Greetings to my fellow Disney addicts!
After lurking on the boards for several months gaining valuable info, I want to do my part and help dismiss some of the anxiety surrounding POR.
A friendly CM (Coraly?) checked us in quickly on Tues, 7/15. We pretty much had the lobby to ourselves! The CM transporting us to AB 34 entertained my girls with stories of the resident alligator. We found the resort and room clean. The first bus we went after (to MGM) came within 2 minutes.
I asked if the resort was full and was told yes, although that may be a standard reply. There were certainly people about, but it never seemed overcrowded, with the exception being the food court in the morning and again in the evening/night when people returned from the parks. All the bus stops/food court are open. Our room was serviced every day no matter what time we returned to the resort, most days complete with towel animals. The bus service was better than on previous visits, we sat more than stood. I asked for extra towels and pillows and got them in short order. There was no sign of refurbishment or construction in POR, although we did drive by POFQ and see a few trucks about.
Every CM we encountered there was very accomodating, in fact, Coraly serviced us a second time when there was an issue with our keys. We have always stayed at POR and loved it. Now, more than ever, I highly recommend it. Everyone stop worrying and go and have a great time!
Some suggestions: I've checked in on weekends before, and even Mondays. Tuesday is a much better choice--no line!
Laundry is $2 a load to wash, and then another $2 to dry. Depending on how many clothes are in a load, this may take you at least two cycles to dry.
If you don't get the mugs for soda, cans are much cheaper out of the vending machines in each bayou than in Fultons.
Have a magical stay!
