Just back from POR

Just returned from POR. We have stayed here several times in the past and have really enjoyed it. This time it just didn't wow us. We were very pleased that we got a corner room, 1st floor and connecting rooms facing the quiet pool. My only request was building 18 or 14 and connecting or adjoining rooms. The rooms definatily showed signs of wear and tear which you would expect. The only thing that bothered me was that there was some mold and mildew in the bathroom and the dust bunnies. I feel as those should not be there. They cannot always help the stains on the carpets. But I loved the location of the room soooooo much that I just mentioned that it needed to be cleaned better. Never did. But I did not let it bother me or ruin my vacation. Something like that does not bother me. But what did was the bus transportation to AK and BB. Between the 2 of them we went 3 times. It was always crowded at the bus stops for this bus everyone would crowd on and fight for a spot. One time we waited for 30 min a bus finally came, the bus driver said he would call for another, so we decided to wait cause there was only standing room and we had a baby with us and small children. WRONG!! Nobody came so after another 30 min I asked a driver to TL and DD if he could call. Cause everybody there was waiting for AK and BB. He said he could do nothing. So finally another bus comes. Okay want to know how long this took? We arrived at the bus stop at 8:00 and finally at 9:35 we were at BB. Now I am a big defender on the transportation at Disney. I feel alot of complaints they are just being inpatient. But this was awful. So I did complain to transportation. I feel in the mornings in the summer they need 2 seperate busses to AK and BB. Later mornings and afternoons is fine to share. And the main bus stop really needs a line. On this incident we were the 2nd family there, and could not get on the first bus. The rest of the bus transportation was WONDERFUL!! No problems. Anyway sorry to ramble on. Otherwise we had a wonderful vacation. Next time we do want to try out the EPCOT area. But if this is what we could afford I definately would stay here again. It is a beautiful resort. Food court was great. And love the rehab of the main pool. CUTE!! Any questions?

My husband and I got a great rate to stay at POR the first week in December. With all the rehab going on I was wondering out the stay was. Granted, December is a long way from now and they could be a lot further a long with the process but I was wondering, was the rehab was really intrusive? Was the food court all open? You mentioned the pool, I guess this area has already gone through the rehab and so we don't have to worry about that?

How did you get a great rate for December? I didn't think the codes were out yet. Just wondering as I have November ressies for POR.

I did not notice any rehab. If they are doing it did not notice. Last year they were paintiing the outside of some of the AB buildings and it did not bother us at all. Yes, the main pool has already gone through rehab. And yes, the food court is all open.

I was there with you waiting for the AK bus. We got there around 8:10 and didn't get on a bus until 9:20. I have three small children and I am not going to push my way onto a bus like most of those losers do. I couldn't believe grown men were pushing there way in front of my 5 year old daughter. So before I killed one of them I told my wife we would back up and wait for the crowds to go away. Then there were about three AK buses in a row. This has happened to me in the past. I understand that there are going to be problems with the system. Every now and then you are going to have a delay of some kind.


If you are caught in a delay like this go to guest services when you get to your park. Kindly explain what happened and ask for fast passes to make up for the time you lost. On our last visit to CBR the same thing happened one day. Both times they were very apologetic and gave us two fast pass tickets for the whole family.

They need to get some type of line like you said. The way it is set up now is horrible when it gets crowded. It needs to be more organized. People (losers) just walking up can just push their way in front of you when you have been waiting for a long time. The ASMO has a set up where each park has a seperate line. They all should be like that.

I too am just back (actually came back Sat.). We used our car for the water parks and really didn't have many problems with the buses to the major parks. I had requested building 18 when I booked six months ago (a smoking room). When I checked in they had me in building 38 (long way out there). I explained that i had asked for a smoking room, they said that they did not have that on my reservation (I only called twice and faxed it) but the only smoking building was 18 and it was full. They offered to put us in the Mansions with a rollaway bed (we have three kids) but that it would be cramped. They then ended up putting us in building 28 and sent us ashtrays - not very nice for the people that booked non-smoking rooms after us but they said they do it all the time - go figure! Other than that our stay was great - the room was not bad but the wallpaper was peeling off the wall in the bathroom. I didn't like the long walk to the foodcourt and we only ate there twice (bought five mugs and definately did not get our moneys worth as it was too far a walk). Everything appeared to be up and running in the food court. I must say that this was my third stay at POR (twice as DXL) and will probably be my last - I was not happy with the resort this time around it has definately changed.

We just got back today from POR also. We had trouble getting a bus from AK back to POR last Thursday. One bus came and filled up with people and we were not able to get on so we just waited for the next bus. Unfortunately the next bus didn't come for 45 minutes. Several people tried to slip to the front of the line but after waiting that long none of us waiting in line let them do it without telling them where the end of the line was. Evidently when the bus finally came everyone looked so upset with the bus driver that he started yelling at everyone on the bus saying if you have a problem to tell hotel management and not to give him dirty looks. So there is obviously a problem with the AK/BB sharing of the bus if several of us have ran into problems.
