what a blast!!
I can't thank you all enough for the advice, tips and general helpfulness that I received by reading these boards. I think it added to our trip in ways that made it (for us) one of the best family vacations ever.
My husband and I took our 3 kids (sons 10 & 8 and daughter 5). My 10 year old is now a MAJOR Hulk, DD, Mummy fan and my 8 year old needs us to go back next year after he has grown an inch so he can join his brother on Hulk & DD.
We were there for 5 days (offsite, we had a vacation home) and we had very few lines. IOA we had almost ZERO lines for anything. We never waited more than 5 minutes for anything other than DD. We then figured out if we do it either really early or really late we can walk right on that one, too. US we had a little longer waits for a few rides (Jaws one day was about 30 min. but it had been closed most of the day for some sort of 'video shoot'
) . But overall, the wait times were very, VERY manageable.
The kids loved the Sinbad show at IOA. The actors came out as soon as it was over for photos/autographs. The good guys AND the bad guys. They were funny and very interactive with the crowd. They also gave out little silver and gold coins to the kids (who doesn't love a free souvenir??
) Also have to say the Camp Jurassic is a great diversion when someone doesn't want to or isn't tall enough for a ride. The kids loved that and the adults can sit & rest a bit, lol.
I don't think we were disappointed in ANY rides (or meals). We tried Mythos (yum), Enchanted Oak Tavern (great ribs), the general counter food at US (ehh, but it was edible) and LOVED being able to walk right out to CityWalk for a great meal at Margaritaville and Hard Rock. We stopped one night after the park closed for drinks at Margaritaville and the kids had nachos and played in the sand.....what a great way to relax a bit.
Anyway....thanks again for all the tips on this board. I don't post a lot but I read almost daily and I feel like this board truly contributed to making our first (but certainly not last) trip to USO wicked cool (and that's as good as magical any day of the week!)
