We arrived at POFQ on May 14th. This was a resort that we had wanted to stay at for some time. We had heard great things...
We did on line check in and faxed a request for building 6 a few days prior to our departure.
I actually had a fairly long wait in the on line check in line to get our keys because there were only 2 CMs working and one was having a very long conversation with some guests that he apparently knew.
We did get building 6, actually a room overlooking the river! The room itself was ok - it was somewhat dirty/dusty in places and the bathtub resurfacing layer was peeling off. There were M&Ms on the floor and our DS2 is dairy allergic so that bothered me.
It seemed roomier to us than the room we had stayed in at CSR.
Mousekeeping was a bit hit or miss - a few days they were stingy with towels and soaps/shampoo. One day, they didn't take 2 dirty towels???
The grounds of the hotel are very nice, the walkway along the river also nice and we walked to Boatwrights for dinner one night.
DS4 and I went to the pool one night, he was disappointed that the serpent slide was closed (I didn't know that it would be closed at night) and kept asking to go back during the day, but by the 4th day of the trip, the torrential rains started and so we never went back to the pool.
Bus service was just ok. I would say that bus service to the parks was very good - when the bus got full at POFQ, the drivers did not go to POR. However, bus service back from the parks was crazy, especially on the rainy days. Almost every bus was super packed (this has nothing to do with POFQ, just venting, but on multiple occassions no one budged to let elderly folks or mothers carrying small kids sit - it was unbelievable) Lines and wait times for the buses were long - especially at DHS.
The beignets were ok, nothing that I would go back specifically for. They were very accomodating in the food court with my DS2's food allergy for breakfast on the day we left.
The rain certainly colored our experience, but in the end, we felt that this resort was difficult for our family with small kids and stroller. Bus transportation was just such a hassle - an experience we have never had at other WDW resorts at which we have stayed. I would have preferred a cleaner room with better housekeeping services. What we saw of the grounds (when it wasn't pouring) was quite nice though!
