I wish I was back at the POR!! Waking up this morning to the winter storm:scared1: after 80 degrees and sun for a week was depressing!! There were seven of us total...me, my dh, and our three boys (ages 5, 4, and 20 months) in one room and my father and his wife in another room. We had surprised them with a trip...they had never stayed on Disney property before and had no clue of all that Disney has to offer.

Anyways, we had a great time and thought the POR was beautiful. We were in the Alligator Bayou rooms 2401 and connecting room 2402. The rooms were beautiful and quiet!! Plus we were real close to the West Depot bus stop. The bathtub faucet in our room did have a pretty bad drip and we did notify the front desk but it was never seen to during our trip. Wasn't a big deal to us as we could shut the bathroom door to not hear it. We were also close to a pool and laundry.

The walk back to the lobby and food court was a pain at times....mainly after a long day in the parks when I wanted to go refill the mugs!

Our bus stop was never crowded but the buses were sometimes packed after all the stops. For the most part people were very respectful and would get up to give a seat to a younger child although as always there are a few grouches.

I found the food court to be very busy. We stayed at the All Star Movies last year and do not recall it ever being that busy.

We had one incident while there....we had returned from Downtown Disney and went to see if some of our packages had made it there yet. The baby was getting restless of being in the stroller and wanted to run around so I decided to head back to the room with him and my middle son. That left my dh, my oldest son and my father and his wife. A little while later there is a knock at the door....I knew it was my son. So I figure that they were too lazy to pull out their keycards. My middle son opens the door and it is my oldest with my father’s wife. She explains that my dh was with my father as he had taken a pretty bad fall and had the medics there. She said that he was bleeding pretty bad which panicked me as he is on a blood thinner. I immediately called my dh and found out that they were on their way back now and that he had been cleared by the medics. My father had been carrying the backpack and had his thumbs around the shoulder straps. My oldest had been pretending to skate and stepped in front of his grampa....that and with the crack/uneven walk, my father went down with out a chance to get his hands down first....he hit his face pretty hard and cut his nose, chin and forehead. There were some very helpful people who helped out...two ran to get help and one lady ran to her room and came out with some towels to apply pressure to. She then stood out and directed the medics to where he was. I wasn't there so wasn't able to thank her or the others personally so if you were the ones who helped him, thank you!!!! The manager on came right out and got info. I guess he was very helpful and had offered to get him to a hospital if we wanted. He had gotten his contact info but we never heard from anyone again.

Other then that one incident, we had a good time.

We came back from POR a few days ago. I wasn't too impressed. We have stayed at Pop 3 times and ASMo once, so this was our first time at a moderate. I was so looking forward to it! We were in 1721 in the AB section. First off, would it kill them to have a few more outlets! AND perhaps more than one trash can. Seriously, we had one trash can and one recycling can. We each had cell phone chargers, a rechargable battery charger and my Mom's make up mirror. We had to move around things in order to plug in the coffee maker. The bathroom itself is much smaller than Pop, they make up for that with the sink area. My sister in law and her Mom stayed in 1720 and had $50 stolen from her bag (not in the safe - admittedly she shouldn't have left it out). They reported it to the front desk and the following day she found $30 back in the safe in an envelope with her name on it :confused3 The grounds didn't look very neat at all. Lots of leaves and foilage that needed cleaned out and swept away. The food court did move faster than Pop as far as the lines are concerned but the drink stations were a MESS. Lots of spills in front of all of the stations and in the four mornings we ate there I never saw one working attempting to clean up the area. The buses are an absolute nightmare. We were the first stop for POR. Since POFQ had already loaded, the buses were always full. We ended up taking a cab to MGM and to Downtown Disney (went too early to take the boat). The covering and benches at the bus stops are nice but there is no order there so we encountered many not so Disney people very irritated for people that were "cutting" in line. There was no way to form a line!!! We are staying at Wilderness Lodge next December so I'll give the deluxe a shot but if I had to choose between POR and Pop - POP wins HANDS DOWN!! :thumbsup2

Sorry about what happened to your dad! But glad you guys had a good time! We LOVE POR! We've stayed there twice and it's definitely our favorite...just the whole atmosphere is great!!!

Sorry to hear about your dad's accident! POR looks like a great resort, and I think that's where we'll be staying next if we don't go during Christmas. Welcome back!! :)

Our family of 4 LOVED POR when we went this past October! We had never stayed at a moderate before. We loved the atmosphere, the rooms were very nice, and the foliage and landscaping were so great! It was so peaceful there! Too bad I can't live there!!!:lmao: We also enjoyed Bob the piano player there a couple of nights. What a hoot!!!!:rotfl2: We will definately be back at this resort in the future!!!!:thumbsup2

We just got back from POR on Sat and i'm ready to go back! I hated coming home to 20 degree weather! I did find it annoying that the buses were so full so much, but I do love the resort!

We also just returned from POR on Saturday night after spending 11 glorious days in Florida and Disney. Wish we were still there...it's also snowy and COLD here in Ohio!

Our room was in Oak Manor facing the river. We loved it at POR! We thought it was quiet, clean and well taken care of. Our mousekeeper, Manuela, was wonderful! I loved the walk to the food court (about 5 minutes) and the scenery is beautiful. The past 2 years we've stayed at Pop Century. While my DH and I both thought that Pop's food court had a better set-up, I think all-in-all we preferred the quietness and the little extra space of POR. The curtain by the sinks is nice; as we have a growing DD that need's her privacy. ;o) We would definitely stay at POR again.

Our family of 4 plus grandmother have stayed at POR for the last 3 years leading up to this year and have always had a good experience except October of 06. The grandmother was scheduled to have knee surgery when we got back from WDW and had a doctor's recommendation to use a wheelchair as much as possible, so we had requested building 14 or 15 to be close to the food and main building. For six months leading up to our trip, everyone I spoke with on the phone had assured me that this would be no trouble. When we checked in, a grumpy little old lady informed me that requests were just that, requests and did not have to be honored. We were placed in building 28. Not a happy camper with room assignment. But we made the best out of it and had a great vacation. Decided to try the other theme park and this year took our money to US/IOA. Not bad, different experience. Had fun but can't spend five days there. Will go back to WDW for the 12th time in October and try one more time at POR. Wish us luck!:santa:
