceive to be very good for about 6 minutes of work.
