Just back from Poly! WOW!

We are DVC members, but this was going to be our third trip in a year and NO points left! So, we got an AP rate and chose a GV room at Poly for a much needed winter get-a-way! This was our 2nd trip to the Poly. Our first trip two years ago, we stayed in a GV concierge room! I did make a room request before arrival, I wanted a 1rst floor room most, but also asked for Fiji d/t quiet location! At check-in, we were told that they were unable to put us in Fiji, but they felt like we would like our assigned room location. We got Samoa 1rst floor with a beautiful view of the volcano pool, Grand Floridian in the background, and a partial lagoon view! We loved it! Very convienent location, easy acsess to re-fil mugs and to the Great Ceremonial house! Also, the room was in immaculate condition! Housekeeping was great our entire trip, we even got a towel hammock for our pal mickey and later in the week we got a towel elephant! Also, I had asked for a signed character card from Mickey to be sent to our room when I made the room reservation, and had mentioned it was for our sons 7th birthday. I hoped for the card, but had expected nothing else! But, while we were out our arrival night, someone set-up a cake, party hats, blowers, and baloons in our room. Needless to say our son was thrilled! Poly was great!!! Can't wait to go back!

I think you and I "talked" back and forth before the trip, on these boards of course. I live in Mocksville, about 40 minutes from you. We just got back from the Poly Monday night - it was our first time at the Poly. We loved it!!! Your view sounds great. We had Tokelau 3927 - just a garden view but we liked it nonetheless. Couldn't see the lagoon because palm trees were in the way. That's okay - I'll take palm trees anyday over brown grass and 20 degree mornings!

The Poly is fantastic! Did you get in the pool? We did a couple of times and it was heated but when you got out....brrrrrrr.

Thanks Jacksmom for the report we are planning on the Poly in October. I do have a questions though. When requesting the card for your son it was the CM who was taking your room reservation? That's a great idea and would like to do the same for my son as he is really afraid of the plane ride and this would be just a little extra something for "being a brave kid" on the plane!

Hi Pam NC, I'm glad you also enjoyed Poly! And, yes we did swim several times! Our room was facing the Volcano pool, so we could go back and forth through our patio door which was quick when wet and shivering!

s&k'smom, When I called back to CRO to make my room request several weeks before our arrival was when I requested the card to be sent to the room!

Sounds like a great trip! I can't wait to stay there again in 2005!
