We are just back from our first cruise (5 night, Magi, western carribean) we are looking to sail again in a few years and I have a few questions....

We loved the Magic, stick with that or try a new ship?

We waited 3 hours in line to check in for our PAT (and showed up on time). Is this a Miami thing, or is Port Canaveral the same way? Is there a better port?

Anyone know which sailings typically do the Casaway Cay double dip?

Thanks!!

Wow three hours in line to check in! I leave on Wednesday on the Magic, hope we don't have the same. Previous cruise was leaving from Port Canaveral and we had not issues.

Was your cruise with new alcohol policy? If so, how was that handled?

Haven't sailed out of Miami but I'm guessing it has more to do with being a first time cruiser. I've always noticed that their line is a lot longer than those returning for second+ time. More computer work and photo taking (for id) that holds things up I think.

The Magic is the only ship we still have to do. I would definitely try the others, they each have their own characteristics.

I wondered about it being first time too, but that was just to get in-before the lines for first timers, ect. Maybe just too many people not showing up for their PAT?
It was with the new policy, they questioned everyone going through customs and confiscated those who had it, didn't seem to be a huge deal.

Thank you for reporting back. I know some of the families I am traveling with would like to bring hard cider or lemonade. I have asked our TA and DCL customer service and I have not received a clear answer. By chance did you notice?

We sailed on Dream last time and loved it! Can't wait to experience a smaller ship.

We were on that cruise. We were delayed boarding due to coast guards were conducting safety checks. I have been on the other 2 bigger ships and I prefer them. But many will recommend the smaller classics.

Ahh! Makes sense.

I didn't notice, at that point I was so tired (we have a nearly 2 year old and no stroller, ironically the only time I wanted one) that I didn't pay attention

I think you will get just as many responses in favor of small ships as large ships. It is personal preference. I am a smaller ship fan. I like to be able to get from one place to another quicker, I also think the service is more personalized on the smaller ships but I am sure some would not agree with me.
