Just Back from POP...NEVER AGAIN

I've stayed at the Pop twice - short weekend trip & 1 night tacked on to the end of a business trip.

I've tried it twice and have definitely decided that the deluxe resorts are well worth the extra money.

Sorry your stay wasn't magical :goodvibes

Sorry to hear your trip wan't so magical or happy. We just stayed at pop and had a great time but of course we do not like quiet and tranquil places like the hustle of busy places like to sit and relax and just people watch and also meet/talk to new people. Also sorry to poster that had to walk by the smokers as I was one of them but got to meet some really nice people and cm's.

We too are just back from Pop 11/28-12/4. We were in room 2308 and had a wonderful trip. All castmemebers went out of their way to be courteous and helpful. Refurbished room was bright, cheerful and clean. Hairdryer nitelight was flashing off & on and was changed without us even asking. Food in food court was good as we ate breakfast there each a.m. Bus lines were orderly and whenever one bus was getting full another pulled up . POP CENTURY ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!! Do have to agree that people were pushy at the MVMCP parade. Even the Christmas Parade taping was a good experience. Can't wait to start planning the next trip:yay:

SO sorry to hear you trip to POP wasn't all that magical. It sounds like an All-Stars stay I had a few years ago.

We've stayed at POP several times--at peak times (Christmas & Easter) and had wonderful stays. Lots of buses during park closing times, great food at the food court (we tend to eat at 'off times' to avoid the dorm-style dining dash) and great service at the front desk. We actually prefer it to moderates. For us it's either Value or Deluxe.

I agree with the original poster. We DON'T like POP!!! That is just too many people in one space. I mean, with 2990 rooms, that is the potential of almost 12,000 people in that small space at once.

Now, having said that, we stayed at All-Stars for MANY years before and after POP was built and really enjoy the All-Stars. All-Star Music is our favorite. They have only 1600 something rooms.

.want to flame me...BRING IT ON!!!!!

Sounds like you are fired up and want to fight!!:scared1:

All kidding aside, I've stayed at the POP at least 5 times and have always gotten my room request and never had any problems. Sorry you had so many...that really isn't the 'norm' there!:goodvibes

Back to the OP, sorry you had a bad experience. I love, LOVE Pop but I've never been when it's crazy busy. The first few weeks of December isn't usually crazy busy, so I'd advice staying away during Spring Break and the month of July.

I think Pop is usually crazy busy around Pop Warner week now because so many people choose to avoid the All Stars to avoid the PW groups. Pop Warner was Dec 4-11 this year, and the OP said he was just back on the 9th so he probably was there for most of that week. In past years, POP was at 100% occupancy during Pop Warner, and the busier the resort the less likely they'll be able to fulfill room requests.

We just returned from a split stay at POP & WL and can tell you it was very busy and rudeness was rampant at both resorts. We still had a great time and do prefer POP as it is so much more 'Disney' (WL is beautiful ). It is just getting too busy this time of the year. I felt the cast members were not so friendly on the most part-kinda going thru the motions.

After staying at POR which was very nice, we have decided that Pop is more for our family. We had a great stay there 2 years ago! Got our room request... 50's building fourth floor with fireworks view.. beautiful (overlooking the lake). We love the food court, the busses are wonderful, and the theming was very Disney. The only thing that leans me toward a moderate is the pool slide for the kids. Anyway.. we are booked there for May! My kids can't wait to stay there again. Sorry for your bad stay, but rude people are everywhere including malls, supermarkets, movie theatres (the worst). Not just at Pop!! :goodvibes

We were at POP Nov.28-Dec.5, and had the complete opposite experience. The only problem we had was a shower head that sprayed every which way but down. One phone call, and it was replaced in half an hour. Housekeeping was great! Many towel animals (which we kept, by the way. I called the front desk and asked if they were intended for us to keep, and they said absolutely!). Only on the last two days did we experience lots of kids and crowds in the food court (Pop Warner was just beginning---I would suggest to you not to schedule your trip during Pop Warner!) As far as the food went---we only ate one dinner there, and I had the Beef And Blue sandwich, and it was really quite tasty! I am sorry you had a bad experience. I would not have walked back the second time. If one key worked, I would have gone in, called, and had them bring me new keys. As far as strollers go, I did not experience the rudeness you describe. There were lots of strollers, but no one rammed us!:scared1:

One opinion about deluxes vs values.

Another opinion that the Pop was a good value in which to stay.

There are always two sides to the story. Right?

I am a huge Disney fan, and to me it sounds like you are blaming Disney for the rude manners of others. Yes, your tickets and room request were their fault. However, rude people with strollers can't be controlled. Also, people do need to clean up after themselves. My DH does more cleaning on vacation than he does at home! You are correct, these people are very rude.

I hope you chose to return to the resort again sometime, and have a much better vacation experience.

At CBR we did not run into a single rude guest! During our whole stay we encounted one rude guest at the MVMCP. We waited for the parade and fireworks for 1hour and some women walked right up before the parade, shoved her family right infront of everyone. We elected not to say anything but it was her early teenage daughter who came and appologized to us for her moms rude behavior.

Have a good holiday!

Can someone please explain what is so "Disney" about giant Big Wheels and the like? I simply cannot fathom how the stuff of various eras is remotely "Disney". Other than the obvious exception of the Mickey Mouse phone, the other things are not Disney at all. Big Wheels? Wasn't that Mattel? Peace Signs? Not coined by Disney. I don't get it. It just seems tacky from the pictures I've seen. And tacky is NOT Disney in my experience. :confused3

I don't see it as tacky at all! There is the Goofy water jets, giant Lady and the Tramp statues, giant Jungle book statues of Baloo and Mowgli. I look at it in my childrens eyes.. ages 6 and 8, and when they stay there they think that they are in Disney. There is dancing in the food court, and the fireworks from our room of Epcot. Just my opinion. My kids at the moderate in May kept asking when they could go back to Pop. My hubby and I enjoyed POR, but we will do what they like while they are small.:)

Rudeness may be found at all resorts, but I GUARANTEEEEEE you that the level found at POP is on an extremely higher plane than you will find at the Yacht Club.

My DH and I are adults with no children and we love staying at POP. We have stayed Deluxe too, but for the price and convience of the food court, we really like Pop. I tried to talk DH into staying at a Mod for our next trip, but he said that Pop feels like home....save the money for more souveniers!!

By the way, rudeness is everywhere...and so can kindess be found!!

The resort is Pop Century....themed on different centuries and not necessarily all Disney each century. This is actually one of the things I like. Not everything is Disney....some are, some are not. And, JMHO, Pop is kinda like nice-tacky.......I mean, the Jungle Cruise some would say is tacky, but that is very Disney.

It was nice of them to send you flowers though.

I have always said I would NEVER bring a stroller to Disney. I cannot stand being bumped into, rolled over, or cut off by the drivers of strollers.

With that said... I am reluctantly planning on taking my son (who will be 34 months) next October... and yes... I'm planning on bringing a stroller... despite my hatred feelings toward strollers at Disney.... but I swear I will NOT become one of the raging parents driving a stroller....

But I agree, there are some families who let their kids stomp through the Disney parks and resorts with no respect to their surroundings or others. I don't know what happened to people's morals and integrity anymore. It's really embarrassing to see kids being raised that way.
