Just back from POP- Any questions?

We stayed at POP and had the same type of experience, except we did get a non-smoking room.

One funny story, a woman was at the concierge arranging a prescription for her son with a high fever. When the conversation was over, the CM said to her, "You have to understand that I have to say this, please understand...have a magical day".

They actually suggest you bring towels from your room (housekeeping will bring more..you just have to ask) in the values. We do that, so we don't smell the chlrine in the room, and because we have no room in our suitcases!

We do express check out (give our credit card when we checked in, and our bill is always on the door in the morning.

I would try hard to get a King room, if you have two pack and plays..lots more room, and you don't need the second bed I assume.

We love the 70's, facing the lake..the grands love the 70's by the Big wheel facing the courtyard. The only rooms we don't care for, are the 80/90's..too far from most everything, imo.

We always sit on one of the benches and people watch before we leave a park, at the end of the day. Even if driving over, we find it fun, and we don't have to deal with crowds. It's a good time to get an ice cream, and unwind a bit.

When we do take a bus in, we find that anytime after 10am is much better than early in the morning.

End of September is a great time to go (as long as there are no hurricanes in the forecast). Usually a bit slow, as the kids are all back in school.

The frozen coke machines have been broken 75% of each trip we have been on..but they taste so good on the few times we have been able to try them.

Hi Lisa! When were you at Pop? We were there June 5-13 in a 1st floor room 50's section also! We were in the Lady section facing the pool, room 1169.

We loved everything about Pop too!

Thank you so much for this wonderful & informative thread! My family (me, DH, DD-13, DS-10, DD-7 & DD-4) will be staying in 2 rooms at POP in August taking advantage of the free dining!

My question has to do with wegoshop.com. I was considering using them for our trip - we shopped for breakfast food on our last visit, and it saved us lots of time and money.

We will also be arriving rather late (to MCO at 8:50pm). Can they deliver to the resort when you are not checked in yet? Or is it better to have them do their delivery the next day?

Also, how did you find their service in general?

I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks! :flower:

They didn't work when we were there in November 04, and when I was there in May, I got 1, and only one at 7:30AM. I went for another one 15 mins later and the machine was only liquid.

When I was there last July, I inquired to a CM about this. They told me all the cafeteria equipment is serviced by Disney, except the Frozen Coke machines. They must wait for a Coke rep to show up.

I just dont know why they cant place more than 2 of these machines in the cafe. :smooth: It seems too simple of a problem to solve.

Did you try to go to other resorts for meals? I want to get a PS for the Cindy meal @ the Grand Floridian and for Chef Mickey's @ the Contemporary. just wondering how easy of difficult it might be.

Thanks again!

Hi Liz! Looks like we were there at the same time! We went June 7-15. i'll bet we were right around the corner from you!

Bounce Buddy, we loved wegoshop.com! The service was excellent. There were a few items they could not find, but they called our cell phone while at the store to ask about replacements. They brought us our groceries right at the time we had requested and even unloaded them into our fridge. Considering a week's worth of breakfasts and lunches cost about the same as 4-5 lunches in the park, we were very glad to use them. Everything with them was smooth and easy. Becca was very nice and on the ball. I don't know if you have to be at the hotel when groceries are delivered. We got ours delivered the next day during our afternoon swimming break.

Soccerchick, we went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast anfd thought it was so much fun! I loved those cheese blintzes with strawberry sauce and the french toast. My girls really enjoyed the Mickey waffles, frosted brownies and breakfast pizza. The napkin twirling was great fun, and the pictures are sooooo cute! I give the whole experience an A+! We also ate breakfast at the castle, dinner at Ohanas and dinner at the Crystal Palace. Honestly, I don't know how hard the reservations are to get. Barbara Wright at Dreams Unlimited Travel handled all of that for us. She was an outstanding TA, and I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Have a great day! Lisa :earsgirl:

Wow, what a great post....this is what this board is really about....someone giving their opinion and report status of how "their" stay was...glad to hear you had a great time...We will be there 3 of 8 nights with the remaining 5 at the Poly...thanks for all the great answers to the questions asked... Sue(Davefrompgh's DW)

Yeah -- glad to hear a good report from Chef Mickeys. I want to do that our first night there since we will do pool, relax, etc. How were the buses traveling to the Contemporary? Do they even have buses that go to the other resorts or did you have to backtrack from mK?

Thanks again for bring so gracious w/sharing your info!

No questions...just want to say that I love POP! :)

Could you see the fireworks from EPCOT? Where could you watch them from?

Not speaking from experience, but only from what I've read on these boards, you can see Illuminations from the 50's building, lakeside, top 2 floors. We have requested this for our upcoming trip in October. Maybe someone who has actually done this can confirm it for us- anybody?

Soccerchick- Unfortunately, there is not a bus going from POP to the Contemporary. To get to any other resorts, you will have to travel to a park and then transfer to a bus, boat or monorail. One of our favorite tricks was to ride the POP bus to Epcot and then take the monorail to MK. The POP CM told me this was a faster way to get to MK when the MK bus line is really long. To get to Chef Mickeys, take the bus to MK, then hop on the resort monorail. The Contemporary your first stop. Take the escalator down 1 floor, and you are there! I'd say it is about a 2 minute ride from MK. It was no problem at all. :flower:

Lisa- I am a teacher, too! I teach third grade in Waco, TX. What grade do you teach? :teacher:

Sorry y'all, I do not know if you can see Illuminations from POP. We were so in love with Wishes that we were in MKsix out of our seven nights to see that! :earboy2:

Oh, I didn't even think about that idea for the busses! Thanks for sharing!

Great name, also! I teach fifth grade in the NW suburbs of IL. Yeah for teachers! :)

If you get there early before your room is ready, is there a charge for them to hold your luggage and deliver it to your room? We are staying at Pop, but will probably get there around 1pm. Not positive the room will be ready and we want to go straight to MK.

No there is no charge for them to hold your luggage. It's free! :)

This is really great, too, depending on the time your flight leaves on your last day, as well. My friend and I had a 8:30pm flight so we checked out in the morning, gave them our luggage for the day and headed off to the parks!

Have a great trip! :)
