Just back from Poly concierge in Tahiti building (UPDATED: photos added)

Then the stairs are on the outside of the building at each end.

One of my sister's friends just got back from Poly concierge also and she had a horrible time with it! Did you try the concierge staff for anything and if so how were they? She called to ask them to make reservations for her and they said "here is the number, call yourself" The maid also showed up at 11pm for the turn down service. They have small children and were all in bed already!! That was not the only instance of rude, totally non disney behavior. My sister will post a more in depth report, but I was just wondering if you had any bad experience at all. My sister is booked for Nov and this is the first bad thing she has heard about concierge at the Poly. Thanks for any info.

I find it hard to believe that the turndown was at 11pm since the staff is gone from the resort before then.

I have heard very good things about the concierge over in Tahiti and it is the same staff we deal with over in Hawaii. I can't imagine them being that rude. If they were they would not have the most repeat guests out of any Disney resort.

Aloha

We stayed at the Polynesian concierge 11/2001 when it was located in the Hawaii building. The staff was very nice. And turn down service was always so magicla for us. It was always done while we were at dinner. We never saw a cart when we left and when we came back, everything was done - no carts in sight.

As far as the smell, we stayed on the 2nd floor in Hawaii and there was no smell and the room was always spotless. I hope I can expect the same at Tahiti. But I will be honest...I'm getting a little nervous after reading so many posts that there is a smell in the rooms at Tahiti.

Partyof5, Don't be too worried about the smell in Tahiti. The "musty" smell I smelled on the 1st floor in Tahiti, was twice as bad when I walked thru the ground floor in Hawaii. Tikiman said it had something to do with the air conditioning. I didn't smell it at all on the 2nd or 3rd floor in Tahiti, and I'm guessing it's not always there on the ground floor, if it has to do with air conditioning. Have a great trip!

Cheers!

Thanks for the pics - brings it all back except we didn't stay in concierge.

We stayed on the ground floor but didn't notice much of the famed "Poly smell".

Tikiman, the 11pm turndown happened twice, so I am sure she had the time right. Her husband had also ordered flowers to be delivered to the room for their anniversary. When they had not arrived by 8pm he called and they told them they were in the lounge if he felt like getting them he could do it himself. There is no reason they would make this stuff up. I know the service used to be great, but this is not the first post that has said the staff has been less than friendly in the past months. When was the last time you were there?

All I am saying is that the staff leaves before 11:00 but I was not there so I cannot say what happened to them. I was there last summer but I am in contact with the staff weekly. It is the same staff that has been there for years and as much as I know you can get someone who is rude I don’t see this is a very high percentage of what people will see when they are there. I get reports every few days from people who just return from the Polynesian and 1 out of 10 will say their stay was not perfect.

We are leaving tommorow. The only thing I am concerned about is that the 4th will turn into the same fiasco as last year.

Over the past week or so I sent a couple of emails and the concierge staff has replied within 24 hours. Like Tikiman said, they have had the same staff (with the exception of Don who went over to AKL) for at least as long as we have been going. I have never seen them be rude. :)

Hi gepetto,

Have a great trip!

What was the fiasco from last July?

Enquiring minds want to know.

>>^..^<<

Yeah Gepetto, have a great time. I spoke to some of the staff about a week ago about the security and they said they are supposed to enforce the resort policy this year better than last year and check ID and escort those who are not resort guests out immediately. I remember the year before seeing people checked who were crashing the pool and the beach get escorted out. Lets just say they were a little embarrassed.

It will still be better to be at the Polynesian than in the park so enjoy.

Aloha

Steve
