Just Back From Polynesian Concierge 12/11/04 - 12/15/04

But 3505 sounds beatiful and many people seem to like having a 3rd floor balcony.

The big thing with a clear 3rd Floor view is the perspective of the Castle and at night, the fireworks. If you compare the castle view on the first floor to that on the third floor, you can see a little more of the castle. To my eye, it's that much bigger and being that a lot of this is catering to the kid in me, it's a superior view.

Also, fireworks are amazing when seen from the third floor. I've had the first floor view, but again, I just think it's better the higher you are.

Every morning we could sit, enjoy coffee and something to eat with an incredible view of the castle and the whole lagoon coming to life.

Finally, with children and the wife, the privacy offered at that level is comforting. There were nights when the we washed the kids up, put on their pajamas and lazed around eating chocolate strawberries with no concern about who might be passing by.

It's all personal preference. However, after a certain hour I revert from a caring husband to a large, vulgar couch potato, roots and all. It is not a sight the general public should be exposed to. We prefer higher up...

Without sounding like an engineer or taking anything away from the great view you had, geometry would tell you that your view of the castle is not really any different. Going up 22 feet will not change your viewing angle on something that is a quarter mile or more away but you do see more of the shoreline from up there.
Here was our view on the castle from the ground.

I went to your site before and was looking at the comparative photos of 1505 and 3505. You're correct, there's not much of a difference, Maybe just taking in the additional details made it seem like there was. Funny how it seems bigger in the photo from the 1st floor on the same page. Still, both views are great. We just like higher up.

Here's the link below if anyone wants to see the difference, visit the site and get their Polynesian fix in the process:

For coffee lovers, you must check out the Kona Cafe, I know it costs, but if you need the nectar of life, the Poly does have it - for a price.... :cool1:

CaipiraBob,

I know many feel more private being up on the 3rd floor and you do get a better view around the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon. I bet you have a better view of Sunset Point and over toward the Contemporary being up on the third floor since you can see over Sunset Point more than if you were on the ground floor.

I think it is great that half the rooms are non-smoking now also eventhough they seemed free of smell back when they were smoking optional.

I am so glad you ended up in such a great room.

Aloha

Steve

I thought the view from 3501 was awesome, plus you're right next to the lounge.

Great review, Bob. The Poly concierge is our favorite too. We stayed at POR with my parents in October, and our 5 y/o DS wanted to know where the concierge lounge was and why nobody was coming out to take our car!! I think we've created a monster!!
I am intrigued by the chocolate covered strawberries, being a major fan of both chocolate and strawberries. From where did you order?

LOL! I can relate. On the last trip, when my daughter continually referred to the castle as "my castle". My fear that we are fostering higher expectations than wisdom would dictate continues to grow...

Awesome report--I enjoyed your candor and humor. Thanks for taking the time to write all of that!

I hope we'll have an opportunity to stay at the Poly some day. . .

Stayed here for Thanksgiving 2004 Poly concierge 3rd floor room 3515. great view! Great treats in lounge! Lots of pushy rude individuals some without shoes(gross) Took most of my treats back to our room because some people just come in and take over the place unfairly. Chef Dick and his helpers were pleasant as were the concierge staff. Common courtesy and Thank you being said as well as please and excuse me goes a long way even when y :bitelip: ou are on vacation. Overall great trip and a near perfect view of castle.
