... and I hated it! :(

It was noisy, and impossible to sleep (and I'm a hard sleeper). While the theming is great, and the resort in and of itself is nice, it's just way too noisy (for me) to enjoy staying there.

I can tell you that they start cleaning the pool area every morning around 6 or 7 (because I could hear them doing it), I knew who's luggage got delivered when (because I could hear the carts), and I can tell you the bathroom habits of all of my neighbors because of the constant toilet flushing we heard. :rotfl:

The pool was nice, but we only got to enjoy it once because it was so crowded at all times of day (and night). :crowded:

All in all, I don't think I will ever stay there (or any value) again. I will fork over the extra cash and stay mod or deluxe.

I know there are some people who love POP, and that's great, and I can see where the resort has it's virtues, but for me, the negatives outweighed the positives, and I don't think I will ever be a return guest at POP. :worried:

Aww... Im sorry you're experience there wasn't what you wanted, but i hope you still had an awesome time with the Mouse!!!:thumbsup2

I think this is exactly why I've never wanted to stay at the values. I've heard that it's great for families, but since I don't have kids, I know that the noise level would just wear on me.

I am sorry you did not enjoy the POP, we like it but we have small children and we must be so used to noise that we don't even notice it,:rotfl:
I hope you enjoyed everything else about your trip and the parks!!! The mods and deluxes do look beautiful a whole different experience, we did the CBR and it is just so much more laxed environment than the values we stay at now with the kiddos!!!

Wow! My brother stayed at the Pop and they loved it. I have never been able to risk a value resort. I have value resort anxiety and always end up upgrading us because of it. I am sorry it was so loud. When we stayed at the Riverside in Feb, we had a pool right outside our room and we never heard any one in the pool.

We felt the same way there on our May visit. Bit of a bummer as I had hyped it up after reading reviews on here. Glad that many can still enjoy it though.

We are planning to stay there ONE night, (before our Poly stay) as we are driving in pretty late. I've been nervous about it for the very reasons you stated, but I keep thinking "it's only one night".

I'm sorry you couldn't get any sleep on your trip. :(

There are plenty of quiet locations there. Add that request to your reservation, and ask again at check in. If you're only going to be there for one night and are driving in, you may want to request close to a parking lot.

I'm sorry you had such a 'less than perfect' stay at POP. I'm going to assume that you had a preferred room that was close to a pool. I've always been in a standard room and it has been very quiet. I do have a preferred room booked for my Sept stay...we'll see how I feel on Sept 8, after I return home!!
I will say that all my stays at POP, 4 of them now, have been very good. The toilet noise has yet to bother me. I've had the same noise at all the resorts I've stayed at, with the exception of the Polynesian. Not sure why that is, but that was my experience.

Awwww...that is really too bad! We do love POP. However, when it was just DH and myself we stayed at the POFQ and loved it. I think with young children POP is definately great!!! Adults only might prefer a more sophisticated setting...ie Mods or Dlxs.

I am like one of the other posters...I must be immune to the noise as we stayed in the bowling pin bldg and never heard doors, toilets, pool noise, or people. My noise tolerance level must be pretty good!!!;)

Sorry to hear you didn't have such a good stay at Pop.

It sounds like you were in a very high-traffic area with the luggage carts and pool activity noise. Each time I've gone with DD8 we've stayed in a building away form the noise (usually 70's section facing the lake).

I agree with other posters who have said Pop is more for families with kids (or college students on a budget). I love Pop but honestly I can only stand a few days there before checking into a Deluxe. I do enjoy those days though! :thumbsup2

Yes, my time with the Mouse was indeed, awesome!! Enjoyed the trip a great deal... :thumbsup2

I'm sorry to hear that!

Where was your room?

I'm sorry you had such a 'less than perfect' stay at POP. I'm going to assume that you had a preferred room that was close to a pool.

I did have a preferred room. I was in the 60's section yo-yo building (if you're facing the pool with Classic Hall to your back, it was the building on your left... on the pool side).

It was necessary for me to have a preferred location because I have Lupus, and I needed to be close to the food court, etc, etc, so that I wouldn't have a super long walk to get to the car, food, etc. Having Lupus means I can get tired very easily, and it's not your normal "tired", it's down to the bone fatigue that makes it impossible to do anything, really, especially when you're in a "flare". (And just in case anyone is wondering, I rented an ECV in the parks during the trip, because I couldn't really take too much walking in the Florida heat). I also had to be on the first floor because of the joint pain I experience, stairs are a real PAIN (pun intended), and I didn't want to deal with elevators.

Anyway, this was my first time staying value and will probably be my last. I'm glad I had the experience, though, because at least I can say I tried it, and that it's not for me. (And just being in the World is consolation enough :) )

I'm glad you had a good time anyway. I can imagine that there are several first floor areas of Pop that would be very noisy. I know they cleaned the pathway outside our room every morning (why?) but it wasn't close enough to hear it through the door. Also we were on the 3rd floor.

If you ever decide to chance Pop again, I don't think you need a preferred room, just a request to be close to Classic hall for medical reasons. All of the preferred rooms are pretty close, but there are standard rooms that are as well. They just might be on the lake side, or facing a parking lot. If you go to the Pop info thread, there is a map showing preferred room locations.

We had standard and I requested 70s specifically because it wasn't near a pool. Just don't tell my kids!

My daughter and I only use the room for sleeping at POP so noise has never been a problem. By the time we get back from a full day at the park I'm not certain if my head hits the pillow and I fall immediately asleep or if I fall immediately asleep and then my head hits the pillow. Either way, I hear nothing until the morning alarm clock goes off.

We've stayed at Pop 3 times and 2/3 times, the crowd, degree to which we heard the neighbors and noise levels were big complaints for us too. (No we weren't by the main pool or in a high traffic area.) So don't feel bad, you are not alone w/ your opnion of the resort. For some people, it may be a great fit, but it was just not for us. I'd stay there again if it was between Pop or staying home, but I definately think for us it's worth the extra $$$ to stay at a mod.

My "value" experience was similar to yours. Still Disney. Still had a good time, but too crowded, too loud, too cramped. Won't repeat it, but I'm glad I gave it a whirl. It's like food. How do you know you don't like it if you've never tried it?

We stayed at Pop one night and All Stars Music one night (bookending a stay at OKW). We didn't care for either one. The best part was the food court. I think it would be better if we had kids. I prefer a more relaxing atmosphere.

We just left Pop on Saturday and we commented several times on how quiet things were. We were in the 50's building #2, facing the pool but on the end next to the lake. I was very pleased and we loved it there again. I thought that most of the week the Hippty Dippty Pool close to the 60's was closed. Actually the pool near my building was the full one and it was not bad at all. I think we are like an earlier poster, we are so tired that we drop when we hit the pillow. Everything was great for us and I would certainly do it again. I am sorry to hear that the OP had a bad experience. Maria, our cleaning lady took good care of us and made us lots of towel animals.

I'm with you on the noise issue in the preferred rooms. I stayed in the Playdough building second floor and still found it to be an extremely loud area. I had ASMU booked for my next trip but chickened out and booked POFQ for fear I would'nt get any sleep there either!
